I eat dairy, but I really like the alpro coconut barista and I often use that in place of cow’s milk because it’s nicer.

KnickerlessParsons · 30/04/2025 17:21

Oat milk. No particular brand. I quite like it. I’m currently trying that barista version as the standard milk tends to separate in tea and coffee.

gladwhiskers · 30/04/2025 17:26

I have soya as it has more protein than other plant milks. Exvept pea milk - which I haven't seen in the shops.

MiddleAgedDread · 30/04/2025 17:27

unsweetened almond milk (except for Lidl’s which is rank!)
I don’t mind oat or soya either

That sounds nice actually

I was looking for a decent unsweetened soy milk in Sainsbury's a couple of days ago, but couldn't find any that didn't have additives.

Do any additive-free soy milks even exist or are they all very UPF?

You can get pea milk in Waitrose, the long life section :)

My fave oatmilk is Oatly barista, but as a cheap alternative the Aldi own brand is very good. I stay away from Alpro oat, it's disgusting.

I eat dairy, I just prefer oat milk in tea/coffee.

ZZGirl · 30/04/2025 17:32

Oat. My preferred brands are Alpro or Jörd

ArtTheClownIsNotAMime · 30/04/2025 17:32

Oatly Barrista. Much nicer than cows' milk.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 30/04/2025 17:33

Soya milk. I find all the others I've tried too sweet. I hate sweet coffee and tea, and that's mostly what I use milk for.

Thanks. I'll be off to Waitrose then.

Oat milk from the milkman 😊

BeautifulFacesAndLoudEmptyPlaces · 30/04/2025 17:52

Mostly unsweetened soya milk. Sometimes I use oat milk and make my own when I can be bothered.

elrider · 30/04/2025 18:00

Oatly, but specifically the grey Barista version that's in the long life aisle (not the chilled one which tastes different, and definitely not the non-Barista)! The whole family (including those who otherwise consume dairy) also all use this now (not just in coffee, but also cereal, porridge, tea, baking, milkshakes, smoothies, cooking sauces, and straight for the kids before bed).

I have an Amazon subscription for it which is usually cheaper than shops, and also buy it in bulk when it's on offer in supermarkets. It's handy that it's long life as I can easily stockpile it! I have a small kitchen cupboard that's just for milk. 😆

Whu · 30/04/2025 18:01

Oat - I use plenish as it’a got no additives. But barista is nice for a treat.

CalicoPusscat · 30/04/2025 18:02

Unfortunately I can't have dairy for medical reasons!

Oatly barista for coffee, cereal, porridge etc. Dairy only in tea though - never found a good alternative

Same

Chungai · 30/04/2025 18:09

I like almond Plenish, it tastes really clean and doesn't have any shite in, but as a treat oatly barista in the occasional coffee. I don't like drinking a lot of it because of the added oils. In fact I went back to cows milk. We do also have soya milk for cereal as a family.

Diggetydawg · 30/04/2025 18:20

Unsweetened Soy for tea and Oat Barista for coffee because it's sweet and creamer.

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 30/04/2025 18:25

Tesco smartprice soya.

JadeSeahorse · 30/04/2025 18:29

I don't take milk in coffee and don't drink tea but I love Almond milk - definitely unsweetened though.

I have tried lots of different brands and Lidl is my favourite despite it being one of the cheapest. (I'm such a peasant 😂)

I daren't buy it too often though as I can't leave it alone.

Catsinaflat · 30/04/2025 18:50

Plenish almond - just three ingredients. If you check ingredients on some “milks” they have oil added - I avoid those.

MananaPenelope · 30/04/2025 20:46

@Nopayrise the moma barista is the only one I like in tea.
