I need to respond to this message asap. There is history and I'm finding it difficult not to be petty. This won't help me in the long run so, please help me respond, without knowing the back story.

I’m going to catch a train that arrives at [station] just after 9, so can meet [name] at the pick up/drop off point or wherever is easiest.

@DontStealMySunshine

if you agree with the message then ‘ok, noted’ is sufficient.

if not, just respond with ‘sorry, that doesn’t work for me. You’ll need to be at the Library at Xx time.’ Or similar.

Yes will drop (name) at drop off point

Or

Can it be outside Costa at the Station just after the train gets in? That would be great, thanx.

If it was me and I was begrudgingly doing it, and didn't have much truck with the person I was helping, then I'd probably phone them and just say - 'Sorry, I'm not able to meet him at x place now, I can meet him at Tesco, I'll be there in two minutes. How long will he be as I've got to go to xyz place shortly, so can't really wait'.

Basically just sound busy and that it can only work on your terms which are limited.

TreeDudette · 30/04/2025 13:49

Ok, I'll have X to the station for 9.

Or

That doesn't work for me, I can have X to the station (or alternative) for 8pm but no later. Can you make that work on your end?

Assuming it’s your child and he’s the father, maybe switch to a parenting app like OurFamilyWizard. His message seems innocuous but clearly has a huge back story. Use an app so it’s all filtered and you can stop the direct messages and your dread of opening them.
