I'm ill in bed and bored. Mines a slow cooker. I don't like stew or casserole, I know you can cook lots of things in it but I never use it. What's yours?

Spent over £2k on sea grass flooring for our bedroom (it’s a huge room). It’s cold and un-cosy. Doesn’t even have the nice grass/straw smell I expected.
I don’t like it but have to live with it now.

Altruist Anti-Redness tinted moisturiser. It turned my face as orange as an ooompa loompa, which I suppose is a change from red but not what I actually wanted.

I love my slow cooker & airfryer! For everyone that struggles with things being too watery in the SC, leave the lid off for a 10-20 mins, or put a tea towel under the lid during cooking and it will help. Also, sticking your slow cooker on the low setting Christmas Eve with mulled wine in is DELIGHTFUL, makes the house smell amazing and is ready when you want it!

Ours is definitely our Eufy robo hoover - he chewed up a phone charger, constantly gets stuck under things and is generally a bit of a dick.

John lewis silk quilted bedspread. So heavy I can't even lift it off my too hot legs.

I use the anti-redness, anti pigment Altruist in the little green tube and find it ok on my face, I use it very sparingly though as I'm fair skinned and too much and I'd probably look orange too.

Not sure that the redness and pigmentation has improved a lot though, it still looks pretty much the same. Fed up with trying so many different products and spending a lot of money on them for no real benefit. Such is life ...

l hate anything from a slow cooker. It has a ‘taste’. Always soggy too

Yes exactly this!

Our Skoda Fabia III.

Partly funded by some pension money it was a 'treat' for us on retirement. It's nothing but trouble with it's stupid computer control. Actually dangerous at times.

The selling garage won't or can't fix it. Skoda importer denies all responsibility. Skoda Czechia also don't want to know.

First time we've ever bought new, losing all that depreciation on a crap car. We will never ever look at a VAG group car again.

Cannot sell it of course... :o(

I think I must be really easily pleased!
Love:
my henry its the best hoover I have ever had.
bread maker, it makes lovely bread, jams and cakes
slow cooker, tasty easy meals minimal effort, I also use it to make cakes.
air fryer gets used most days
crimpit make nice lunches at the weekend, great way to use up little bits of leftovers.
veg chopper is great makes prepping soups and salads so much quicker

I have lots of footwear that i never wear because my big fat wide feet don't fit properly in them but at the time of purchase I tell myself they will be fine, they never are and just sit under the stairs.
LED mask I was convinced I would use it but it gets dragged out once a month when the guilt kicks in i spent so much on it and never use it.
Electric foot file it makes me feel a bit sick using it.
spiralizer i don't think its ever been opened I'm just to lazy to use it, every time i think about it I just think meh I'll just cook spaghetti.

Electric spinning foot file. Rubbish and returned to using a cheap foot file instead
I use mine all the time and only just realised you should replace the spinning bit every now and then - have ordered 4 bits off Amazon.
Steam mop - bought after a recommendation on here
Absolute faff to fill, use and store and it seemed to just dampen the dirt and push it into streaks while filling the room with vapour
I like my steam mop thingy (bought off Aldi centre aisle, you stick towelling pads on the bottom) and use it every week on kitchen floor, I'm ashamed at how dirty the pads get.

Don't like slow cooker - everything goes the same brown colour and needs loads of 'artificial seasoning'.
Don't like hand-held steamer so that's gathering dust - I either iron quickly on tea towel on worktop or use hair straighteners for collars and cuffs (yup, I'm a slob).

Thanks for the tip about the hair straighteners. After using mine this morning and noticing the collar on my blouse wasn't sitting right I used them. Saved me getting the iron and ironing board out. I always use my straighteners to smooth ribbon for craft.

Keyboard for the iPad dh bought for me and subsequently the laptop dh bought for me that I never got registered because there was a problem with our internet. Ended up giving both to family members. Turns out the only thing I can get on with are big old fashioned pcs!!

Recently paid £300 on a conveyancing solicitor's retainer and soon after the sale of my flat fell through.

Oh now that is shit.
😟

A handy gadget for taking the skin off a whole pineapple, coring it and cutting it into rings all at the same time.

It was chuffing useless. I don't even like pineapple that much.

whoamI00 · 07/06/2025 16:09

whoamI00 · 07/06/2025 16:28

Expensive noise cancelling earbuds, they're simple gadgets but with unnecessarily complicated functions

okydokethen · 07/06/2025 16:36

I’ve bought lots of these and it’s been a waste

slow cooker - bland mush
air fryer - does same as fan oven
fancy salad tongs - never use
neck massager - used once
special neck support - total rubbish
various expensive hoovers - don't last

susiedaisy1912 · 07/06/2025 16:42

A huge treadmill that cost over £300 so that I could get fit. Started off using it everyday and put my back out after 2 weeks. Left it a few months and tried again and the same damn thing happened despite me being careful and trying to build up slowly. That was over a year ago. It’s now just stood there taunting me but I’m too prideful to admit defeat and get rid of it.

I have a pair of Le Creuset salt and pepper mills. But the pepper mill has a big crack in it. I have no idea why because it hasn’t been dropped, or anything. It’s only two years old!

That reminds me, I need to contact Le Creuset to see if they’ll replace it…

BeNiceWhenItsFinished · 07/06/2025 17:00

Judging by the several hundred times I have read it on this very thread, I'm beginning to think that 'use less water' will become the new 'cancel the cheque'.

You are probably putting far too much water in I read this on here, you only really need about half a cup.

Same with an Instant Pot-the water just doesn't evaporate.

I thought Oompa Loompas were blue !!

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 07/06/2025 17:12

So many things, but most recent was a pair of Alexander McQueen trainers from Vinted. Only 15 quid, good condition but bloody hell, they are so uncomfortable! Sticking to New Balance.
