I have more than one front door key because I’m not an imbecile 🤣

Fair enough. I’m not an imbecile either…

liveforsummer · 14/06/2025 13:43

Of course it’s rather soulless. It’s an unlived in house empty of all but basic furniture. Must lack imagination if you can’t think of ways to make it a home. Looks a lovely blank canvas to make your own but one can only dream! 🙃

mathanxiety · 14/06/2025 17:15

Lol @ "four-birth garage". Estate agents never disappoint.

If I understand the blurb, the house is a fairly recent build, so at least it isn't a formerly lovely old mansion now transformed into the tacky horror picture show.

It looks like the Raddisson Blue at Manchester Airport. Not a scrap of soul or individuality to be seen.

Yes! Or the ground floor interior of Brown Thomas on Grafton Street.

Crinkle77 · 14/06/2025 17:25

It's tacky beyond belief.

I once had a date with someone from Newcastle who said that one day, he hoped to decorate his whole house like the (chain) hotel he'd recently stayed in. I was, quite literally, lost for words.

Keeping your car keys in your bedroom is much safer than in a bowl in the hallway as that's the first place a burglar would look if they broke in to your house.

I've always taken my handbag upstairs with me at night.

I’d rather they grabbed the keys and handbag and took off rather than come in the bedroom looking for them tbh!

CountryQueen · 14/06/2025 11:38

That’s not true. It is common for burglars to target houses and even whole streets looking for car keys but avoiding anything but a quick sweep of the hallway and downstairs drawers.

You should keep your keys anywhere but the hallway or near the door, and definitely not in a handy little bowl 🤣

Also, that’s not John Terrys house so why would you say it is?

This was advice given by police after a neighbour was robbed at knife point, having been woken up in bed.

I take the view that if a thief has breached the security to get inside my house, I will take every precaution to ensure they do not come anywhere near me or my children. If that means a burglar helping themselves to my keys from a bowl by the door they are welcome to them.

Money doesn’t buy class clearly

outdooryone · 14/06/2025 17:57

Shopping centre chic...

fruitandvegoverload · 14/06/2025 19:54

That's honestly revolting.

BCBird · 14/06/2025 19:57

Out of my budget- thankfully😂

That imaginary officer wants more training then because the official advice of every police force in the UK is to keep keys well away from the car and front door, out of sight and, depending on the type of locking system, in a faraday pouch or box.

Perhaps it depends on the type of car 🤷‍♀️

Neighbour was also told that the car was stolen to order and that they would not have left without it.

I’m happy to take the risk of my car being the subject of an opportunistic theft because I’ve kept keys by my front door if it offsets the risk of being woken up by burglars that are specifically targeting me.

Annascaul · 15/06/2025 15:07

Whoever it was that lived there has destroyed it completely.
Shamefully shite.

SillyMillie90 · 15/06/2025 15:14

I used to love houses like this now I think they’re soulless. Looks like a hotel. I’m no maximalist but where’s the stuff? Why is there a bookshelf in that room with nothing in it. or is it ‘art?’

They do steal to order but he’s wrong that they don’t leave without it. These gangs are exactly who I was talking about and they tend to like it streamlined.

He's talking bollocks if he genuinely told her to leave keys to her car near the door in a bowl. She should contact the non emergency number for updated advice.

DancingNotDrowning · 15/06/2025 17:18

Like I say she woke up to a burglar with a knife to her throat and 4 men in balaclavas demanding car keys.

I think she’ll be quite happy to leave the keys by the front door regardless of police advice. As will I.

They really don’t 🤣 ‘sort’ after area is another peach 🤣
