Popular songs you actually don’t like

Neighbours a few doors away have been out in the garden, having a bbq and playing music.
Earlier, they played ‘Sweet Caroline’ on loop 4 times 🤪
I remember reading somewhere (maybe on MN?!) that some people can’t stand this song.
Personally, I don’t mind it, but maybe 4 times is a bit much!.

What other songs which are deemed “popular” but actually grates on your nerves?
Mine are Seal’s Kiss From a Rose, The B-52s Love Shack and Fairground Attraction’s Perfect - just for starters!

Angels by Robbie Williams makes my skin crawl.

Bohemian bloody rhapsody by Queen. Just utter, overblown, pretentious tosh from beginning to end.

"Imagine" is an awful dirge and pseudo-philosophical nonsense sung by a hypocrite.

I love Sweet Caroline because I love that name!

Most songs that gets overplayed by pub singers. Therefore pretty much every Oasis song (who I loved at the time).

Isn’t she lovely by Stevie Wonder, and glad to see I’m not the only one who intensely dislikes Mull of Kintyre too. It’s such a boring dirge and the fact that the bagpipes are actually the best bit of the song shows just how truly awful it is!

Totally agree about Imagine by Lennon - all the hypocrisy and pretension!
Wrong time of the year, but All I want for Christmas by Mariah Carey makes me want to throw the radio out of the window.

Same, my sister who is 16 years younger loves it but I just can’t deal with it …

most Britney songs, I was a Christina Aguilera girl, there’s a few Britney songs I like but they are a little less known.
im also not a massive fan of Beyoncé… apart from a few I don’t really like many of her songs.

I should also have said ‘This Ain’t Texas’ by Beyoncé, to my ears it sounds like a modern day Cotton Eye Joe.

I agree; but I love Dave Gorman talking about how it's basically the same as If You're Happy And You Know It but with a slightly different arrangement!

She had a very powerful voice, but not a pleasant one in any way. Her voice and Dusty Springfield's voice were like night and day.

Cilla's voice was as beautiful as her treatment of other people when the cameras weren't rolling.

In general, really dislike most stuff under the 'Britpop' umbrella. It was the death of indie as far as I was concerned.

There are lots of popular songs I don't like, but at the top of my list is Bohemian Rhapsody. I absolutely detest it with a passion.
