Old threads you followed that you would love to know what happened afterwards

I remember an old thread where a group of friends basically denied themselves treats on holidays and days out for years because one couple in the group were supposedly hard up and they didn’t want the other couple to struggle. It turned out that they actually had saved a substantial amount to put their son through Uni . I wonder what happened next as the OP and friends were absolutely outraged and were going to confront hard up couple, but the thread had reached maximum posts so never knew what happened next . What is the thread that you remember and would love an update on ?

I often wonder about trickytreelou whose husband left her for an OW who was pregnant, then Lou found out she was also pregnant. He left, took all the chutney from the fridge, and Lou had the baby (Adam?) - he must be 10 or 11 now.

Didn’t he leave a teaspoon (or maybe take the teaspoons)? He was an epic twat.

And another one from very recently, where a teenage boy was taken to hospital after a minor sports accident but it turned out he seemed to have some different, alarming, health problem. I hope he’s OK.

I often wonder how the lady and her children who moved to Scotland to a completely new life are doing…the OP asked for advice on moving to a flat in a new area/country not knowing anyone. It was a beautiful uplifting thread and I was so happy to see the way in which they settled into their new life and were thriving. Would be great to hear an update a couple of years later! And if the date with the carpet fitter led anywhere.

TheDogdidGood · 21/06/2025 00:02

There was one about a woman who realised her husband had always been in love with his female friend, Nothing had ever happened between them but he started crying at her wedding and the poster was devastated

There was one recently entitled 'how do I tell him' where a lovely woman was being abused by her partner. She came to realise what was going on, got her ducks in a row, secretly rented a house and courageously left him! I think of her often and would love to know how she's getting on.

There was a new thread started recently, OP had a house lined up and was very close to leaving.

I want to know if the poster ever found out what really happened with her dyson airwrap and whether she received a replacement.

Yes I saw the update. After lots of excuses, the air wrap was returned. I think the OP had to threaten legal action but she did get it back. A happy ending!

LeftieRightsHoarder · 21/06/2025 00:10

The wonderful RunningInRain, whose boyfriend dumped her by text saying “No need to reply”. She was heartbroken but recovered heroically, and kept her silence while her stupid ex eventually went desperate pleading with her to take him back.

I am also hoping Twittlebee (I think the name was), got her forest back.

Boswell 🤣🤣 IYKYK
Sorry!

On a more serious note.. The one mentioned above about the creepy music from the back garden. If I recall MN removed it as there was something sensitive about it?

I wonder if there was more than one creepy music thread? I had a peep and the creepy ice cream van music one is still up?

PopeJoan2 · 21/06/2025 00:34

When I first got here there were a couple of threads from women who were confronting cheating husbands in real time. One of them was posting for weeks so you could follow the whole thing. I hate to admit it but it was like a real life soap opera and I was hooked.

PopeJoan2 · 21/06/2025 00:41

Does anyone remember the post about the scones? I can’t quite remember the detail of it. I think someone had anonymously gifted a friend a cream tea that was delivered to their home. The friend commented on Facebook about how awful it was. Something like that.

Anyway, we all suddenly had cravings for scones and there was a rush on them all over the country. Nigella Lawson suddenly put up a recipe for scones online and we all speculated that it might be in response to the thread. Scones were sold out in bakeries. It was a real laugh.

Flamingo68 · 21/06/2025 00:42

Did they ever find out what happened to the missing grandfather clock parts?

I am pretty sure the friend eventually gave her back the Dyson air wrap.

I'm sure it's been resolved but I've not seen it, but the one with the woman who went away and found her neighbours had knocked down a wall into her private courtyard. I'm fairly sure it was a troll but it was entertaining

I remember that one too. Would love to know what happened

Silverpaws · 21/06/2025 01:05

The one about escape rooms on ATM is absolutely brilliant!

The ‘friend’ left it on her door step

I believe it was lying flat on top of a wardrobe out of sight.

Sneaky! Typical ironing board behaviour.

The one by the woman who had found an engagement ring , she was on holiday and it was in her DPs bedside table but she never posted to say if she'd had the proposal. Hopefully she did.

Who was Kateandthegirls?

She did update that thread and yes he did propose.

Yes, I think of this lady often @pleasenotme ‘do they ever come back’ devastated’ her writing style was beautiful and I truly hope her life is good

i also think of her often and hope she’s ok.

blueshedhermit · 21/06/2025 01:22

Awesmum? An amazing woman preparing to leave her nasty piece of work husband who refused to call one of their girls by her real name, and used to send her back after visits dirty and it turned out she had been kept with him in his workshop?
And a very amusing and wry woman who was attempting to explain her partner's rationale for sleeping in a cupboard rather than explain why he was unhappy about the building work in their home/farm

Anonbindrama · 20/06/2025 22:44

There was a thread earlier this year where a posters husband had had a head injury and was stuck in a French hospital (potentially skiing or skiing like head injury). I am not sure if it was updated but I think about it sometimes still and hope he was ok.

I remember that one too…because we were all ing at the time. From what I remember I think he was ok.

handsdownthebest · 21/06/2025 01:25

When I first joined MN there was a lady called onitlikeacarbonet who was going through a divorce. She was quite amazing in how she was dealing with it all. Wonder if she’s still about? And how she’s doing today?

Kweenbeee · 21/06/2025 01:44

@witchesandwizards was the lady who moved to NZ just before COVID with her DH and her world fell apart. His parents had a business that he started to work in but the MIL and SIL were heavy drinkers. OP was hugely isolated and the $$$$ promises re the business never materialised. I think of her often and hope 6 years on she has found some peace.

also @chopinandchampagne I wish her well after all she has been through on so many levels. She never gave up.
