Shame he’s great eye
candy and talks sense

Maybe he read your post @Parsley1234 and it gave him the boost. He’s back.

Parsley1234 · 07/06/2025 18:43

Let’s hope 🤣😳😜

Parsley1234 · 09/06/2025 08:18

I have spent a lot of time in London and Essex the last month with work shows I think it’s getting very tense there with racial tension. The racism I have experienced first hand is quite overt regarding the illegal migration. I live in Glos we have had a few migrants here but not like London Essex Kent

@Parsley1234you do sum them up well 😬

@TheNuthatchI’ve been avoiding Labour nonsense. It’s too much just to hear them drone on lying as they do. They are very much disliked aren’t they by many.

Yep, me too. Useless feckers aren't worth listening to so tuned out. I did laugh that they announced the u turn at exactly the same time Farage was due to speak.
There's a podcast out tomorrow called The Wargame if you're interested. It's a wargame simulation and they have Amber Rudd, Jack Straw, and Ben Wallace is playing the prime minister Easter Wink

Haha I saw that made me laugh. I look at the pro Starmer / Labour stuff on here then read that irl. Maybe he’ll have to avoid the footy from now on.

Podcast sounds good, Wallace talks sense.

Paul2023 · 09/06/2025 16:07

I’ve no doubt she has a tough job and I don’t envy her but I think Reeves is out of her depth. I really don’t think she really knows what’s she’s doing and is just making decisions and hoping for the best.
Starmer will move her I bet at the next reshuffle.
And I don’t know who’d do any better.

I think there are so many challenges that whoever is in power would have a mountain to climb.

This isn’t 1997, things are way more complicated now.

User450877 · 09/06/2025 16:09

Agree it’s a bad hand but thought Hunt was doing a broadly good job and labour came in and panicked. The idea they’ve now put public finances on a firm footing is so risible - is anyone buying that?

Paul2023 · 09/06/2025 16:13

The Tories can’t say anything though. They had 14 years.

Austerity didn’t work, they ruined the justice system, let immigration spiral out of control, fought over Brexit , cut public services to the bone in the name of efficiency savings, let prisons fill up to bursting point , and then still crashed the economy after 14 bloody years.

It wouldn’t have been so bad if the Tories left the country in a better state than they did in 2010 but they didn’t . And I’ve voted for them previously.

One good thing and I mean one thing so far, is that Labour are atleast trying to sort out public services and seem to be listening to the unions. I didn’t vote for Labour by the way.

No I don’t buy it. Labour will increase taxes and borrow more to pay for public services, adding to the debt.
But- we need public services to work right now so what else do they do?

EasternStandard · 09/06/2025 16:30

They really have ballsed up the WFA thing. What a mess for them.

TheNuthatch · 09/06/2025 16:39

@Paul2023 I agree with much of your criticism of the tories, but I think Sunak and Hunt were doing a good job. Much better than the current government. Raising employer NI was a massive mistake from Labour that will hamper growth. I also agree that there will be more tax rises and borrowing. Any credibility that Reeves (and Starmer) had left has been shot to pieces today.

I disagree with simply ploughing more and more money into the NHS (controversial I know). It's expected that another £30 billion will be allocated on Wednesday, but NHS bosses are already saying it's not enough to avoid ward closures. It's become a bottomless pit that we simply can't afford in it's current form imo.

I agree. The cost is staggering and a bottomless pit.

User450877 · 09/06/2025 16:54

Yes - I didn’t say I thought the tories overall were doing a good job, but I’d like to have seen what Sunak and Hunt did with more time.

i know it’s a bad hand but there were better ideas out there, they could’ve listened to many of the policy economists.

Parsley1234 · 09/06/2025 17:17

The vast majority of the UK don’t look after their health. The NHS is not fit for purpose we have too much expectation on it especially with the spiralling immigration that are not net contributors. It’s a bloody mess abd what else is a mess is the MOJ recruitment portal jeez like pulling teeth to get anywhere with it it’s so clunky like all the government departments

Parsley1234 · 09/06/2025 17:18

Sunak and Hunt compared to Starmer and Reeves just no comparison

TheNuthatch · 09/06/2025 17:25

@Parsley1234 spot on.
Good luck with the new job Flowers

OP posts:
Parsley1234 · 09/06/2025 20:28

@TheNuthatch i don’t think there will be a new job no wonder the MOJ can’t get anyone to work in it the recruitment is absolutely shit !

Paul2023 · 10/06/2025 08:45

I agree I’d rather have had Hunt and Sunak, I think they would be doing better than Reeves and Starmer.

The NHS is overwhelmed because the population is bigger with immigration that’s spiralled out of control for the last two decades and more people living longer.

We’re going to have less people paying into the pot as time goes on and the population will only get bigger. The NHS is fucked in its current form and I think we should look at all options.

No one wants to make radical decisions though, so whoever is in charge just ploughs more money into it.

I really think the UK needs a new model and make people responsible for their own health.

People scoff at changes to the NHs, but if you pay tax you already have health insurance, a proportion of it goes to the NHS. So effectively it isn’t free it’s paid for by working people. About £200 a month of my tax goes to the NHS. I’m paying for people who have never paid a penny into it. Why should I?

TheNuthatch · 10/06/2025 09:38

@Paul2023 Yeah, I feel the same. It will bankrupt the UK eventually. Perhaps it should be re-named to GHS (global health service).

Labour have just demonstrated perfectly how not to do a u turn. Reeves' interview yesterday, and the treasury minister's interview last night were painful to watch. Both openly accused of lying by the interviewers.

More good news for the chancellor this morning.

The UK's jobless rate ticked up to 4.6% in April while payrolled employment has fallen sharply since, according to official figures covering the period when budget tax hikes on businesses came into effect.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said the new unemployment rate covering the three months to April was the highest since July 2021.

Good I’m glad interviewers are calling them out as liars.

But that payroll info that’s shocking. Such bad policy leading to that.
