Meanwhile Russel Crowe aged 60 is on holiday with his 30 something girlfriend and nobody says a peep. Mick Jagger aged 80 is with a woman younger than his daughters. It's obviously the age difference between the woman and man that enrages people the most. I saw posts referring to the film producer Sam Taylor Johnson and her young bloke as a grooming thing of a "child." Whatever happens, older women must never have liaisons with younger men as they are groomers and perverts but older men with young women are just normal.

CreationNat1on · 27/05/2025 19:29

Older women must never seduce children or engage in grooming paedophilia

YourAmplePlumPoster · 27/05/2025 19:31

Looks like he said something to her if you look at the video and she reacted with her hands in his face. But then, apparently he and Keir Starmer were sniffing cocaine on a train so believe what you like.

How about Mick and Russell?

He awkwardly removed a white tissue from a table as it looked uncouth. There was no cocaine.

Nobody should be having relationships with a person whose teacher they used to be.

Why is that so hard to understand?

YourAmplePlumPoster · 27/05/2025 19:40

He married her at 29 and had plenty of time away from her in Paris at Uni to meet girls his own age but it was her he wanted. His room mate said he got on the train every weekend to go and see her.

I'm sure Mick and Russell will just carry on doing what they do, regardless 🙄 😉

The Crowe Jagger relationships are not the same as the Macrons in any way.

Besides I don't personally care that they are together now but I do fully understand why his parents were alarmed by it so much they sent their own son away when he was a teenager.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 27/05/2025 19:49

As I said, I'm with a bloke 9 years younger. Been together a long time. His family were dead set against the marriage but now very accepting after all this time and quite a few friends were very judgemental. My own family adored him from the offset, especially my Mum. That was back in the day. These days, I'm getting the vibe it would be much harder and I'd be deemed a "groomer and pervert." Especially on here. Not that I give a monkeys.

You are being deliberately obtuse, no one has a problem with the age gap between two adults. People have a problem with a child and his teacher being the beginning of this relationship.

Theres a massive difference between meeting when you are adults and having an age gap and meeting when one of you is a child and continuing the relationship until they are of an age to marry.

Being 9 years older than a 25 year old adult isn't the same as being 25 years oder than a 15 year old teen.

Was he under 18 years old (thereby a child) when you met and were you his teacher and in a position of responsibility.

If the answer is no then nobody would be calling you a groomer. Or care about your age gap.

Because he was groomed and manipulated

Russell Crowe and Jagger didn't take up with these women when they were 15, did they? Also, they were not in a position of authority over said child.

Francesca Annis was 17 years older than Ralph Fiennes when they started their relationship. She got stick (unfairly) and I believe said "He was 36. I did not take the contents of a cradle".

Emmanuel Macron was. Why can't you see that and why do you keep going on about totally different scenarios?

Exactly. Jeremy Forrest was 15 year's older (a smaller age gap than the Macron's) than the schoolgirl in his care who he groomed and ran away with, but nobody is reading that story and going "aww, what a great love affair".

I very much think that you do give a monkeys for some indefinable reason @YourAmplePlumPoster because otherwise you wouldn't be making out anyone would draw a comparison between EN and BM and your relationship. Noone is, because there isn't, unless you were 24 and his teacher.

Inawhyl · 27/05/2025 20:26

There’s a bit of a straw man-ing going on, about “so it’s okay if the man’s older then is it.” Because actually not everyone sees men with significantly younger women as normal or okay btw.

Many on Mumsnet have significant reservations about it including me. It’s not a thing in my social circle and I would look at my male friends funny if they got together with a 21 year old at age 40. And I actually cut off a female friend off who was 27 and in my eyes groomed a 17 year old. It was legal but ill-advised IMO.

Even when the man meets the woman when she’s an adult (which is the bare minimum of decency btw) I still find it problematic, so no it’s not because Macrons wife is the older one!

I think there’s often a lot of misogyny involved in men who don’t date women their age as well as the predatory aspect, and I’ve always found it insulting to women as a whole, even when I was in my 20s and older men were creeping around me.

She is a kiddy fiddler, poor Manny - she groomed him. Not surprised at anything with those two.

That's a disgusting term. Don't use it.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 27/05/2025 21:20

The point I was making is that he went off to the Sorbonne and she said "I hoped he would meet someone his own age" but the fact he wasn't interested in any young ladies his own age and kept getting on the train to see her every weekend, means he was in love with her. By that time, he was a young adult old enough to make up his own mind. The fact they've stayed together all this time means they love each other. Why keep going on about it?

AliasGraced · 27/05/2025 21:32

It is fairly common to know of women who have anger management issues. Screaming, shouting, throwing things. It’s a fine line to then physically attack someone. It happens far more often than we might think.

What about Madonna and her various toyboys, usually someone she's picked up in the gym?
