I'm ill in bed and bored. Mines a slow cooker. I don't like stew or casserole, I know you can cook lots of things in it but I never use it. What's yours?

Probably my pub
£30k so far
Ouch

Ooh I did this too. Bought 50% of a lease with an ExP who turned out to be an alcoholic and got fired from his half ownership.
Managed to get most of my money back thank heavens and ditched the twat.

Good for you!

I jest really, we took on an absolute stinker of a pub, but it was facing the developer and it's a building from 1779.
It was once upon a time a loved pub but a guy took it on and turned it into a crack den.

But we've worked really hard and I am proud of what we've done with it but it's a scary amount of money to spend!

Today has though been very good despite torrential rain and it's starting to get the old regulars back so fingers crossed!

I’ve bought lots of these and it’s been a waste

slow cooker - bland mush
air fryer - does same as fan oven
fancy salad tongs - never use
neck massager - used once
special neck support - total rubbish
various expensive hoovers - don't last

I use my Ninja air fryer most days. It’s far cheaper than putting your oven on though I live on my own so single portions.

A mattress that doesn't fit the bed or a bed that doesn't fit the mattress- not sure which yet. Both are advertised as a standard double 🤔

European, US and UK sizes are all different

My very expensive spin bike, I wanted a Peleton but DH suggested another equally expensive one and I don't like it, used it twice .

Just nice quick and proper coffee tbh - the Boden one looks like a bit of a faff! I think I'll stick to bean to cup and read about the one that you and availability etc - thank you for all your comments thou - its interesting to hear from people who've actually got them!

Yeah, tbf, it is a faff, but it is fun. The real faff comes from the cleaning really. The bottom part where you put the water in, and where the coffee comes back down into sits on a base so when you wash it out you have to be careful not to get water on the bottom when the connectors etc are. I’d use it more if I didn’t have a million other ways, but as an only coffee machine? I personally wouldn’t, you are definitely going in the right direction with looking at the bean to cup machines. I love mine, and we’ve really worked it! I would 100% replace it if it broke. You can set your favourite settings etc, but I’ve never bothered with that because it depends how I’m feeling, which beans I’m using etc, so I just choose quantity, strength and I’m off. Really simple to use. I tend to keep it on the same temp. You can also change the grind from inside the side but I have never had to, the default it comes as has been perfect. If you get one let me know how you like it!

My sister bought her chef husband a tagline pot, it’s only ever even used to store his receipts now he is a black cab driver!!

I love my tagines! I can’t cook so much anymore but used to use them a lot, but they do take up a lot of room in the oven if you use the big ones, they are very tall! I’ve only got a standard gas oven, and can’t fit anything else in at the same time. Even the medium sized ones I have a hard to fit two of those in together.
I do have another terrine type lidded dish in the kitchen which I too use only to store receipts etc in 😁

RaraRachael · 08/06/2025 10:44

I forgot about my tagine! My daughter gave me it as a present and I've used it twice in 8 years . Once was to make a lamb tagine which was lovely and the other to make a chicken one which was disgusting.
I think that put me off and it's now in the back of a cupboard in the utility room.

Am I the only person who loves my Ninja Creami?

my worst purchase was a Bobbin Birdie bike. It was beautiful, but it turned out that I had, in defiance of the saying, forgotten how to ride a bike.

Edited

No, we love the Creami. Helped I think by buying it from the eBay Ninja refurbished shop with a coupon so I paid less than £100 for it. We use it loads.

tinyspiny · 08/06/2025 10:55

One of the more expensive ones for me was a Lumea IPL device used it a few times and then got a disease that stops your body hair growing .

InWithPeaceOutWithStress · 06/06/2025 23:20

The Dyson Airwrap and the Lumea IPL hair remover. Both great products but I just cba using them, they’ve been used once each and sat in a cupboard since.

Sell them on Vinted, and make some of your money back.

Sell it!

Someone will take it off your hands for a good price.
Don’t let it sit there mocking you.

I just sold my peloton for £300. Practically gave it away 😭

Juicer

Izyboo · 08/06/2025 18:01

A new dinner table. Thought as the children were getting older (11 and 8) it would be nice to have new rather then a second hand one. Wasn't even a week old and the white gloss had been chipped off the edges and ink stained over the top. 😭

Greenshed · 08/06/2025 18:02

I bought a juicer but like some other posters, although it made lovely juice, it was an absolute pain to clean (and it was extremely noisy in use). I gave it away to someone who wanted one. I have a pressure cooker that sits in a cupboard, hardly ever used, but keep it because I sometimes make a (ssh.. 🤣) Chr….s pudding in it.
It’s interesting to read about some of the items mentioned here that some posters love and others don’t.
I love the following, and use them a lot:
Slow cooker
Air fryer
Bread maker
Tagine.
Other things mentioned I’ve thought about getting but then thought that I’d hardly use them, such as a pizza oven.

Slow cooker, everything it watery I can’t work out what on earth I’m doing wrong but I need to find the box in the loft and donate or sell it. Do food backs take slow cookers?

I gave mine away on Olio. Was just taking up precious space

Bloody exercise bike. Really annoying thing is I kind of KNEW it was gonna be like this, but went ahead anyway. Now it lurks in my bedroom, like a malignant and disapproving omnipresence …

Emily47 · 08/06/2025 18:48

A sofa-style dog bed from K9. Was very expensive but i thought my large breed dog deserved a decent bed. However, the quality was poor; seams split and because the main bed cushion is foam and the inner lining is essentially plastic/nylon, condensation formed by the heat from the dog, causing the inside of the liner to become wet and the foam to become mouldy. The company refused to refund so it's in the hands of Trading Standards. Very disappointing and a total waste of money.

I’m thinking my ninja creami

Yes can imagine that..I like the look of what it produces but would never fit the pots in the freezer...and its a big machine?

Andrea87 · 08/06/2025 18:59

A lovely dinner set that is too nice to eat off and put in the dishwasher so it doesn’t get used.
