Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?

Firstly, sorry if this thread's too wholesome for some of you! I didn't realise discussing perfectly normal weekend plans might offend anyone 🤷‍♀️

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. I've been snoozing since the cats started climbing about in my bedroom at 6:30...no way was I getting up then!

The washer's on, pots are washed and I've tidied round a bit. Probably won't do much else today in the vein of housework.

Dd1 needs to be up shortly to get ready for work, especially if she wants to walk from town like she said last night. Dd2 planned to get all of her homework out of the way last night and today, and do her weekly room tidy today, so she has a full 2 days to chill and do as she pleases.

I'm off for a wander to Lidl shortly-ish for a bottle of something to take to my friends house to drink. The three of us are meeting there for a catch up & try to plan an overnight somewhere over the upcoming half term. Although, thinking about it, we could always jump on a train on a Friday once we all finish work!

I also need to book trains and hotel for myself and the girls for an overnight stay in Manchester for another Inhaler gig at the beginning of half term 🎶.

Dd2 and their dad will probably have takeaway for tea, dd1 will have something at work - usually something from the Owners menu 😋, and I'm not sure what we're eating. My friend will probably cook something as she's not terribly adventurous with her food choices, so we'll all contribute to that.

I'll be home for a cuppa and bed by 10:30 at the latest <rock'n'roll> 🤣.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning you lot!
got up for a swim this morning, home and showered and warm and dh suggested going out for breakfast. Ds is just getting showered and dh is bumbling about somewhere. It’ll be more of a brunch which suits me.
Then we have garden plans for the rest of the day as it’s surprisingly nice and the rest of the weekend doesn’t look as good.

gingercat02 · 03/05/2025 10:16

Oh have you been dissed for being too normal @lucysmam🥰
That's what we all love about your threads.
Been AWOL for a couple of weeks as we have been doing a garden project but back today.
Sadly my uncle died last night, he had been ill for a long time and he was 85, so sad but expected.
We are off to look at hedging and a garden arch type thing to finish off the hard landscaping we have done over the last few weeks.
No plans for this evening as yet, but likely to involve wine and F1.

TheFairyCaravan · 03/05/2025 10:26

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

It’s the first Saturday of the month so it’s my craft group this morning. There’s only about 12 of us, but we have such a laugh and not a huge amount of crafting gets done. DH is in the garden. We live in a newish build, so our garden was mostly all lawn, but we want some borders, so he’s taking some grass up.

DGS (16mths) will FaceTime later to tell us about his day and ask me to sing him Baa Baa Black Sheep. We’re having prawn Thai green curry for tea.

BitOutOfPractice · 03/05/2025 10:27

This thread wasn’t dissed at all. There was a thread about performative wholesomeness on social media where people are describing perfectly normal activities like dog walking or knitting as “wholesome” which is pretty annoying. It’s a new instagram trend apparently.

Several people referenced their love for this thread every week and said That this really is wholesome but without the annoying performance bit. All positive love!

Zippedydodah · 03/05/2025 10:29

Golly, too wholesome? Bring it on……!
Good morning @lucysmam & Co, it’s a beautiful sunny morning here, we’re back from a hour’s dog walking across fields full of skylarks singing and back through the woods where the bluebells are starting to go over. It was really warm in the sun but a lovely breeze for most of the way.
I’ve made myself a bacon and egg buttie plus a coffee then I will tackle the weedy flower planters on the patio. Luckily it’s in the shade so I won’t bake!
Both dogs are fast asleep, very peaceful here…..

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 03/05/2025 10:31

Morning all - been to my hit class this morning and taken the dog for a walk around the fields, it's quite blustery and cloudy here though still some nice spots of sunshine. We are heading for a picnic, play and swim at a lovely little spot by the river today with some friends - I bought delicious food from our local falafel shop for picnic lunch! There's a nice pub near there so we will probably pop for a pint on the way home (though NA for me as I'm doing sober spring).
Haven't got a clue what dinner tonight will be, will have to read this thread for inspo. Probably a film tonight - maybe Mickey 17 if it's come down in price to rent on Prime.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 03/05/2025 10:31

Good morning Lucysmam and others who are being very wholesome. 😂 I have been up for ages but had a decent sleep (for me). I've had two coffees and a slice of toast. Then stripped the bed, put the whites in the machine and toddled off to Aldi. Once stocked up, I hung out said whites and stuck the duvet cover in the machine. It's bumbling away while I had second breakfast of a croissant with jam and a cuppa. Shortly I'll clean the bathroom. I've already washed down the front door. It was used for target practice by an incontinent bird. Then polishing and hoovering.
Tonight I'm watching dgss for a couple of hours. In between I'll do the ironing. Domestic goddess am I 😂

Judgejudysno1fan · 03/05/2025 09:54

My little one, who's just 2, is really unwell with a tight wheezy chest and so waiting on a 111 call back to see whether to take him to out of hours GP or hospital. He was in A&E March with the same thing but low oxygen levels, heart palpitations and tonsillitis which was awful.

I hope they are ok and you are seen quickly. Sounds very scary x

DinoLil · 03/05/2025 10:42

Morning all!

Unusually for me, I've already taken the dog out on a walk, done a load of washing and some gardening. I've had a long natter with my neighbour and am about to make some blueberry muffins because she happened to say she liked them.

Normally, I'm not long out of bed at this time (thanks, medication!).

I'm going to do some crafting later as part of my volunteering for a local charity whilst binge watching The Four Seasons as its supposed to be good.

Happy Bank Holiday Saturday everyone!

daffodilandtulip · 03/05/2025 10:45

This thread is my favourite part of Saturdays, even if I think my weekends are too boring to post some weekends 🤣

I've walked the dog and had a macaroon latte when I got back. Bathroom is finally in progress these next few weeks and the slip is coming Monday, so trying to decide whether to start sorting today or whether it'll be easier to wait until the skip is here. I'm beyond excited about finally having a nice bathroom. It's only ten years old but it's been plagued with disaster since day one and cost me a fortune, so the builders are stripping it all back and making sure everything is new and leak proof!

Daughter is back at uni and she was super intense when she was home, and next weekend I'm on a course, so I'm just enjoying the sit down in silence tbh. Enjoying a Gillian McAllister book at the moment so will settle down with that when I've done internet catch ups.

Doing a little potato, chorizo and veg tray bake for tea. Saturday night tv is a bit crap atm but I've got a list of dramas to catch up on from when daughter was here so will pick one to binge.

Enjoy your "too" wholesome weekends ladies!

InglouriousBasterd · 03/05/2025 10:46

Also love these threads!

Still nursing a coffee in bed but I’ve been awake for ages as DD came home from a sleepover around 8. Will get moving shortly and strip the beds, get some cleaning done and head to the gym. Then off to a cafe with my book for an hour!

Lazy pasta of some description for dinner, probably a film with it.

Happy Saturday all!

MadamePeriwinkle · 03/05/2025 10:47

I was up at 5am and have not long arrived in Paris for a two day solo mini break 😁.

Titasaducksarse · 03/05/2025 10:51

I'm dogsitting and they were up at 6am so an early start to the day. Walked them and had croissant and nice coffee for breakfast.

Partner has gone off with his mates trying not to break something aka biking.

I've not a huge amount planned. We were both off yesterday so all chores done then Determined to get some things on vinted though.

Need to pick up a new chair we've bought at some point and I've a new book to get stuck into.

Bbq for dinner tonight.

Tillow4ever · 03/05/2025 10:57

Good morning all! I haven’t seen these threads before. But the comments suggest it’s a regular one. What a lovely idea.

I’m lazily still lying in bed. Scrolling through Mumsnet, reading the news, etc. My cat and DS3 who’s 13 is lying down with me watching You Tube - he’s a real mummy’s boy and does like a cuddle in the morning! Just discussing getting up properly though. We (DS3) and I are off into town this afternoon to meet the local Pokemon Go group for a “raid day”. We will probably go out earlier though and meet one of the ladies just to have a wander around catching pokemon. Good way to get the steps in!

I realised this morning I fell asleep mid booking a Tesco slot last night (wasn’t even late which is so embarrassing) which means I can’t get earlier than 4pm delivery now. So I’m going to have to get whatever we need for dinner tomorrow later so I can at least get that on early enough!

Tomorrow DS3 and I will likely go for a wander catching Pokemon. He’ll likely persuade me to stop somewhere for him to have a spot of lunch or something. Either that or he’ll stay home playing Fortnite and I’ll go for a walk on my own.

DS1 is at uni and only went back last week so won’t be home for a while yet. DS2 is 17 but working full time (he’s due to start an apprenticeship with a local company in Sept but they offered him to start full time from Feb on a 12 week trial period first it’s meant he can start earning money which he will use on driving lessons when he can get to the top of a waiting list! His trial ends in a week or two so hopefully they will agree he’s passed it and he gets to stay on. He’s not had any negative feedback so far, and surely he’d have been given the chance to fix anything he was doing wrong at the time so it wasn’t sprung on him at the review, Also, a couple of weeks ago they told him they’ve looked at moving which college the apprenticeship is at because there was no direct public transport links to the one they usually used, and they’ve picked one he can get a train directly to instead (the other one was two trains and a bus journey (plus a short walk) taking just shy of 2 hours to travel around 20 miles, this one is a 25 min single train journey and then a short walk - surely they wouldn’t have done that if they weren’t happy with him?). sorry, got side tracked there! So he will basically spend the weekend gaming catching up with his friends. He’s working on Monday. I might be able to persuade him to come for a walk - but only if his little brother isn’t coming 😂

At some point the youngest and I need to go and practice putting tents up as the two of us are going camping in half term. My husband is the one who usually puts tents etc up, DS2 is super good at it too - so I’ve said we need to be sure we know we can do it just the two of us without either of them being there to tell us what to do along the way. My youngest wants us to take the big 8 man tent as you can stand up in it and it will give us lots of space - but it’s heavy and tough to put up so I’ve said only if we are confident that we can do it together.

I think I’m working on Monday as it will give me an extra days holiday to take elsewhere. From what I have booked, I have 4 days left - so the extra day gives me a full week to use.

Sorry, I rambled there to say not doing a lot!

Stressybetty · 03/05/2025 11:11

We moved rental houses over the Easter weekend so have loads to do. Furniture to shift upstairs as we've moved to a townhouse, stuff still sat in the back garden to move inside once there's space for it. Washing on, had breakfast, dogs fed. Back working from office from Tuesday so also need to find some of my clothes and dye my grey bits! Both tired and have done my knee in 😔. Bottle prosecco chilling for tonight however and steak in fridge.

lucysmam · 03/05/2025 11:28

Well, I've booked the hotel & train to Manchester for half term. Washer's just finished its second load so I'll move and put that out in a mo. Then off to get dressed and mooch to Lidl.

Any recommendations for things to do/see in Manchester? We're not coming home until the 4pm ish train so all day to do something or explore.

Moier · 03/05/2025 11:37

Well very unexpected I've got my Grandson staying.. emergency last night.. daughter was taken to hospital..( many health conditions and a wheelchair user).
She's okay and getting sorted..
We are not doing much.. we all just got back from a break away on Thursday.
Depending how long daughter in hospital.. we might be going to visit her and take her a tub of feta salad.
Grandson on laptop.
I'm just catching up on telly and scrolling the net.
Have a fabulous weekend everyone.

RabbitsRock · 03/05/2025 11:50

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone - this thread & the Sunday one are my absolute favourites! Typing this with my left hand as I fell & broke my arm earlier in the week 😢 Painwise it’s better than when I first did it as I’ve had a shoulder brace fitted but my arm feels heavy & achey & I ended up in tears in the early hours because of the terrible itching.I’m extremely swollen & bruised but hopefully that will start to go down. Trying to stay positive as it could have been a lot worse. Actually quite proud of how I’m adapting to use my left hand. DD16 has been really sweet & caring & offering to cook etc which she never does usually. DH is always great in a crisis. He’s working today but only til lunchtime. Think he’s hoping to go for a bike ride. Lovely weather here again. I had planned fish & chips (from the freezer) with either peas or baked beans for tea as I would have been working but we had a chippy tea last night. I’ll probably have a ready meal that can be cooked from frozen & DH will do beans on toast. DD sorts herself out if she has anything at all. Just contemplating a 3rd cuppa. Had an Asda delivery last night & forget to order biscuits. Really fancy a chocolate Hobnob or 3 to dunk! Have a great Saturday everyone & get well wishes to those who are poorly 💐💐💐

declutteringmymind · 03/05/2025 11:52

Good morning! Been for a hike and sat down with a cup of tea, bacon in the oven cooking for butties. Teenager is revising, youngest is doing homework. Will do some washing and ironing , take teenager out for a run at some point then we are out for a meal with friends. Then home to watch F1 Sprint race.

OneLilacEagle · 03/05/2025 11:54

Good morning all! It's a lovely day here too so I'm sitting outside having a coffee. Not sure what we are doing today. We've got a very busy few weeks ahead so we should probably chill. Plus we've had a really horrible week, and I am feeling pretty down about it. It's not something I can do anything about either except ruminate and worry about the future implications, which might be major and miserable. Need to distract myself basically but really struggling to find any motivation.

DS has just appeared and wants to build a raised bed to plant some veg so that might be my weekend distraction sorted. Children aren't very accepting of wallowing!

Calypsocuckoo · 03/05/2025 11:55

I love this thread, I find it very cosy and wholesome, it makes a change from the boasting and consumerism of other social media and the horrible and difficult lives and situations we see on mumsnet.
I am not doing anything today, and I haven’t done much all week, I am really poorly with a horribly illness that means I can’t drive, walk or do anything except potter round the house feeling sick and sorry for myself. My lovely DH has been looking after me and I am so grateful for him this week but he needs a break so I am going to fend for myself and try not to ask him for help so much today. At the moment he is washing the cars after next doors building work all week has covered them in dust. I am scrolling and drinking tea on the kitchen sofa and will stay here all day with my kindle and a sick bowl 🫣
