Doubt it, if India had wanted a war they would have attacked military targets. Most likely some skirmishes.

Plus Pakistan just did an Iran and said it would get back at India at a time and place of it’s choosing so assume it will be another terrorist attack at some poing given it’s their favourite thing to do.

This is selfish on me asking. I'm going on holiday to see my family in the south, before taking a fun trip to Goa.

I agree. I absolutely do not want to see Pakistani civilians being killed either intentionally or unintentionally. However I support India in this matter and hope they use proportionate self defence as they deem necessary.

what do you mean by 'proportionate self defence'? you are aware that both are nuclear powers. Do you know what the consequences could mean both on a local level and global level if a war was to start between them? I'd suggest you do a bit of research before wishing for anything. You give your unfettered support for india without even saying why, I'd love to hear your reasons

Re "demonisation of Pakistan" :

2001 Parliament Attack (14 dead) - Imagine your parliament being attacked by a bunch of gunmen and you will understand India's restraint.

2005 Delhi Bombings (62 dead)- A crowded market and buses

2008 Mumbai Attacks (175 dead) - Taj Hotel, Chabad house (yeah those evil joos who always deserve murdering), for me this is personal as a newly married Singaporean young woman was killed

2016 Pathankot Air Base Attack (7 dead)

2016 Uri Attack (19 dead)

2019 Pulwama Attack (40 dead)

2025 Pahalgam Tourist Attack (26 dead) - Includes one Nepali and One kashmiri muslim man who was a tourist worker

The UK may be sanguine about terror attacks on its teenage girls at rock concerts and buses and tube but it willingly imported its terrorists and does not share a direct border with a terrorist nation. In fact te UK is now exporting its terrorists to other parts of the world, Omar Saeed (middleclass, LSE educated) was just the forerunner.

Re "demonisation" of Islam : Compare airport security before and after 9/11, remember the UK shoebomber (responsible for the liquids rule), security at concerts and museums and realise that all of our lives are directly affected by the jihad of one religion. There are many other issues but people know at a visceral level where the danger lies. Middleclass progressive England shares the attitude of Lucy Powell - to notice the danger/threat is bigotry and racist dogwhistle of course. Not to mention demonisation.

What a very good post. 👏

Friend worked for DFID, for years they sent people out to organise and allocate aid in Pakistan. She said it was a fruitless exercise everyone suspected corruption things became so heated they had to cancel all visits there because of risk to life.

what a sick, twisted and deranged mind you have to wish indiscriminate killing & starvation of an overwhelmingly innocent (majority women and children) - what most independent international organisations have condemned and ICJ considers unlawful & worse still plausible genocide , the ICC has issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu & Gallant.
yes, the issue of terrorism exists but the solution isn’t
annihilation of an entire people, it requires diplomatic solutions aimed at justice. However that’s the problem isn’t it, most people misuse their positions and quietly perpetuate unrest because it usually serves them and others in government a purpose.
anyway, I’m not interested in debating because it makes very little difference arguing with anyone online - I just find your comment utterly disgusting.

this is spot on. Its all just a bit of drama for Modi as its election time. Surely if it was that serious, we'd be getting our embassy staff out. The international community sees it for what it is....it will all fizzle out once the elections are done.

You agree with a post with Pakistan couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery. Surely being one of the few nations that have nuclear capability they can.

That takes a lot of time, money, resources and expertise.

This is not spot on. Hindus had to escape Kashmir over the years to save their lives.

And what was the fault of tourists who were killed by terrorists including a man on his honeymoon right in front of his wife? She is traumatised for life. Have some empathy. Looks like you never lived in a country unnecessarily provoked like this. Indians did.

What choice India has? Accept it?

India was generous at the time of partition to allow a division demanded by the Muslim League party. India let Muslims have the freedom to live in India when Pakistan wannted a separate country for Myslims and was not ok with Hindus living there. But like they say no good deeds go unpunished.

Why? Because my default position is to support whichever country is the greater ally of the West. Because I believe in Western principles, and believe Islamic theocracy is a huge danger to our freedoms and everything I believe in. If the ally was behaving in a way that was extreme then no I wouldn’t support them, but that doesn’t apply here.

Pakistan, like Gaza, hides behind the fact its atrocities are carried out by splinter or terrorist groups, so they can deny knowledge and pretend to be a small and picked on victim. Because India is following the rule book and confirming the response as an official operation with government authorisation, of course everyone will say they’re a big bully and that ‘Pakistan denies this, Pakistan denies that, why are they attacking them’.

Before you call me selfish for ‘blindly following whichever side is closest to the UK’ let me point out that is literally what every other country in the world does without accusations of selfishness, and predominantly the Islamic ones - when have you ever seen an Islamic country take the side of the non-Islamic party, or bother themselves with supporting a non-Islamic country at all? Any protests, any marches against Russian aggression? Nope.

Modi had indians executed so he could make a fuss after the elections 🤔

The lengths people go to absolve Pakistani funded terrorist groups of anything.

Yes, because they’re likely supporters of theocratic Islam which is an absolutist belief - hence anything is justified or explained away. I wish the lefty brainless types would wake up to the fact they’re useful idiots, I really do.

*and I want to clarify I myself am probably slightly to the left of centre, I’m not referring to left wing people per se, just the ones who blindly support gender identity and the furthering of radical Islam ‘because oppression’

most definitely not a drama for me, a lot of innocent lives were lost, but do these governments care? as long as it serves their purpose? human lives don't mean anything to them. we have enough war and killing in this world to know that most of these governments don't care. sad reality.

I've got a neighbour exactly the same.

He shipped off his sons to Pakistan a few years ago, do they could get a "become Islamic scholars". I imagine he'll bring those radicalised kids back here now.

He also moved with them, leaving his wife and daughter here, but was listed as living here on Companies house.

He makes everyone's life hell, by being the only with a drive, but parking his untaxed, un MOT,'d taxis on the few parking spaces for everyone else.

We have a lot of Muslim neighbours who are diamonds, even they've had run ins with him, but he refuses to even look at us women who've challenged him, he literally refuses to speak to us.

Well un insured and un-MOTed taxis parked on public highways should be easy enough to deal with, surely?

I have said exactly what i think. I believe ALL human life is precious. I would NEVER want or wish the death of anyone. You have to be a very special kind of sick to want to wipe out an entire population.

Agree, and with your previous comment re people not actually being safe with those they support - made me think of the 'Queers for Palestine' banners i've seen a few of on protest marches over the past few months.
Anyone 'queer' wouldn't last 5 minutes in a culture that doesn't just consider being LGBT unacceptable, but punishable by death. I don't know whether to laugh or cry when i see banners like that, people truly don't understand what they are supporting.
I'm old enough to have seen many wars, and am heart sick of it. It so often comes down to men intent on destruction for their 'cause', and - without discounting the number of male lives lost - it's women & children who pay the highest price in terms of injury, death and displacement.
There has got to be a better way to solve disputes - unfortunately those in power are still hellishly trigger happy, and forget about the poor sods who will pay a horrible price for their aggression.

Or a sick country to execute tourists. Wonder why those words haven’t found their way into one of your posts?
