How many eggs does your DH or older ds eat as a portion?

daisydalrymple · 05/05/2025 11:54

DH has just had 5 scrambled eggs for breakfast.
DH and DS18 never have less than 4 eggs as a portion. So I buy a dozen on a shop on a Monday. By weds they’re gone.
we got through 42 eggs last week, me, dd and ds2 had 6 between us.
I think it’s excessive, but wondering if this is now the norm in this high protein era.

My sister has two teenage boys, and a teenage girl and a husband and she buys thirty six eggs a day.

littlemenmum · 05/05/2025 23:29

2 each here, that does sound a lot, I bet he’s bunged up afterwards

ChompinCrocodiles · 05/05/2025 23:34

If scrambled then:
Dh and ds1 (17) would have 4.
Me and ds2 (15) would have 3.
Ds3 (7) would have two.

That's over 7 eggs each every day which is just mental.

Icanttakethisanymore · 05/05/2025 23:50

3 for scrambled, 2 for poached or boiled.

Tryingmum456 · 05/05/2025 23:52

4 generally. Could easily eat 6.

Theyreeatingthedogs · 06/05/2025 00:00

It's simple. Your DH is greedy.

mondaytosunday · 06/05/2025 00:34

Two or three and sometimes added egg whites (from a carton) but he’s really into his macros and eats a lot of protein. Five seems excessive unless seriously training.

I was on a cruise recently and the bloke on the table at breakfast next to us had 3 boiled eggs, toast, then a bagel with 3 poached eggs and scrambled eggs on the side. That would constipate me!

Crushed23 · 06/05/2025 00:52

I often have 4 boiled eggs for breakfast, and I’m a petite female.

Love eggs, great source of protein.

Shatandfattered · 06/05/2025 00:56

He has 7 boiled and mashed

Scrambling is a silly thing to do with eggs because they seem to shrink and the volume you get from 2 scrambled eggs is tiny compared to 2 poached or 2 fried. I'd have 3 if I was scrambling for me and do 7 if DH wanted some, but I normally just poach 2.

Seven?!

You're scrambling your eggs wrong if they’re shrinking.

Ilovemyshed · 06/05/2025 07:32

3 for an omelette, 2 for scramble, boiled, 1 for poached usually. We have an egg farm nearby where they are £3 per dozen and £6 for a tray of 30!

RareGoalsVerge · 06/05/2025 08:26

@threenaancurrywhore sorry I mean 7 if both me and DH will have some. Not 7 just for DH.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 06/05/2025 08:35

His argument that he needs twice as much food as DS is barmy.

I remember that when I was a not particularly active 13yo girl, I was eating more for my evening meal than my Dad, who's a builder and was working on sites laying blocks from 8-6!

Because I was growing like mad, as your DS will be.

There's a useful table here.

I think so too but I haven’t got any teenage boys.

My ds (24) could easily eat 6. My dp 3 at a push
