Boris is 60 and though presumably pretty healthy and wealthy doesn't being 80 when your child is going to be at uni cause challwnges? I always think with these things you are risking a child becoming a care fiver at an early age or having a distorted view of a parent due to a large age gap.

The older Dad option also seems to the option for famous and wealthy men and personally I do not know many women in their bid 30s dating men who by some measures are pensioners.

Good luck to them though

Boris Johnson's wife Carrie announces arrival of fourth child

Mrs Johnson, 37, said they are 'totally smitten' with their new baby girl whom they have named Poppy Eliza Josephine Johnson. She was born on Wednesday at University College London Hospital

Starmer hasn't had a string of children with women younger than his current children! It's so tacky. Can't imagine my DCs feelings if DH suddenly ran off in his fifties and pushed out 4 kids.
Also who is criticising his children? They are the victims.

treetopsgreen · 25/05/2025 08:53

As long as you apply that to Starmer's personal life, his wife and children too.

This is illogical? I have no idea what his dc look like, does he post them on social media? Also no one is criticising the dc...

Who was it who said having sex with Boris Johnson was a bit like a big wardrobe falling on her with the key still inside?

We don't even know their names, do we? Just that he has a teenaged son and daughter?

crumblingschools · 25/05/2025 08:59

But isn’t it different with Starmer’s wife that she was with him before he became an important politician? Carrie got together with Boris when he was well known, and also put herself out there, so is going to get more attention

I know what you mean . A lot of people on here are only starting their families in their mid to late 30s. I was late 20s. And the difference I feel now at late 30s compared to how I felt then is remarkable. I feel wretched some days and couldn't imagine being pregnant or having a toddler. Let alone at 60.

He could live until he's 100. But he's overweight and likes his wine , it's unlikely. He could be in good health at 80, or he could be riddled with dementia or other chronic health conditions. Not a great card to deal a tiny baby.

But, in richer circles I think it matters less. They have lots of people and resources and privileges around them. It won't replace a parent, but it will mean that in the event of Boris's death , the child won't suffer hardship in all the same ways a "normal " family night.

I do like Boris, and always have. I think him and Carrie genuinely love each other and I think he loves fatherhood. In my opinion, he is the prime minister I felt most happy with.

The serial affairs, the lying (not just as a politician)? The inability to admit wrong doing?

It's important to remember that he wasn't ousted because of Covid, he was ousted because Tory MPs were sick of him.

CharlotteRumpling · 25/05/2025 09:03

I also think there is no way Theresa May or Rishi Sunak could have got away with having a string of affairs and 9 - 10 children. Just as Barack Obama couldn't have.

Also re: 'loving fatherhood'

1). Affairs are time consuming - he was either skiving off work or spending time with his mistresses when he could have been spending time with his first 4 children.

2). He didn't even acknowledge one of his children until forced to do so.

BoudiccaRuled · 25/05/2025 09:21

presumably pretty healthy

A pretty massive presumption. Have you seen the man?!

Must admit I did have a wry smile at Carrie saying her elderly DD was delighted to have a sister. She'll be thrilled one day to find she's got three or four others (at least) out there.

The AncestryDNA finds for that group of siblings would be revealing

lljkk · 25/05/2025 09:34

BJ seems a lot more involved with this crop than the ones with 2nd wife. Which is a good thing.

Bit I kinda think (controversially, admittedly) that his ways kind of make him "human".

Definitely, is it the posh thing and how so many are subservient to that?

I think we might have different perspectives on what it means to be 'human'.

For instance, Liz Truss might be mad as a box of frogs, but I am pretty sure she doesn't have secret children.

dottydodah · 25/05/2025 09:43

The pictures of Carrie and her new baby are lovely ,she looks radiant.Surely a picture to warm the heart? Boris wasnt perfect but he doesnt deserve some of the nasty comments on here.Lots of wealthy older men have younger wives. Like it or not ,that is nature .His children will be well provided for financially ,and Carrie is young and healthy.Boris is very charismatic ,and attractive to women .Judging by some men on here he is a saint! People saying men are "picked" by women are way off the mark. We hear daily on MN and elsewhere, of high achieving well off women "settling" for lazy men .Workshy, and not engaged with their families at all!

It’s obviously the white male thing.

See also Trump who has kids from multiple mothers although far less so.

Is this true or speculation about his older children? It was odd that none of them were there when he became PM.

It’s true, very sadly

and there are 10 children

as for those speculating on why he he was so repellent he had to attract these women power is a great aphrodisiac

Absolutely.

It’s disgusting and hypocritical how the so-called “family values” politicians and voters that tormented the squeaky clean Obamas got behind Trump.

You mean Boris who said to someone at an event about his current marriage that he had 'buyer's remorse'?

LlynTegid · 25/05/2025 09:52

"Bonding over a love of Shakespeare' when London Mayor, for example.

Fair enough.
As long as you apply that to Starmer's personal life, his wife and children too.

Why just him?

There have been more politicians than just them two!

Fwiw I have an opinion on all politicians with politics I don’t agree with, anyone who’s had an affair that’s known about, anyone who’s done something criminal we know about and anyone who lives a life I don’t agree with who have chosen to make that life public and therefore open to discussion.

That’s positive or negative opinion.

The same way people will have an opinion on any actions I make in public and anything private that I choose to indulge to them.

edited to change too to two 🤦🏼‍♀️

The fact that he’s a lying, philandering fucktard might be more of an issue than his age.

Yes this. I find it mine boggling Carrie is prepared to turn a blind eye to all the stories.

Perhaps you aren't familiar with his past.

This is just the affairs. I know it's a tabloid article, but that is the point - where were his children while all this was grabbing headlines?

I'm not surprised that Carrie Johnson is always travelling. His cheating is pathological. Why would she trust him alone?

No, the pictures don't warm my heart.

I think about all the people who led solitary lives with new babies, while Boris 'misunderstood' the rules he announced to everyone else.

Vermin · 25/05/2025 09:57

She’s outrageously ambitious and will likely be the one to skip away to the nearest Cotswolds power guy once Boris has no political currency left. She’s not even 40 yet. Taking into account her own dysfunctional childhood (product of an affair, father remained married to his wife) she’s making a decent job of it with these four but I can’t see Boris as being enough for her long term.

(& aren’t there 11 at least? Charlotte Owen, the art dealer’s daughter and Jennifer Arcuri’s very blonde child who holds a super injunction on reporting)

Vermin · 25/05/2025 09:59

Also - for those with a modicum of remaining sympathy for the liar Johnson on this thread, I do recommend the easily digested British Scandal podcast series about him just to refresh your memories about his past.
