Can you imagine being his parents. I have a 15 year old son...the thought of a 39 year old teacher or any 39 year old trying it on with him or even thinking about him in a romantic way is horrific.

They are French. Edith Piaf's last husband was 26 to her 46. Vive la difference!

The French aren't as uptight as the English or Americans. There is a lot of pearl clutching on MN today. The legal age in France is 15... It is his choice if he want to sleep with maîtresse grand-mère with the matchstick legs. Whatever gets you through the night.

No, I am not related to Brigitte...

Oh, so he might have deserved it? That domestic abuse and assault is OK?

No I don’t think he deserved it.

I think she might have reacted in a moment of one off intense shock or grief or there could be any number of things happening.

Violence is never okay but is it worse than other forms of abuse ? I do not know the answer to that.

Is Brigitte macron a real threat to one of the most powerful men that’s 24 years her junior and twice her size ? I don’t know.

I think these statements such as “are you saying he’s asking for it” and “shoving is abuse and she is the abuser” is a bit simplistic. I think life is more complex than that.

The idea there is one monster in the relationship and one victim and that one push is worse than passive aggression, insults, cheating or whatever is going on…

I would have to challenge that. I don’t think that usual rhetoric serves anyone or gets to the truth of the matter.

There was also the bag of "coke" on the table that Macron hid at that meeting with Keir Starmer. Maybe she was trying to clean his nose in a rush?

D'y know what? I wondered if she looked up, realised he had half a tonne of talc stuck around his snoz and launched herself at him to get him to sort it before the door was opened but it was already open.

It's such a bizarre movement, even for a fight. His head snapped back and he looked upset. It's a pretty dangerous move to make on someone you love for whatever reason. Necks can be funny things.

You think that being disgusted by a women of nearly 40 having sex with a 15 year old is being ‘uptight’?

Then I am very ‘uptight’ and I thank fuck I live in an ‘uptight’ country.

On a superficial observational level - I am 50/50 about whether this was violent based on the mannerisms. It was absolutely forceful but did she just catch him in the toilet and she was challenging him about what he was doing/snorting in there and inspecting him ‘mum style’ ? We will never know.

TheAutumnCrow · 26/05/2025 17:37

TENSsion · 26/05/2025 17:22

There’s a reason he’s scared to leave her. She’s known him intimately since the age of 15. She groomed him. She will be threatening him with all sorts.

She’s a nasty piece of work and I’m glad she’s being exposed and her abuse is out in the open for robust criticism.

It makes you think - if an actual Head of State of a G7 nation can't leave their abuser, who can?

What a message.

There was no coke, it was a tissue. This has been shown by every reputable news agency in the world. Alex jones and Russian bots are spreading it coke

To the best of my knowledge Edith Piaf wasn't her husband's teacher and in a position of authority and responsibility either.

Or she could have thought he looked at her in a funny way, because that is all it takes with some people.

@NeverDropYourMooncup

I just wanted to post 💐 for the abuse you experienced at the hands of your mother. And I 💯 agree with your interpretation of events between Macron and Brigitte - spot on. You, having been on the receiving end, can read what’s going on here

@Lavenderfarmcottage Genuine question, would you honestly be saying that if the genders were switched here?

Typical male behaviour from 'Brigette'. IYKYK

Also 26 and 15 are so different. I don’t understand anyone who is supporting the Macron’s relationship origins.

And he wasn't a child.

DH and I have been together 25 years, yes we've argued lots, but never ever have either of us hit the other. Shocking.

Me neither. They certainly and quite rightly wouldn't be if he were a teenage girl instead.

People were saying they had the ick the other day with the age gap between Borris and Carrie and she's a grown woman. Baffling!

Do you think that a 39 year old school teacher should begin a relationship with her daughter's 15 year old classmate?. I don't. I think it's abusive. Plus I think she was physically abusive today.
If that makes me a "pearl clutcher", then I'm happy to be one.

All I am saying is that in France, it is legal.

British actor, Aaron Taylor Johnson and the grandmother he married is similar: He was a 17 year old wannabe actor and she was his 40 year old film director (although she looks older). It is legal.

Men do this all the time.

Hang on. There's a great difference between a 26 year old grown man and a 15 year old boy. A 15 year old boy is still hugely vulnerable and not yet formed. Easy prey for a 39 year old glamorous woman in a position of authority. I'm not sure it can be classed as mumsnet "pearl clutching" to be anti paedophilia. A 15 year old is still a child and I would still class a 39 year old preying on them as very wrong no matter the age of consent in France..age of consent means nothing. It's 9 in Iran after all..

Married couple have a row shocker! I really don’t think we know anything about wha5 this does or doesn’t imply about their relationship. It wasn’t a punch.

Jesus. Do people really think that is normal?!

AliasGraced · 26/05/2025 17:50

I just find it so bizarre that she would do that in front of the flight attendants and most probably their staff.
