Getting a tad nervous about Iran and Isreal if I’m honest

Is ww3 going to kick off? Iran have hit the US embassy in Israel and now trumps threatening direct military action.
My Mom has just come back from Cyprus and last night they saw missiles 😟

Maybe those flights are going around the air space between Israel and Iran.
Are they taking a bit longer?

I think they are taking a bit longer.

Likely to be rerouted to avoid the air space between the two countries.
I believe Iraq, Jordan and Syria air space is closed.
Your flight operator is the best source.
You are very brave! I am too chicken.

I am checking daily and will keep you updated 🙂 Dubai is a first stop on a multi-destination holiday so I really hope it all goes ahead safely.

It was Israel and the US who colluded and hit the US Embassy in Israel so they could use it as an excuse to go all out and start WW3 just like Tony Blair and the US did with Iraq and 9/11.

notimagain · 16/06/2025 21:17

Most of the air traffic routing between Europe and the Gulf (and further east). Is routing via Saudi Arabia and then north east Egypt, and yes it's adding to flight times .

Picture of this evening"s traffic here:

Foreign office advice for Cyprus says:

Latest update:Ongoing hostilities in the region and between Israel and Iran could escalate quickly and pose security risks for the wider region (‘Safety and security’ page).

it’s saying the same for Morocco which is worrying as we are due to travel to Marrakesh in July.

MushMonster · 17/06/2025 07:22

The heavy bombardment exchanges continues. No signs of any easying.
I have not managed to find full clarity whether the US embassy was targeted or damaged as collateral, but the damage does not seem to be extensive.
US has and is moving assets to ME, including an airplane carrier.
US is actively defending Israel by shooting down incoming projectiles.
And no mention of UK getting involved in anything! Thanks for that and I hope it stays so!

MushMonster · 17/06/2025 07:33

The images coming out of this! My God!
The amount of fire exchange, the images of Tehran's evacuation, with the motorways fully collapsed. First time I have ever seen Israel getting that many actual hits, including ballistic missiles. The speed at which they hit! The black smoke raising from Natanz's area, but thank goodness there seem to be no surface radiation.
It is beyond crazy.
There was many sources reporting Iran readiness to negotiate yesterday. I hope it materialises and there is a stop. I really do not know what to think by now. But my gut tells me, they will go on fighting, for a long long time, till full obliteration.

MushMonster · 17/06/2025 07:35

I am surprised at the travel issues to Morocco? That is far too far away and mot involved at al...🤷‍♀️

veiledsentiments · 17/06/2025 07:38

They also have the same warning for travel to the UAE.

Sodthesystem · 17/06/2025 07:40

I was going to book a NYC holiday soon for the Christmas season as there's an event I have tickets for. Now I'm not sure what to do. I want to go for it but maybe it's a risk.

MushMonster · 17/06/2025 07:46

I cannot imagine NY or Morocco being at a real risk.
But I would avoid Middle East.

roses2 · 17/06/2025 12:09

The problem is all those who have shelled out ££££ for summer holidays won't get a refund unless the FCO put the neighbouring countries on the no fly list!

Yes this is it there are clauses in most policies re. Wars ans natural disasters so unless there is an official no travel rating then we stand to lose out a lot of money 😔

I’m also feeling nervous bc I feel the UK is overdue karma. Palestine was a British protectorate within my parents’ lifetimes. Our complicity in the situations in Iraq and Afghanistan is shameful. Our standing with Ukraine is not, but it’s still courting trouble.

We have such a long history of colonisation but here we still are, relatively safe on our wee island. Long may it continue but I feel nervous 😥

I have this eerie feeling that’s what’s happening is not only changing the present, and the future, but is also re-casting the past.

Edited

What a load of old guff.

Do you actually know anything about any of the many different Operations which have been carried out in the Middle East , working directly with the armies of those countries?

JustMyView13 · 16/06/2025 13:59

This world has too many men with small dick syndrome, in power.
I wish someone would put them all on a remote island & let them fight it out between themselves.

Yup. The history of the world in a single sentence. Currently we have Trump, Khamenei and Netanyahu. At least Assad is no longer spreading misery.

I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding your post- are you saying that 9/11 was carried out by the US?

Stop with this utter crap right now. It is deeply offensive.

Having been in the US shortly after 9/11 and during that visit talking to some of the colleagues of one of the pilots killed on the day I very much agree.

MushMonster · 17/06/2025 18:31

The hints to call for negotiations does not seem to have stuck. Just reading the evening news and Trump's statatements are heavy, including that US knows of the location of Iran's leader.
Both sides are calling for evacuations of the other country's big cities!
The speech they are using is harsh, hate and more hate.
I think they will carry on exchanging massive amounts of ammunition tonight, sadly.

You could be right and the US were deploying aircraft (large number of tankers from the US itself) into Europe yesterday.

Today many of those flew further eastwards, not sure where, some with fighters in tow...

Trump is certainly sending signals.

MushMonster · 17/06/2025 18:49

I have read, I think in the Guardian this morning, that he was moving a aircraft carrier to ME and US had been taking down some projectiles.
The truth, I am really worried about all this.
And pleading UK does not get involved.

DaisyDoo09 · 17/06/2025 20:25

Do you think American will get involved in military action?

Amplepombear · 17/06/2025 20:56

Posting this video on the threads I am following.

I have found something extremely unsettling. This is an old video of Netanyahu laying out how he threw the Oslo Accord. This is one video BBC and Fox News wouldn’t share ever.
