I've just been transported to 1993 when I met my Ex husband
He brought Luck of the draw by Bonnie Raitt"
I was reminded of the opening line " Turn down the bed" by a poster on another thread!
My last Partner, the album was All the little lights" by Passenger.
Listening to Luck of the draw as I'm composing this.

hard to pick, because different ones remind me of different periods in my life- but if pushed- 'Violator' Depeche Mode. Defines my first year at university, and the friends I made.

But - 'Super Trouper' is the album I got when I was 8, and I was obsessed by it. And I wrote out all the lyrics and illustrated them.

There are many....

Japan - Gentlemen take Polaroids! Just listening to Nightporter now. I still have the album.

spartanrunnergirl · 07/06/2025 21:35

Aerial by Kate Bush, specifically disc two - A Sky of Honey

TigerDroveAgain · 07/06/2025 21:36

Another one for Bruce and The River: been listening to it constantly since it came out and love it

Talk Talk are amazing! The Colour of Spring is amazing!

Mimosa3andmore · 07/06/2025 21:37

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails. I was going through a very difficult time in an abusive relationship and it gave me the anger and determination to begin taking steps to get out of it. I still love it. My eldest son gave me related artwork for my office for Mother's Day this year. Not a bad song on it in my opinion.

backaftera2yearbreak · 07/06/2025 21:38

Jagged little pill Alanis Morisette. One of the best albums ever. Never skip a song.

Raahh · 07/06/2025 21:39

AutumnLover1989 · 07/06/2025 16:41

Lovesexy by Prince. Got it on cassette when I was 15. Loved that there was no gaps in between the songs so you couldn't skip it. Genius 🥰

I was in 6th form when this came out, and loved Prince. A few years later, I would work in a record shop 2 of the biggest Prince fans ever.

I loved this album, the artwork, all of it. And I love all his albums. I wish U Heaven and Anna Stesia were my favourites.

hopspot · 07/06/2025 21:43

Carole King Tapestry. I think I first listened to it in my teens and have adored it ever since. In labour I listened to it the whole way through in the bath in the dark and it calmed me right down. I’m 38 now and still listen to it regularly.

Another vote for Tapestry. Every song a winner, I never get bored of it.

Pearl69 · 07/06/2025 21:53

Ten - Pear Jam. Listened to loud and on a loop after a messy break up and then a new improved me.

Waitingfordoggo · 07/06/2025 21:54

Neneh Cherry, Raw Like Sushi, 1989. I bought it on cassette in Tower Records in San Francisco. I bought a Levi denim jacket the same day. That evening in our hotel, I wore my jacket and listened to my new album on my Walkman and for the first time in my life I felt pretty cool and grown-up (I was 11).

And if I can be allowed one more: Radiohead, OK Computer. That was my first year of University. I had just been dumped by a bloke I was obsessed with, I was drinking far too much and I had terrible insomnia. That album got me through.

Pascha · 07/06/2025 21:54

First album I loved was En Vogue - Funky Divas which was on my Walkman through many a maths class at school.

Blur - The Great Escape was my first favourite as a grown up and also my first gig.

My all time favourite that I'm come back to is The Divine Comedy - Fin de Siècle. It's wierd and I love it.

MrsKeats · 07/06/2025 22:00

The kick inside by Kate Bush

BrandyandGinger · 07/06/2025 22:01

If I absolutely had to pick one it'd be The River. I think I'm the third person to pick it. I love Point Blank so much.

RaraRachael · 07/06/2025 22:03

@BrandyandGinger my favourite is Sherry Darlin. So disappointed he never plays it live

Tbb there isn't bad song on it.

LordBummenbachsMagnificentBalls · 07/06/2025 22:03

Another vote for Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill, played on repeat then and still a favourite played often now

uncomfortablydumb60 · 07/06/2025 22:04

Of course How could I forget Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen! I can remember every word. Listening to one of his live albums now where he does a brilliant version of " Brown eyed girl" Van Morrison of course. I am a brown eyed girl and love the song!
Rumours Fleetwood Mac was another one I still listen to All on my " heavy rotation" playlist.
Hearing a particular song takes you right back doesn't it?
I can remember every detail when I was listening. What I was wearing from head to toe including perfect? I'm not sure it's entirely normal but there we are.
