Why do large companies still use Evri?

I am so fed up of parcels either never arriving, or arriving weeks later.
I am now totally unable to buy from companies whose products I use and need (such as Next and M&S) because they give no alternative other than Evri.

I ordered shoes for my daughter weeks ago from Next. They were marked as delivered after ages, but hadn’t been so I got a refund and bought her some others. Then 2 weeks later, the shoes arrived out of the blue and I’ve had several emails now saying they’re going to charge me. If I return them, it will be through Evri who won’t turn up, OR will cost me loads as they are heavy.

That’s just one example but nothing ever just gets delivered with Evri for me. I really don’t think I’m alone in this….so WHY oh why do these companies keep using them!? They must be losing so much business.

I’ve always had excellent experiences of Evri

WildCherryBlossom · 30/06/2025 16:36

Evri are excellent in my area. Can’t fault them at all.

I always opt for RM if I can - the service around here is excellent.

Same here. Evri is also very reliable.

LazySunbedDays · 30/06/2025 18:43

The only time I’ve had a problem with Evri is when our usual driver was off, had a parcel go missing, no big drama, company sent a replacement out,
usual driver came back a few weeks later and delivered my “lost” parcel!

henlake7 · 30/06/2025 18:54

Its def all down to your area I think. My Evri guy is lovely and no problem at all.
RM is my postal nemesis, fake delivery attempts, giving delivery dates and not showing up, damaged packages. Total pita.

NeilDiamondsBlowDry · 30/06/2025 20:48

@henlake7 they are mine too - up there with the BBC on my ‘shit list’

have a huge list of ways they have annoyed me latest being how the post man argued that he HAD to deliver a huge pile of leaflets ‘by Law’ dominoes and local estate agent shite the stuff that goes straight in the bin. Plus delivering piles of mail for a house with the same number but a different road. I can’t stand them 🤬

Flev · 04/07/2025 18:28

So far Evri have been happily telling me "we've got your parcel" for a week. No hint of whether I might get it at any point though...

redannie18 · 04/07/2025 18:32

Just depends where you live. In my last three homes Evri has been excellent. Currently have a lovely older woman who knows where to leave parcels and texts me personally to let me know about deliveries.

Its DPD who are rubbish for me, or bloody Yodel- they never arrive.

Quirkswork · 05/07/2025 09:12

Evri are the worst. My heart sinks if a parcel is being delivered by them. Two haven't arrived in the last two months. Delayed if they do arrive at all. Every single delivery I receive several texts throughout the day saying that there will be a delay. Every single bloody time. Just deliver it fgs! I don't need to be told the minutiae of how your driver is planning his day.

Or there's a "problem with the delivery" once they get to the house despite them delivering here fairly regularly. Dreadful.

ohtowinthelottery · 05/07/2025 09:17

Never had a problem with Evri. Had the same 2 delivery drivers for years. They even help identify front doors on Facebook for other companies mis deliveries!

LlynTegid · 05/07/2025 09:17

I repeat my suggestion that you should be told who the parcel carrier will be before you pay for an online order. By law. Or the goods are free.

Boredlass · 05/07/2025 09:19

I have a business on eBay and use Evri. Over 1000
parcels and no problems. Evri are great for me. RM have lost loads and I refuse to use them now

That's probably the secret. To have the same delivery drivers. Unfortunately this is not happening this end ....

notacooldad · 05/07/2025 09:22

Im in dispute with Evri atm.
They have delivered a parcel and it looks like its go e to next doors garden. We avoid next door for many reasons.
Evri have told me to take it up with the company ive ordered it from. The company are saying they have evidence its been delivered. Im saying why us it the company's fault your driver has taken it to the wrong place.

This circle of blame has been going on a while now!

RaininSummer · 05/07/2025 09:26

Royal Mail is terrible these days so I actually prefer Evri.

AlertEagle · 05/07/2025 09:42

I’ve never had any issues with Evri. Parcels are always delivered as expected and never been damaged. My local delivery driver has been the same for years, he’s friendly and professional. I always have issues with Royal Mail since covid.

I tend to try to avoid firms who use RM as their couriers. My first choice is Amazon these days because their deliveries are usually excellent in terms of promised delivery dates and the ability to track your delivery. If I can't get something from Amazon, I'm more drawn to online retailers who say they use Evri, or offer a choice. I've gone back to Ebay recently as their "default" simple delivery option is now Evri rather than Royal Mail.

Amazon use RM where I am.

Evri is fine. The driver is friendly.

Quirkswork · 05/07/2025 10:49

By 9.57am today I've had 4 emails from Evri and two texts. The latest is

There's a delay with the delivery of your parcel as there was an issue accessing the delivery address today.

I'm in. There's a parcel box. They deliver regularly. But yet again I'm being kept informed of what the driver is thinking at any given time. This happens EVERY (ha) TIME. And it's the same messages. I expect at least 10 emails and various texts over the course of today.

I know Amazon is bad but they could take a leaf out of it's delivery skills.

Snorlaxo · 05/07/2025 10:52

With stuff like this, it’s dependent on the couriers in a specific area. Evri are excellent here and I’ve returned things, had packages delivered and parcels collected.
It was worse back when they were Hermes but not nearly as bad as your description,
