How much would you expect to pay for this tattoo?

Im not asking if you like tattoos. If you dont, may I strongly suggest you never get one and move along to another thread.

I know its not to everyone's taste and the good old cliche "bold will hold" etc etc but how much would you expect to pay for something like this?

I'm getting my children's birth flowers (yes another cliche, the thread is full of them) and have been quoted a price. Im happy to pay it because I like the artist's work but a few people have said it's expensive so out of curiosity, how much would you expect to pay for something like this?

Its £1 coin for scale.

ETA - It's my first tattoo so have nothing to compare it to. One of the people who commented has poorly done tattoos so I wouldnt listen to them and the other has well done tattoos but in a different style.

Its very pretty, I'm in NI and here I reckon about £250

As for the snidey comments that have fuck all to do with what you asked., maybe go and head tilt and tinkly laugh somewhere else eh

Billybingbong · 20/06/2025 08:10

It all depends on the tattoo artist and the location. We're up north in the arse end of nowhere, and it would probably cost around £150. For context, my son has just had a half sleeve done, and it cost him 250

doodleschnoodle · 20/06/2025 08:10

I would say £200-300? With some leeway either side depending on area and how sought after the tattoo artist is.

It’s beautifully detailed and I think it will take a good few hours to do well, so probably 500-750. Are you having three separate tattoos or all 3 flowers in one tattoo?

The OP is questioning the price, so it's completely relevant to point out that she may want to consider her financial priorities.

Making sure you pay the right price for a service and aren't ripped off is what any sensible person does; it doesn't mean your financial priorities are wrong, FFS.

Frequency · 20/06/2025 08:22

It depends on where you live and how in demand your artist is. I live in a poor area, and a design like that would cost between £80 and £200, depending on the artist. The tattooist DD uses is really good, not astonishingly good, but very talented, but also new to the trade and relatively unknown. DD has paid £150 for designs of a similar size and intricacy.

Its conpletely irrelevant. She's after feedback on something she isn't sure what the going rate is.

Frequency · 20/06/2025 08:26

I will say if this is your first tattoo, be aware that a decent tattooist will not copy another artist's work, so if you find someone willing to copy your pictures exactly, run far, far away and find someone who will use your pictures as inspiration to create something unique for you.

If you want to insult people who have tattoos, @Sickandtiredoflife , start your own thread. It is very disruptive to come onto this thread to do this. Really unfair on the OP.

I don't have any tattoos, OP, but those look really beautiful, agree with others that it would take an artist to do them well, and I would expect to pay quite a lot!

Edited

I didn't insult anyone so why say I did?

I asked a question relevant to the thread.

Start my own thread about what?
About the cost of Tattoos? What would be the point in that when OP has already started one and posters such as myself have every right to post on them? How is it unfair on OP to post on her thread?

Taytayslayslay · 20/06/2025 08:29

Sickandtiredoflife · 20/06/2025 07:36

Honestly why not just spend the money on your children? Why the need for performative gestures about them?

Oh get a grip. Parents are allowed to spend money on them self.

No. Don't even try it. Unless the OP has sent you a PM asking you to chip to help her pay for it, your comment is completely irrelevant.

ZImono · 20/06/2025 08:31

Its beautiful and a few hundred for sure

Taytayslayslay · 20/06/2025 08:33

I would think each one would cost between 150 & 200 as they're very detailed. Be aware though, fine line is good when done by a good artist but if it's not a specialised fine line artist it looks horrible after a while. It'll look decent to start with, then it starts to bleed(like it'll look smudged, idk how else to describe it haha) and looks bad. These are very intricate small detailed tattoos so run the risk of looking bad if the artist isn't good.

It takes some giant ego to know your opinion is as irrelevant as a fart in a hurricane, and as unwelcome as recurrent thrush, and deliver it anyway.

I'm slightly in awe of that tbf.

Chichianti · 20/06/2025 08:39

Minimum for the set up and needles is usually about 200-250. So even for a small tattoo I’d say 200.

Yeh right

It was a simple question. Last week there was a nice pleasant thread saying show me your nails....among the happy folk posting pics there were the snidey....I hate acrylic nails they look chavvy etc.

No need for it. The op wanted a guideline on whst was a reasonable price. Not a judgement on getting it.

Don't know why I'm surprised though.

Sickandtiredoflife · 20/06/2025 08:44

skippy67 · 20/06/2025 07:55

My question was also genuine. The OP asked a specific question about the cost of a tattoo. Your comment was a dig and not at all helpful. Performatively mean in fact. So, genuinely, why the need?

Yes OP asked a question about the cost of the tattoo she wanted and the first few posters answered her with estimates of hundreds of pounds.

Perhaps OP is in the fortunate position of being wealthy and has the money to spare- although in that case she probably wouldn't have needed to start the thread- but for me that is a large amount to spend on something unnecessary when you have children.

I've never been wealthy and if I had a couple of hundred pounds spare I would delight in spending it on buying books/ toys/ clothes etc for my children to enjoy and benedmfit from. I wouldn't think of spending it on an adornment for myself.

So I posted my question.

And actually I think it's s healthy to have differing views on threads such as these because otherwise the impression is everyone thinks its normal to have tattoos, have cosmetic surgery or whatever. These are the type of threads where there is so much intolerance.

Why would she not need to start the thread if she is wealthy? How much someone charges if they are in a creative profession is often a reflection of how good they are at what they do and how in demand their work is.

It is sensible to question average prices in that case, even if you are a billionaire.

Sickandtiredoflife · 20/06/2025 07:47

Well yes its her money and her choice but why on earth do it?
What good does it do her children for heavens sake?

Not everything has to be for your children!

Shock. Horror, she's still a person in her own right!

BunnyLake · 20/06/2025 08:53

It’s a very pretty tattoo. My son has one in the same place but covers more of that part of the arm, I think it cost about £600 so this should probably be £200, although I’m no expert.

Megifer · 20/06/2025 08:54

People who are comfortable money-wise dont want to get ripped off, same as anyone else.

Maybe op should make her own cilice and simply tighten that each time shes tempted to spend money on herself and not her children.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 20/06/2025 08:54

Awww it’s beautiful OP, really lovely
I would think around £250 to £400

You must have a terribly hard life if you have children. How have you managed not spending ANY money on yourself so you can spend it ALL on your children.

I know right? This thread has given me a well deserved laugh on a shit morning at work.

In my case they are grown up and left home, instead of my tattoo I should be buying them books🤣
