I'm 5'8". I font think I'm tall, but some people refer to me as so - mostjy people 45+ish. I do think women (and men) are getting taller. I was definitely "tall" at high school in the 80s, these days I I seldom need a "long leg" fit in trousers - suggests to me that my height is pretty mainstream now.

I’m 5’2 so almost everyone seems tall,

dontcryformeargentina · 07/05/2025 10:49

5’7+

Haribosweets · 07/05/2025 10:51

Anything over 5'0! I'm 4'10 though 🤣

TheCurious0range · 07/05/2025 10:54

I'm 5'9 I'm the tallest person in my immediate biological family including dad and brother, and when I was growing up I was always taller than my female friends by some way, but younger women seem to be getting taller each generation, DHs cousin in her twenties is 6ft and you don't see many younger women who are 5ft/5ft2/3 which was standard when I was growing up. I don't feel tall anymore unless I'm at my parents' house!

BobbyBiscuits · 07/05/2025 10:55

I guess anyone taller than me but I'm average. I guess model height, so 5'8-9.

Duidi123 · 07/05/2025 10:58

I’m 5’5 but my sisters range from 5’7 to 5’10 so I would say anything over 5’10 seems tall to me. On the other hand my MIL is 4’10 so I seem very tall to her and my 5’10 sister is practically a giant!

DryIce · 07/05/2025 11:09

I'm 5'9 and feel on the taller side of average. I don't get comments about it.

I'd consider noticeably tall to start about 5'11

I wonder if shops have changed the minimum leg length for trousers. I remember in the 90s as a teen I used to often get the longer leg length trousers (I’m 5’8”) but now they’re always too long. But maybe that’s cos now I like to flash some ankle skin, but back then I was a bit of a skater and jeans needed to be dragging along the floor 🤣 (always a nightmare when it rained - it’d seep up your entire leg!)

Its jumpsuits I have a problem with - I have a longer than average torso, rather than long legs I think (my DD has the same thing) and jumpsuits & dungarees always give me the worst camel toe!! Really annoying cos I do love a jumpsuit 😢

5ft 8 plus

blindblinds · 07/05/2025 11:14

5”10 in 40 or older age group6 ft in sub 40s

What a load of crap 😆

BertieBotts · 07/05/2025 11:15

I'm 5'7 or 8 (I forget ..170cm).

I don't feel tall, although I think statistically I am, but I think that's because I'm still shorter than most men. DH is the same height and is considered short.

It is quite useful as things tend to be sized for me as I'm within a fairly average overall human height range, I think.

Kpo58 · 07/05/2025 11:26

I personally see 5'5 and under as tiny, 5'6 to 5'9 as average and 5'10 to 6' as tallish and 6'1+ as tall.

I wish that shoe shops would keep up with today's heights as it's really difficult to buy shoes in the larger sizes.

Pedallleur · 07/05/2025 11:56

Over 5'10 but I see a lot of tall girls now compared to say 30 years ago. if you go to eg Germany/Holland there seem to be an abundance of over 6ft women

LuckyOrMaybe · 07/05/2025 12:58

As someone commented earlier, body shape / build contributes to people's perception of your size. I am unquestionably tall (5'11on a bad day, 6' if I've been to the osteopath and my back's straightened out ...) - but long bodied and currently overweight. So I'm seen more as average height if people aren't close to me / have a reference point. If I'm next to them I'm sadly enormous.
My daughter is on the borderline of tall I think, not sure if she's 5'8 or 5'9. Definitely looks tall as she's thin and wiry. But in our household she's the "little one" :) She notices the difference in different contexts, sometimes she's clearly tall and other times she's amongst loads of people her size and feels average.
