Firstly, sorry if this thread's too wholesome for some of you! I didn't realise discussing perfectly normal weekend plans might offend anyone 🤷‍♀️

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. I've been snoozing since the cats started climbing about in my bedroom at 6:30...no way was I getting up then!

The washer's on, pots are washed and I've tidied round a bit. Probably won't do much else today in the vein of housework.

Dd1 needs to be up shortly to get ready for work, especially if she wants to walk from town like she said last night. Dd2 planned to get all of her homework out of the way last night and today, and do her weekly room tidy today, so she has a full 2 days to chill and do as she pleases.

I'm off for a wander to Lidl shortly-ish for a bottle of something to take to my friends house to drink. The three of us are meeting there for a catch up & try to plan an overnight somewhere over the upcoming half term. Although, thinking about it, we could always jump on a train on a Friday once we all finish work!

I also need to book trains and hotel for myself and the girls for an overnight stay in Manchester for another Inhaler gig at the beginning of half term 🎶.

Dd2 and their dad will probably have takeaway for tea, dd1 will have something at work - usually something from the Owners menu 😋, and I'm not sure what we're eating. My friend will probably cook something as she's not terribly adventurous with her food choices, so we'll all contribute to that.

I'll be home for a cuppa and bed by 10:30 at the latest <rock'n'roll> 🤣.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning all

Been up since 7ish to get our crew and an additional teen out of the house to chase a ball around!

Just making a second pot of coffee, some calm revision, then later an additional teen or two, seems like the average number of teens (males) in our house this week is 4! They eat whatever you put in front of them, they just keep going.

Will tramp the around the pretty bluebells, then making Greek falafel, chicken, salad, halloumi, tahini pittas.

frozendaisy · 03/05/2025 09:32

(Teen males are, whatever the opposite of wholesome is, for balance balance)

WhatIsAScottishEgg · 03/05/2025 09:33

Morning! And what a beautiful day. We're going to a wedding today so I'm very excited. Just having toast and tea to line my stomach. Then it'll be a shower, curling my hair and hoping it doesn't look shit on the side where I'm cack handed, full face of makeup and off we go. Got the in-laws staying to look after DS. I already want to kill my FIL.

Natsku · 03/05/2025 09:39

Grin at too wholesome!

I'm still recovering from tonsillitis so not really feeling up to much at all today as I thought I was better yesterday but had to leave work after just 5 hours. Just drinking some tea now and catching up on mumsnet, then might watch some telly - started binging The Clearing while ill and want to finish it this weekend before I stop having time for my own programmes again. Definitely no energy for unwholesome activities this weekend, I didn't even have a drink on May Day which is unheard of for me!

DD is sleeping over at her aunty/best friend's house but will be coming home soon.

My brother decided to take DS to the skatepark, so I'm wondering how long it'll be before someone gets injured.

Before DS left we went outside to put his May Day pinwheel somewhere outside where the wind will spin in, eventually decided to stick it in a plant pot then I put the plant put on top of the dead tree stump which is just outside the window that I'm sitting by so I can see it spin in the gusts of wind. Its lovely.

Oh I can see DD getting back just now.

Cyclingandrunning · 03/05/2025 09:39

I love, love these threads.

I had a lie in until 8am, had a quick tidy up and pottered around the garden with a cuppa checking my plants.

I'm just having yogurt, fruit and oats for breakfast then I have some beautiful fabric that came yesterday to start making my daughters prom dress that she designed

I will inbetween be dropping various teenagers (I have 4) around the city for their various social lives.

For dinner, I'm going to make a home cooked veggie curry with biryani rice.

FayKnights · 03/05/2025 09:40

Morning @lucysmam

Who has been moaning?! I have been on MN for years and this is now one of the only threads I bother with! Love hearing everyone’s gentle and real life plans 🥰

Just about to hop into the shower and get ready for a quick coffee with my pal, and then we are heading to Hastings with dogs to visit some friends who are already down there in their camper.
We keep talking about getting our own RV, so no doubt the topic will be thoroughly discussed on our way home later.

Have a gorgeous day xx

Sonolanona · 03/05/2025 09:40

Morning :)
I've just got in from walking the dog, breakfast for us both now.
Then I'm popping to my allotment to open the cloches and stare hopefully at the bed where I've planted asparagus crowns. I'll probably do a couple of hours work up there.

Playing squash at 4pm; I joined a club a few weeks ago and am loving it! I'll pop round my daughter's to cuddle the grandkids afterwards.

DH is out kayaking with his club and he'll walk the dog later.
I'll put on and hang out a wash, and maybe hoover.. that's about it for housework today.. other stuff can wait til it's not sunny!
This evening I'll probably practise music for an hour (I'm learning bass guitar) and then veg on the sofa, moaning that I ache after squash cos I'm getting older Grin

OchreSwan · 03/05/2025 09:40

Good morning everyone! I’ve been up for a couple of hours just lazing in bed with my book and a coffee. Just had my shower and waiting for DP to have his, and then we’ll go and do our Saturday tradition of eggs for breakfast (plus another coffee).

We’re trying to make the most of the bank holiday so are heading off to visit friends about three hours away today. I imagine DP will do most of the drive so I’ll be able to knit in the car. Then I imagine the rest of the evening will be spent at the brewery near their house, enjoying some local ales and (hopefully) the last of the sun!

Hope you all have lovely days whatever you’re doing.

MassiveOvaryaction · 03/05/2025 09:41

Trying to work out how to exact my revenge on the bloody collared dove that's been sat just above my open bedroom window shouting "Pick me! Pick meeee!" to the lady doves since 3:57am 😴

Chelsea26 · 03/05/2025 09:42

Good morning all! And what a lovely day!

I’ve had a great morning, woke up early, had a little romantic interlude with DP (best way to start the weekend!) and then got up and stripped the bed. Sheets are in the wash, kitchen is tidied and the robot hoover is, for once, not being a beepy twat and just tootling around the kitchen like she supposed to do.

I’m sitting in the garden with my second coffee deciding what to have for breakfast. DSD is also in the garden starting her revision for the day. DP has taken DSS to his Thai boxing training. DS1 is watching you tube in the snug, DS2 is still asleep and the Aussie lodger is at the gym.

I need to go and put a colour on my hair and then get my nails done as we have my mum and dad’s 50th wedding anniversary party later- will be so lovely to
see the whole family and all their old friends and the fossils do throw an excellent party!

lucysmam · 03/05/2025 09:44

@MassiveOvaryaction 🤣 aw, maybe he thought his luck would be in if he was the first up!

ReacherOMGyes · 03/05/2025 09:50

Morning all!

I'm having my last breakfast on my holiday, flying back home tonight😪

Had a lovely relaxing time away on my first solo trip abroad, managed to switch off from work, which has been quite stressful lately.

Working out what to do with my few hours left, more relaxing needed I think. Oh and packing 🙄

Thislittlekitten · 03/05/2025 09:51

Good Morning all.

@lucysmam you have no idea how much this thread means to me and others. I genuinely look forward to it every weekend. I feel we are part of a wee nice community and love hearing about everyone’s lives and family’s. It’s like an anchor. I hope I’m expressing myself correctly. Never stop!!

Today I’m going out with girls from work. This is a fairly new job and I worked with mostly men before so never really had a girls day out. I’m so excited. They are all lovely. I’m dressed up. Hair and make up been passed by my teen so ready to go.

Kids are doing various things with DH today. Im hoping they remember to water the new garden plants. DDog is going for a sleepover at granny’s just because 😂. She does like the company on her walks. And we are all busy today so he will be a happy pup too.

it sure when I’ll be back tonight!

MeinKraft · 03/05/2025 09:52

I don’t post much anymore but I’ve always enjoyed these threads. There’s only so many threads about horrible husbands and evil mothers in law that you can read.

Im not doing much today, i’ve got the dishwasher loaded, the suns shining and the winds blowing so i’m getting my washing done and drinking tea. The kids have asked for a day at home as it’s been a busy week.

Judgejudysno1fan · 03/05/2025 09:54

My little one, who's just 2, is really unwell with a tight wheezy chest and so waiting on a 111 call back to see whether to take him to out of hours GP or hospital. He was in A&E March with the same thing but low oxygen levels, heart palpitations and tonsillitis which was awful.

DilemmaDelilah · 03/05/2025 10:04

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone! I didn't get to sleep until around 3am so I'm a little groggy this morning and haven't managed my self-imposed (since retirement) up and dressed my 9am this morning. Mr Dilemma is in the shower and I will be going in after him.

For some mad reason, I decided to try and make some cheese scones yesterday evening. I've never been able to make scones, and I'm a lousy pastry maker which I put down to having hot hands. Anyway... I tried the simplest recipe I could find, basically didn't do any kneading at all, and they were very nice! I'm going to try a recipe with a bit more cheese in next time as they weren't ultra-cheesy. All that preamble is to say I had very well-buttered cheese scones (scone as in gone, not scone as in bone) for breakfast this morning.

Plans for this morning are to go through 'the stationery cupboard'. The reasoning behind that is that:
It needs doing!
We are trying to get rid of things we don't need
I want to clear out a shelf to store the printer, now we don't have an office any more.

Mr Dilemma has made an excellent job of pulling up the laminate floor and dismantling the desk. I have sold the two drawer pedestals, we have found a purpose for the desk top shelf unit - we just need to get rid of the chair and the actual desk top. I hope somebody will want the desk chair, but the desk top will be going to the top with the laminate from the floor. We have carpet fitters coming in just over a week, then we can do something about creating a bed over the bit that boxes in the head of the stairs.

I had to go to the dentist earlier this week, ostensibly to repair a cracked tooth. Turns out it was a really deep area of decay, necessitating drilling very close to the nerve. I have had toothache ever since. My dentist tells me if it doesn't settle down in a week I will need a root canal filling, and then a crown. So - I'm hoping it settles down!

No idea what we're eating tonight. Probably some ready cooked pork belly out of the freezer that doesn't need defrosting before it goes in the oven. With veg also out of the freezer - I froze some roasted potatoes and parsnips when the veg was cheap just before Easter, so maybe those with some broccoli I want to eat before it goes off. I'm keeping it with the stem in water in the fridge and it is still deducted and crunchy at the moment.

Icantremembermyusername · 03/05/2025 10:04

Morning All! Like many others, I suspect, I love these threads. In a world where so much can be chaotic and unreasonable, it is great to have a small corner of the internet where calm and “normal” exists.
Dry weekend predicted here so I’m off to run some errands and aim to spend my time and energy getting the garden summer ready.
Hope everyone gets the Saturday they would like x

dontforgetme · 03/05/2025 10:10

Good morning @lucysmamand all!

Have I missed something, did somebody complain about these threads?! Total madness, they are my favourite threads on mn.

We are having our usual lazy Saturday morning, am going to get moving soon and jump in the shower as I have an hours work at 11.30. Will finish just in time to watch the footy then we are meeting family in a pub garden. Indian takeaway tonight which I’m very much looking forward too!

Dd has requested the live action Little Mermaid for tonight’s family movie night and I’m also very much looking forward to that! Prince Eric is gorgeous 😁

The weather is a good few degrees cooler today where I am but still going to be a beautiful day.

Have lovely Saturdays all!

Taytocrisps · 03/05/2025 10:13

Mornin' @lucysmam. How can something so inoffensive bother other people? <shrugs> Feck the begrudgers!

Anyway, it's the start of a long weekend here. I don't know if Monday is a Public Holiday in the UK? I'm blissfully happy at the prospect of three days of freedom from work. And the sun is shining which makes it even better.

DD has made off with my car, so I'm trying to figure out what to do with myself. I've no food, so I need to stock up on something for breakfast and lunch. Maybe I'll just go for a cuppa and have breakfast somewhere locally. And bring stuff home for lunch.

I need to mow the lawn (out front) and strim the jungle (out the back). And maybe rescue one or two of my planters which are getting choked with weeds. It'll probably be too hot to work out there by the time I get home after a late breakfast, so I'll get stuff done indoors until the sun loses its intensity. I want to clear out some drawers which have gradually filled with junk and decide what I want to keep in them.

Should probably do some laundry too.

I'll curl up with a movie and a glass of wine later.

Anyway, breakfast........

BitOutOfPractice · 03/05/2025 10:14

Good morning you wholesome lot! FWIW @lucysmam I referenced my love of this thread on the wholesome post. I particularly love its understated tone, no performative wholesomeness here. Just real life in all of its familiar, comforting glory!

we’ve come away to the seaside for a few days. Going on a long walk in a bit (with pub stops!) and an early dinner booked at a naice restaurant. Really looking forward to my day.

have a lovely day everyone.

bigknitblanket · 03/05/2025 10:15

Had a short walk down to the river with the dog. Done some housework, going to have lunch at home then walk into town for a few beer garden drinks with the dog (we are on the coast and forecast is 19 degrees so it’s not too hot before the dog police come out)
