Why do you think you would you be exempt from conscription?

Off the back of other threads. I think I’d be exempt from conscription due to the following:

Severely asthmatic
Diagnosed MH issues
Anaemia
Poor eye sight (-5.50)

What about you?

Anyway, it’s a bit shit if we are being told that AI is going to smash pretty much every job and none of us will be needed any more then a war comes along and we’re all hoovered up.

MoominUnderWater · 22/06/2025 23:29

Eyesight -10
ehlers Danlos syndrome and can’t walk very well as my ankle ligaments are stuffed
pots, so I feel faint /dizzy every time I stand.
i suspect my occupation would be a protected one as well.

That’s the fighting spirit I love to see! 😁

Going to tell DP we might need to start trying so I’m not sent to Russia.

It’ll be a bit of a pain if conscription doesn’t happen and we’re stuck with a kid for the next 18 years though.

Whilst I’m young and fit, I weigh less than 50kg and am quite short so I doubt I’d be useful in combat

Scoobyblue · 22/06/2025 23:56

I’m 57. I’d be useless at anything physical these days, but I can get really really angry about things so if pure rage is required I’m your woman.

ohreallyIsee · 22/06/2025 23:58

me and dh too old
dd1-one look at medical.history and it would be a no

dd2 probably a conscientious objector but might go in medical corp

Greenalien1 · 23/06/2025 00:00

Epileptic so I'd be a massive liability if I couldn't access my medication twice a day. Also maybe crippling panic attacks??? I'd be good in the hospital/medical settings though and feel like I'm young/fit enough!

Chalk111111 · 23/06/2025 00:01

It’s not looking good, is it? We might have to give it a miss.

You’d be nifty in tunnels, though.

I think the Mumsnet Battalion (Field Kitchen Division) would, however, be legendary. Someone’s got to feed the fuckers out of five cupboard ingredients, a jeep full of roadkill and a knob of Lurpak.

iwentjasonwaterfalls · 23/06/2025 00:39

Uncontrolled epilepsy so I think that's me out.

I'm currently training in cyber security though, so who knows where I'll be at in a couple of years time?

Reading this thread it's clear why the DWP is overwhelmed with PIP applications 😂

🤣 😂 😂

BashfulClam · 23/06/2025 00:50

Too old-46
Terrible eyesight- -7
ADHD, EDS and some sorta heart thing they are looking into.

Alternatively, we could have the MN chicken, which would last us all for two months!

Too old.

bittertwisted · 23/06/2025 04:58

Rinkali · 22/06/2025 21:57

I’m too old, which is a shame really, as perimenopausal women have almost nuclear rage capacity, bursts of wild energy and zero filter. Also zero tolerance for being told what to do by fuckwits, unfortunately.

😂😂😂

Rosie8880 · 22/06/2025 21:53

Genuinely I hope anyone not trained would be disqualified - thr idea of civilians going into any war or combat zone is horrific.

They’d train us up, obviously. They’re hardly going to send a bunch of suburban mums into battle unprepared.

Paperweight7 · 23/06/2025 05:30

I wonder if general incompetence or dopeyness counts?

I would be a liability in that respect, like getting lost on the ground and ending up in a local Tesco instead, or mistaking who is on which side, or eating a sandwich in a park oblivious to the battle raging elsewhere. They'd probably discharge me out of embarrassment.

aspidernamedfluffy · 23/06/2025 05:36

I'm too old and DP has epilepsy.

PrincessOfPreschool · 23/06/2025 05:44

Terrible eyesight. Old (52). Diagnosed MH.

I could probably work in a hospital or something though.

Darkling1 · 22/06/2025 21:53

I wondered whether conscription would apply to women these days…

It did in WW II so why would it be different now?

Although women in WWII were mostly not on the front line they played a huge part in the war effort.

I'm too old and disabled to be on the front line but I think I would be good at the 'corkscrew thinking' for planning espionage or code breaking.

EleanorReally · 23/06/2025 05:54

i am too heavy for a horse, i think
asthma
hypertension

ArcticBells · 23/06/2025 05:58

I’m 63 and I’ll be volunteering 💪

Missey85 · 23/06/2025 06:20

I have epilepsy so I think that would do it

MoominUnderWater · 23/06/2025 06:32

MidnightPatrol · 22/06/2025 21:50

I’d be exempt because I live in the UK which doesn’t have conscription

Neither did Ukraine until suddenly they did?

I think it’s unlikely to happen here though but guess never say never. Can’t see it happening for a war being fought in the Middle East. Especially when we have so much fire power in the way of missiles, drones, the raf, etc. If somehow some country was attacking us at our borders then maybe more people would be expected to actually fight.
