Just for fun or to have a moan. What do you hate the most.

All of them but especially anything that’s endlessly repetitive and never really finished, like loading the dishwasher, cleaning the kitchen and dealing with washing.

Middlemarch123 · 13/05/2025 20:12

Trying to get the wraparound glass shower screen streak free. Use a wiper and Method shower cleaner, looks great for five minutes, one of us has a shower, and it’s a horrible smeary mess again.

Hoovering the stairs

Cleaning the insides of the windows (the window cleaner does outside). They still look terrible when the sun shines!

I clean the windows with hot soapy water then use a piece of scrunched up newspaper to dry it off, no streaks. I don't know why this works but it does.

Sorting out washing and putting it away.

Changing duvet cover! I have one functional arm… within 5 minutes I’m swearing and Sweating!!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 13/05/2025 22:05

Cleaning the dishwasher filter because DP struggles with the concept of scraping plates despite being frequently reminded and when we had a lodger, cleaning the shower drain of veet+hair.

Well, they were the most hated. I don't have to do either of them now; lodger was told to sling her hook and DP was presented with the DW filter into his bare hands without warning after I had to retrieve it from under three inches of slimy water as he mopped the floor.

Get a coverless duvet!!!! They are dry in an hour on the line.

Mopping floors, I've been known to leave them for ages, and changing the cat litter and cleaning out the tray with boiling water, I do this once a week (I take out poos as soon as she does them and dispose in a poo bin outside). I really miss her pooing alfresco

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 13/05/2025 22:38

Mopping or ironing.

Here you go. Clearly a joke, no?

Read the first post. They then went on to say they did it every couple of months in another post. This person was having a laugh at the madness of it.

I read some decluttering expect advice to time yourself emptying the dishwasher- she said it takes minutes not half an hour, which to me I think it does. Helped me see it as less of a chore….. still leave it for DH to do most the time though 🤣

This is the ridiculous thing. It really doesn't take time to unload. I just have some mental block over it.

What I do now is a layer while the coffee machine heats up, then the other layer after drinking the coffee. Why oh why is that machine an issue. The alternative of having to wash up by hand is so much worse.

MammaTo · 14/05/2025 11:12

Dishes. Don’t have a dishwasher as kitchen is too small and I HATE it

I reckon it’s because it’s a daily task so therefore hideously boring and monotonous. Good idea with coffee machine 😊

Putting stuff away (laundry, shopping, paperwork, everything that's sodding well out of place).

Delatron · 14/05/2025 15:47

Yeah I was just thinking that a huge part of my life is just putting stuff that is in the wrong place in to the right place - and it’s mind numbingly boring. Laundry, shopping, shoes, bags, shit that’s all over the floor etc etc.

Taking the food shopping out of the boot of the car, dragging it into the house and putting it away. I love the actual food shop though!

Washing the walls/ceiling.

I have literally never done this - is this something people do?

None of the options:

Emptying dishwasher
Putting washing away

Same

TooTiredToType77 · 14/05/2025 18:19

Cooking! Every bloody day.

sugarandplum · 14/05/2025 18:38

Folding the laundry

Spidey66 · 14/05/2025 18:39

Changing quilt covers.

I'd say ironing if I did it.
