I've just been transported to 1993 when I met my Ex husband
He brought Luck of the draw by Bonnie Raitt"
I was reminded of the opening line " Turn down the bed" by a poster on another thread!
My last Partner, the album was All the little lights" by Passenger.
Listening to Luck of the draw as I'm composing this.

Pelican West - Haircut 100 as well

Denimrules · 07/06/2025 22:11

Diamond Life by Sade but also Flesh and Blood by Roxy Music

wendywoopywoo222 · 07/06/2025 22:29

I love lots of great albums but mine would have to be Declaration by The Alarm. Took me through very moody teenage years.

CuriousRunner · 07/06/2025 22:32

Faith - George Michael

CuriousRunner · 07/06/2025 22:34

And I loved the way albums “flowed”. One track to the next and you knew what was coming. Shuffle is the devil!

Moier · 07/06/2025 22:34

The Cure's Greatest hits.

kingprawnspaghetti · 07/06/2025 22:35

Strawberries The Damned
utterly epic

WillimNot · 07/06/2025 22:35

Foo Fighters, The Colour and The Shape

Reminds me of sixth form and then some harder times, then meeting now DH.
I have it on a tape my mate made me, then an actual tape, plus the CD and DH bought me the vinyl as a wedding present.

I know every word of every song.

CatteryCatz · 07/06/2025 22:36

Another vote for Carole King’s Tapestry from me. Wolf Alice’s Vision of A Life too. Perfection.

LiftyLift · 07/06/2025 22:40

Quite interesting to see that most of the albums picked are over 20 years old.

Music has evolved so much with streaming that people have access to every song in the world at their fingertips tips. Gone are the days you had to buy an album and would listen to it back to back for months on end.

CatteryCatz · 07/06/2025 22:41

Oh, Dusty Springfield’s Dusty in Memphis too.

whynotmereally · 07/06/2025 22:43

Definitely maybe and jagged little pill

redcord · 07/06/2025 22:44

So many goodies mentioned here, but if I had to pick one it would be The Smiths, Strangeways. (And Rattlesnakes, LC&theC would be a close 2nd.)

whynotmereally · 07/06/2025 22:45

Also
cross road Bonjovi
The black parade MCR

Goatblu · 07/06/2025 22:47

Home - Hothouse Flowers or Nirvana - MTV Unplugged in New York

Yes, Black Parade is a fantastic choice.

eleanorwish · 07/06/2025 22:50

Parallel lines by Blondie, it was my very first LP, it was a reward for passing the 11 plus!

CharlotteLightandDark · 07/06/2025 22:52

Some great albums here!

Mine is Julian Casablancas’ solo album Phrazes for the Young, it’s an absolute no skip banger and hidden gem so feels more special to me.

CatteryCatz · 07/06/2025 22:47

Yes, Black Parade is a fantastic choice.

I was mid twenties so slightly older than the average MCR fan but really felt the angst.

@eleanorwish omg yes, that one too! I’ve just been dancing in my kitchen to Pretty Baby :-)

healthybychristmas · 07/06/2025 23:03

Imperial bedrooms by Elvis Costello. I was at uni and played this non-stop.

MandarinsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 07/06/2025 23:04

Secondary school: Welcome to the Pleasure Dome (Frankie), Bat out of Hell (Meatloaf), Brothers in Arms (Dire Straits), The Cure's Greatest Hits.
University: Soulmining (The The), Graceland (Paul Simon). Both bootlegged because I was skint.
Adulthood: Joan Armatrading's Greatest Hits, My Point of You (John Pilkington and the Atlantic Wave Band)

Then I discovered Spotify, and now I listen to EVERYTHING.

DrEllie · 07/06/2025 23:06

REM's Green. I'm 19 in a scutty bedsit working a crappy job, but with tunes!

Biomic · 07/06/2025 23:07

Tracy Chapman’s eponymous first album

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 07/06/2025 23:08

Puzzle by Biffy Clyro. That album did not leave my car for about 3 years. Everytime I turned on the ignition it was on! There’s a couple of others for other reasons but that is the one I’d say.
