A bank holiday chuckle for us all - saw this on X:

Apparently the popular car brand Kia announced a new model that performs u-turns unaided.

The Kia Starmer will be available from October, just in time for the winter.

Love it.

EasternStandard · 26/05/2025 12:14

Haha

Just reading headlines on £5bn extra cost it looks like Reform are controlling that Kia

He’s on the back foot.

I wasn’t aware of this but after Bridget Phillipson coming up on my Facebook today and the pile on that she got after posting a post about taking her dog for a walk I looked further into it. Not only did she spend £90 million on PR the DFE spent £46.5 billion on bullshit now they are withdrawing therapy support for adoption and kinship care. They are properly out doing the tories

I cant wait to see BP shuffled out of Education. I just hope she isn't given another department to run. Although the next Ed Sec will be just as bad. It will be the same policies with a different figurehead.

Analysis by the Guardian found Labour's drop in the opinion polls in its first 10 months of power is the largest of any newly elected UK government in 40 years.

Labour are now less trusted than other parties in each of the six problems areas, (immigration, defence, economy, health, housing, law and order). The biggest drops were recorded in health, housing and the economy.

Labour are now less trusted on the economy than the Conservatives.
Amongst those who view the economy negatively, Ipsos polling shows that the decisions of Starmer and Reeves are seen as the biggest contributing factor (56%). More significant that the Covid-19 pandemic, Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and Brexit.

The charts that show just how worried Labour should be about the polls

Whether on leader favourability or on key policy areas, Labour is losing ground on almost every metric

Interesting. And deserved.

User450877 · 27/05/2025 11:53

Yes, absolutely deserved. They came in without a plan, and rushed in a lot of poorly thought out actions they’re still unpicking. They must be hoping these trade deals will bear fruit before the election.

User450877 · 27/05/2025 11:56

BP is awful but shuffling her won’t help - at root their education policies are all bad.

TheNuthatch · 27/05/2025 12:31

I liked Farage's speech today. It was good to hear some carrot after 10 months of stick.

Perhaps Reform will copy Labour, and just not bother to put their plans or costings in a manifesto. It worked for Labour.

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but MN is impossible to use for me.
It freezes on my phone and on my laptop and it's almost as frustrating as a RR budget.

It's working fine for me. Is it just today?

It's actually much better today.

The weekend was impossible to use. Managed to get a lot of gardening done

I just watched. Labour will have a hard task.

Talks of more tax rises in the Autumn. We’ll see how people react to that. I can’t see it’ll be good for Starmer, Reeves and co.

Who will they target next? Scary thought.

Rumoured changes to salary sacrifice pensions. I’ve just got to a point in my life that I can put a decent amount in my pension…and now they want to fuck it up. But of course they will all be fine with their MP pensions.

Maybe it's time to start stuffing money into the mattress until Labour get booted out! 4 years, tick tock.
If they carry on as they are, we will not see another Labour government for a long time. They will need to wait until there are enough people of voting age who can't remember the previous Labour government.
It feels like we will spend the next 4 years dreading and speculating over every fiscal event. I never felt this pessimistic under the tories.

Yes and there’s been less chat about lowering the voting age to 16.
