I’ve just been on my daily walk through some fields and spotted a fox running through fields. I watched it for ages.
Beautiful creature.
Totally made my day and was lovely to just be in the moment watching nature.

How lovely. Same sort of thing for me I just love nature and wildlife. Hearing the birds is lovely and hearing a solitary blackbird sing is such a pleasure. Small simple things.

Having good interactions with strangers out and about always improves my day.

MrsSkylerWhite · 08/05/2025 19:46

Watching our blackbird chuck bark chippings onto the lawn as it looks for dinner (even though it’s quite annoying too 😁).

TheHappyBug · 08/05/2025 19:52

Same for me OP, I love walking the dog at this time of year seeing all the little ducklings and the swans on the nest. Last year I spent a whole weekend watching a leaf cutter bee making a nest in my garden wall.

Here is one of my favourite pictures of spring so far!

Just been out into my greenhouse!! Progress even since last night!! Few more pumpkin seeds have sprouted and peas are coming on!! Sunflowers are budding the next row of leaves!! All exciting stuff!!

EdithStourton · 08/05/2025 19:57

Seeing wildlife. I had a glimpse of a hare when walking the dogs this afternoon, and a goldfinch scolding me as walked underneath it.

Newyorklady · 08/05/2025 19:58

Such lovely responses.
Seems like nature really makes us happier !

I like watching the blackbirds foraging. There's a nest in the gutter of the house opposite, and I like to watch the parent birds go in and out with bits (and hearing the babies squawking!). In a few weeks it will be flight school near here - the baby birds learning to fly between hedges, trees, bits of wall etc. Smaller short flights that build up.

I could sit and watch birds and listen to them all day.
we have some gorgeous blue tits and a robin visit our garden.
Absolute joy.

This week, every day it's been watching a baby Robin hop around the garden our after it's parents seemed to abandon it last weekend (which they always do when the time's right). With a background of Blackbird song! Bliss.

We've also got a duck with 15 tiny ducklings on the canal which I see most days on my walk to/from work, and a couple of swans on a nest so expect to see some cygnets soon.

Even seeing a couple of rats in our garden a few weeks ago was quite exciting as that's something new, but they didn't hang around for long. Usually it's just hedgehogs, squirrels, etc. But we also had a pheasant in our garden a few weeks ago which was a first!

It's not as if we live in deep countryside - it's a large village (6000 people) close to a small city and a large town, within sight of the sea and main railway line on one side and the motorway on the other, but we have noticed more and more wildlife around over the past few years.

Marvellous. I’ll add mine, whilst gardening the other day. Love is most definitely in the air.

Sensitive image. 🤣

shellyleppard · 08/05/2025 20:11

Definitely watching the birds in the garden. Just today we had one very large crow ( my cats eyes lit up) 😺🤣 six blackbirds, two blue tits and endless starlings. No sign of the hedgehog's though.....i live in quite a built up area but get a lot of wildlife. We have a flat shed roof and I get glared at by the birds if supplies are low 🤣 also get magpies, wood pigeons and the occasional very nervous dove

Oh I do…it what’s helped me in the first place. I live in a small village in Aberdeenshire ( ex London lass…so it’s a joy) and I look over at fields and cows etc….and a short walk to a small beach/cove.

Sitting in the cove just meditating…( actually I just plonk myself down on the driest rock and close my eyes!!) listening to the sea is soul calming.

the walk back home, up a steep hill kinda undoes that …but it’s great whilst it lasts.

Happyher · 08/05/2025 20:32

Today I noticed my yellow leaved Choisya shrub had white flowers. I must have had this plant 5 years and it has never flowered once before

We’re retiring to Perth city.

I get you 😊

A cup of tea ☕️

I also see loads on dog walks that makes me smile - it really is a lifestyle choice having a dog! The first woodpecker always makes me smile. Butterfly season. Swifts flying low along the fields before they emigrate.

LovelySG · 08/05/2025 20:48

Yes to all the birds, foxes, nature.
Plus:
When one of my kids calls just for a chat about nothing in particular
The house being clean and the laundry being up to date
Clean sheets
A bath with my posh bubble bath
A fresh pedicure
A hot chocolate on the sofa, with the dog, watching my favourite tv programme
