Fine, I'm happy to hear your anti labour thoughts at last. All we have heard from you up until now is criticism. This thread is not a Reform bashing, or Boris bashing thread. There are other threads to do that if that's your vibe.

Today's topics have been centred around Labour's treatment of the vulnerable, and now kids with SEN. Maybe you could share your thoughts on that?

Accusing posters on this thread of lacking in moral compass is not a great way to endear yourself.

I asked if you’d rather have Reform in government. Would you?

TheNuthatch · 18/05/2025 16:46

twistyizzy · 18/05/2025 15:53

SEND kids were always going to be disproportionately impacted by this. Combined with concerns over EHCPs being restricted really gives a picture of how Labour view SEND + kids

It does, and it sickens me.

…And I’m not too bothered about not endearing myself to anyone who condones or minimises Partygate. Sorry not sorry.

That’s ok. I know it worked, I said it was a highly effective campaign.

Did you spend lockdown at home?

On second thoughts, don't bother answering. It was 5 years ago, and a total derail of the thread. I doubt you would like, or agree with my views on the lockdowns anyway.

Yes getting back to 2025, would you rather have Reform in government [asks politely for the third time].

Where I live, it will be a straight fight between Labour and Reform. If I have to vote Reform to remove this shit shower, I will. I'm hoping the tories will be electable by then, but if not, so be it.

How will you vote? Why do you think it's acceptable to ask others that question? I only see people from the left thinking they have a right to other people's voting history or intention.

Well, that's honest at least.

I'm not coy at all. I feel politically homeless and wouldn't want to vote for any of them right now. However, I would never in a gazillion years vote for Reform. Call me old fashioned but I just get a bit queazy about racism and xenophobia. There are certain things that are just non-negotiable.

Which is not at all necessary Nuthatch, given that this is a thread about the utter uselessness of this shit show of a government, an observation that transcends party alliances - or those with none at all - and doesn't require any interrogation or declaration of those who want to join in that conversation. And those who don't like it can go whistle.

Upstartled · 18/05/2025 17:54

In fact, you could start your own thread. You could call it... 'Labour's shit but let's not say anything in case a handful of women talking on MN tips the dial on the political landscape' and then you could fill it with picture of flowers, or whatever?

Tice has said Reform councils will support independent schools in dealing with the VAT policy + promised again to repeal it. At this stage I'm a 1 issue voter so.....

Yes they can do that, sounds good.

Meanwhile mn is full of Labour posters trying to shame anyone who doesn’t support that party. No explanations on this thread necessary.

There’s a reason they’ve lost so much support.

At this point, I'd be more ashamed to be a labour supporter than any other!

I’m fine with that. It’s just the harking back to fabricated glory days of the previous lot that rankles. They did ridiculous harm to the country (remember Brexit) but that all seems to have been airbrushed out. It’s laughable.

EasternStandard · 18/05/2025 18:39

Interesting some Labour MPs are speaking up on reset. I did wonder if they’d worry about their votes. It’s easy to sell FOM type stuff to some Labour voters but not all and the red wall is what politicians want these days.

Jo White, MP for Bassetlaw and head of the Red Wall group of MPs, told The Telegraph: “We tighten immigration with one hand and potentially loosen the strings with the other.

“Whilst the scheme already operates with Australia, Canada and New Zealand, I don’t see young people from areas like mine benefiting from it unless there are very clear parameters.”

She added: “If this just becomes a way of overseas kids filling the low paid job vacancies in London rather than looking to see how young people from areas like mine could be opened up to opportunities and experiences that they would never have otherwise dreamed of then I would really question the value of it.”

I think racism and xenophobia trumps everything else on the shame totem pole. I don’t like like Labour but I fucking detest everything Reform stands for.

Love that from Jo White. She's spot on. It's not working class kids from Wigan who will benefit from it. The devil will be in the detail.
