Boris is 60 and though presumably pretty healthy and wealthy doesn't being 80 when your child is going to be at uni cause challwnges? I always think with these things you are risking a child becoming a care fiver at an early age or having a distorted view of a parent due to a large age gap.

The older Dad option also seems to the option for famous and wealthy men and personally I do not know many women in their bid 30s dating men who by some measures are pensioners.

Good luck to them though

Boris Johnson's wife Carrie announces arrival of fourth child

Mrs Johnson, 37, said they are 'totally smitten' with their new baby girl whom they have named Poppy Eliza Josephine Johnson. She was born on Wednesday at University College London Hospital

I love a good thread about politicians and the ages they have their children.
Anyway could be worse at least the woman is close in age to Boris. I know a child who's dad is in his 70s and mum in her 20s. Imagine the existential crisis they will have when old enough to work out the maths 😳

Glad it is a healthy baby. Sympathy for all his children, for having the worst ever Prime Minister and a serial liar as their father.

I'd like him to have no more, because he is in prison as he should be, for the deaths he caused by his inaction. My lifelong opposition to the death penalty is the sole reason I would spare him the rope.

He didn't cause any deaths, that's nonsense.
He made many mistakes as PM, but the biggest one was not trusting his own instincts to let people make their own decisions about how to handle the pandemic. Instead, he caved into media pressure and went against his own libertarian beliefs. The consequences of which still affect so many people today, especially the young.

I don't envy anyone having that many kids but, if it means he cranks out more books and journalism then that's fine - I always used to enjoy his pieces in the Telegraph.

I’m the same age as Boris Johnson and I would be so tired having a child around at my age ( that wasn’t a grandchild ) but I guess it’s just different because Carrie is still young , they have money and a Nanny( I suppose ) and he probably isn’t too involved with the actual heavy lifting of a new born .
They are certainly busy whatever the set up is with them. I can remember he had a son with Carrie during lockdown too.

I knew he now had two. But suddenly it's 4. I don't think age is that much of a problem when the Dad is as wealthy and successful as Boris.

Old men's sperm is very much a factor. Linked to increases in autism, iirc.

treetopsgreen · 24/05/2025 19:16

They are both gross imo

Much as I do love these threads slagging off enquiring about the lives of politicians, I very much look forward to day when we never hear about this particularly gruesome couple ever again.

scalt · 24/05/2025 19:23

Did Saint Boris ever graduate to adulthood himself?

And is Carrie his wife? I thought she was his daughter, when he took her by the hand to platty joobs, and thought people were saying “Boo-ris! Boo-ris!”

Greenartywitch · 24/05/2025 19:24

I never understand why any woman would want to have children with this man.

JohnTheRevelator · 24/05/2025 19:25

They kept that quiet! I had no idea they were expecting another one.

HollyBerryz · 24/05/2025 17:38

I didn't realise they'd even had no 3 let alone 4.

Same!

IcedPurple · 24/05/2025 19:28

4 children under the age of 5 is a lot, even when the parents are rich and neither seems to work much.

I'm kind of surprised that he and Carrie are still together and from what I can tell they seem happy. Takes all sorts I guess.

purplecheesecake · 24/05/2025 19:32

It’s kind of crazy to me that Carrie has had FOUR children in the time since I had my youngest (who I still find a bit of a handful even now, at age five!) But I suppose it’s much easier when you have lots of help.

I think Boris probably isn’t very involved as a dad, but it’s more of a class/wealth thing than an age thing. I doubt he’d have been very involved at 40 either.

@Cynic17

Well two things, 1) he didn't lock down fast enough but whether that descion was his or not who knows
2) Boris had to listen to the health experts Chris whitty and valance. He couldn't just make those descions alone
3) it was clear it caught them all by surprise and Boris boasted of shaking people's hands on a COVID ward.
4) he was supposed to be taking us through Brexit and instead found himself totally side swiped by COVID

  1. he then caught COVID himself and became severely life threateningly unwell also of course giving him a huge dose of protection.
  2. it swept through no 10 and I'm sure they all felt immune after and when Boris had the party sprung on him I'm sure they all felt safe.
  3. many people who still had to work at various points got close with or without alcohol because they were together all day
AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 24/05/2025 19:37

Must admit I did have a wry smile at Carrie saying her elderly DD was delighted to have a sister. She'll be thrilled one day to find she's got three or four others (at least) out there.

Thelostjewels · 24/05/2025 19:37
  • well that was more than two things 🫣

I view it as low self esteem, not a nice thing at all.

I agree with anyone choosing not to announce a pregnancy and keeping it quiet, especially if there has been a previous miscarriage as happened to Carrie Johnson.

numbbumm · 24/05/2025 20:20

Theres a good chance he’ll be dead before the child leaves university

So he's in double figures now, although how far in we'll probably never know!! Good grief.

He’s definitely not the worst ever Prime Minister. Have you forgotten Liz Truss?

TheNuthatch · 24/05/2025 20:33

I wish Carrie and her new baby health and happiness.
Some of the comments on this thread are awful. Carrie is a mum of 4, and is probably on MN.

The family’s last holiday was a freebie in Saudi Arabia.

(Baroness) Charlotte Owen was my temp gofer in the HoC in 2017. Very very pretty girl. Now she’s a legislating peer.

take from that what you will.

What’s the scoop on that?? Very odd… a peer?
