*sorry don't know what ameffictive means 😁

I get two deliveries a week and think it is more cost-effective. Berries and leaves only last a couple of days, and it’s nice to get more for the weekend.

Also, once a week usually means a top-up at the corner shop or from just-eat, both of which are expensive and often tempt me into impulse buys.

What do you think yourself, OP?

Acc0untant · 10/05/2025 19:53

Depends how much you spend. Tesco has a £50 minimum spend so having to spend twice that is more than we'd usually spend in a week.

KillingEvesbestmate · 10/05/2025 19:54

I'm thinking to get two deliveries of £60.00

I have the delivery pass.
I was thinking Monday to Wednesday. And then Thursday to Sunday.

Yes we do two deliveries because everything used to just go off and I'd also forget why I'd bought things.

DutchCamper · 10/05/2025 19:57

I have always had Sunday for
the week and Thursday for the weekend, but we spend a lot on food so would never be under the delivery pass limit!

SpinandSing · 10/05/2025 19:58

I get a delivery every 5 days. You have to get used to it being different days but it's much more cost effective. Less waste and fresher food.

mambojambodothetango · 10/05/2025 20:00

It's taken me years of paying for the smart pass to realise that I'm allowed to get as many deliveries of £40+ as I like! I've got my Mum's mentality of the weekly shop ingrained in my DNA so it's taken over a decade to decide that I don't need to get a week's worth of food in one go. It's a game changer for me.

stopringingme · 10/05/2025 20:01

I sometimes do two deliveries a week as I have delivery pass so it doesn't cost for each delivery.

It works out better for fresh items and also means I do not have to play fridge jenga to get everything in the fridge and things don't get forgotten at the back.

And you'd have two delivery charges.

Thank you everyone.Im gong to do I think Monday to Wednesday and then Thursday to Sunday. I think it will help with food costs!

Oh my goodness why have I not thought of this before?? This is so smart? Our fridge is bulging water the shop and then you're left meal planning around the dates on the food which annoys me .

I'm going to have a think about this now!

NoBiscuitsLeftInMyTin · 10/05/2025 20:13

Asda are £6.95/month and unlimited deliveries if you spend over £40 each time which is hardly difficult

TheignT · 10/05/2025 20:14

I have the cheap pass so only deliveries on Tuesday to Thursday. When I renew the pass I'm going to change as I think two deliveries would be better mainly because I end up spending as much or more on a top up shop as a main shop. If I don't see it I won't buy it,.........I hope.

KillingEvesbestmate · 10/05/2025 20:15

I'm with Tesco. I've got a delivery pass.
I just thought about it because I saw an old thread on here with someone suggesting it.

SharpenerHarpenden · 10/05/2025 20:17

Of course. I don't understand how someone could only do one shop a week tbh!

ImFineItsAllFine · 10/05/2025 20:20

For us it is more cost effective as it's totally eliminated the need for top up shops. We have the asda delivery pass.

sleeplessinmumsville · 10/05/2025 20:22

I do exactly this after reading it on here, one delivery on a Monday and another delivery on a Thursday. Works well for us, is more cost effective (we have a delivery pass) and get less waste. It feels less of a mental burden only having to meal plan for 3 or 4 days a time.

wondererannie · 10/05/2025 20:23

I do every 5 days
7 days too long for me
Every 3 or 4 days felt too short
6 shops a month every 5 days seems to work best for me

Discombobble · 10/05/2025 20:26

It’s more cost effective to get off your arse and go to the supermarket

Toomanydogwalks · 10/05/2025 20:28

I used to do a shop every 5 days and for some unknown reason stopped. I need to go back to this; veg is not lasting very long these days. Thanks for the reminder!!!

Treeleaf11 · 10/05/2025 20:28

We get 2 deliveries a week. I would be doing additional more expensive top up shops if only had one delivery.
Tesco delivery pass is 3.99 a month for unlimited deliveries after 3pm. It does have a minimum spend but there is 5 adults so we eat a lot.

I normally spend more if I go to the shop. Get tempted by random stuff. Plus petrol costs for a 20 mile round trip.

Elpheba · 10/05/2025 20:30

We average 2 a week but don’t do set days. Probably every 4-5 days- agree it makes so much more sense if you’ve got a delivery pass. I definitely spend less and waste less when I plan 3 days of meals at a time, stuff doesn’t spoil and I don’t end up being tempted by random things by doing top up shops.
