Anyone worked for someone famous?

I’m working in a company for an influencer/z list celeb. She’s well known in a certain group of people and hangs around with some pretty famous faces. She has her own fashion company.

I don’t report into her, but work closely with her and she is an utter bitch. The way she comes across on social media is so…different. Her intern films her for content daily and she puts on such a smiley show. When the camera is off, she’s rude, demanding, bitches about everyone in the team, including members of the team that go above and beyond to make her business a success and make her happy…I could go on.

she contradicts herself constantly, making me feel like I’m going mad. I know if I died tmrw she wouldn’t care. She cares only about herself and her success. She’s not even nice about her husband, who is such a lovely guy.

I want to get out this company asap. It’s just difficult to know where to go and what to do next so in the meantime…has anyone else experienced similar?

I have lost all respect for this woman. She is awful and everyone that works for her knows it.

These people are likely only known by the Australians here but anyway:
Bert Newton- lovely man, really chatty & personable, would remember little details about people
Craig McLaughlin- overly friendly & touchy feely. Wasn't surprised when all the allegations came out
John Farnham- only met him once but so nice, life of the party type of guy

Guy Pearce once opened a door for me and gave me a blinding smile. Had never thought one way or another of him but wow he was stunningly handsome in real life😍

Flowerpower70 · 27/04/2025 03:40

I know a guy who did some security work for the 2012 Olympics and he met Annie Lennox. He said she's a lovely person. Very down to earth and lovely to talk to.

My sister in law worked with Trevor Eve. Total pervert and talked about weird fetishes. She was amazed he hasn’t been cancelled. I’m still gutted as I always fancied him in Waking the Dead.

Yes I’ve heard the same about him - i remember someone telling me some really disgusting fetish of his.

I must go and find the forum with airline cabin crew posting anonymously about the various celebs, who is up their arse, who is nice etc.
I used to read it, but haven't for a while

OH do that one was illuminating.

justasking111 · 27/04/2025 07:35

Top Gear trio were all a delight to work with.

Sean Connery, could be grumpy but was a fair age then and working in awful weather in bloody awful heavy costumes.

beguilingeyes · 27/04/2025 08:05

Paul McCartney has always suffered, reputation wise, from being still alive. He was the dull one, and Lennon was the genius. I think this is shifting a bit now.. especially since Get Back came out...which I urge you to watch if you haven't.
It's not even that Lennon died young, although 40 seemed ancient at the time (I was 17 in 1980) so much as the manner of his death.
Shot outside his home in front of his wife by that bastard Mark Chapman who just wanted to be famous. Apparently he regrets it now. I hope they never let him out.

I've heard this about some celebrities, that they come across lovely on social media but awful to their staff. That's why I don't believe everything I see on social media.

My former co-worker left her job to work in administration of Sarah Ferguson-The Duchess of York. Apparently she is very very high maintenance, demanding, shouting on her staff and so.

MrsMitford3 · 27/04/2025 08:43

Re Sarah Ferguson.
I was in Harrods at the till in the children's book department.
It must have been 20+ years ago-the toe sucking scandal had happened but not sure exactly what year.
Anyway we had queued for a while and just as we were about to be served there was a commotion and Fergie came marching through with about 5 members of staff in her wake carrying things and fetching things. She literally put her arm straight up in the air and snapped her fingers at the girl who was waiting on us and shouted for her to come immediately.
I assume this was not her first time doing this because the girl gave us an apologetic look and raced over to her.
She had everyone in a fluster barking orders and demanding things.
Shockingly rude.

I love these threads and find them really interesting BUT (as with the Status Quo example above!) I don't think working with or dealing with someone as a one off can give you a very good picture of what they're like as everyone has good and bad days.

The ones where they have been a live-in nanny / cook / PA etc obviously get a much better picture!

We've been watching the Joe and Stacey documentary (I know, I know!) and were saying the other night that I wonder what they are like to work for / with and whether they're as happy and bubbly as they come across!

I used to work at the BBC and saw lots of famous people drop in and out- some could be a bit difficult on occasions (can't we all?) but everyone knew the really horrible ones. Junior staff were warned about Saville. The people who had the most insight were people like the make up artists, chauffeurs and door people but nannies and live in staff would certainly know them best. Two of the senior royal females at the time were known to be nice, one awful!
I met a few who stood out as really lovely- Vanessa Feltz and Mohamed Ali spring to mind and I have heard from everyone who met him that Ed Sheeran is nice

IjustbelieveinMe · 27/04/2025 00:14

Wasn’t that the Brit awards?

Yes, apologies, you're right - I was mixing up the two performances!

Even so, that means it was twice that an international megastar gave a performance that you, erm, probably wouldn't expect of an international megastar!

Cherryicecreamx · 27/04/2025 09:30

BunnyLake · 24/04/2025 12:09

That has been my unfortunate experience of female managers. Call me sexist but 9 times out of 10 I’d take the male manager.

I second this.

Not famous but the daughter of one if the richest men in a middle eastern country, but living in London, she was vile. Spoke to me like I was an idiot and really took me a long time to get over the way she treated me.

I'm not that surprised at all. It's one thing to be very comfortably off; but with multi-billionaires, who see so many people in crushing poverty in the world and could make such a transformational difference to millions of lives - whilst still keeping far more money for themselves than they could ever possibly use - but don't... I can't begin to understand that mindset.

Being brought up in that kind of environment from a young age, it must be phenomenally difficult to ever adjust to being somebody who has any compassion for, and actually gives a stuff about, ordinary people - rather than just seeing their whole purpose as being there to facilitate your life.

Brit here, never been to Australia... haven't heard of Bert, but know the other three very well.

husbandcookingtonight · 27/04/2025 09:53

It's such a pity that these people seem to have so much power over other people...if you do leave OP then if you are brave enough tell her straight to her face what an awful person she is because everyone pussyfooting around her is helping to make her the way she is - a bully

rumplestiltskinaemond · 27/04/2025 09:57

who mentioned Steve Coogan? Do you have any more info on him? He is hot and is aging well too.

CameltoeParkerBowles · 27/04/2025 10:01

Leafy3 · 26/04/2025 08:10

@IridescentRainbow that's awful. I've never heard a good thing about John lennon

Me neither. A nasty piece of work, by many accounts.

JojoM1981 · 27/04/2025 10:04

Lazlothevampire · 26/04/2025 12:06

And why do people entertain it? Honest to god, how do you not laugh at request like that and tell them to go and fuck themselves? (I do understand if you were trying to keep a job, but my tolerance for bullshit is non existent, so I wouldn’t be able to stop myself).

I know!! I'd have to say "I don't know you think you are but you need to grow up now"!! I wouldn't last long 🙄😁

JojoM1981 · 27/04/2025 10:05

My dad's friend was a gardener for Cilla Black. Horrible and rude so I'm not surprised when others say the same...

AInightingale · 26/04/2025 09:12

That story is awful @IridescentRainbow and I've heard similar. John Lennon was by all accounts a nasty piece of work. He was very clever and witty, but he seemed to lack any sort of feeling. Not really surprised he gravitated towards every 'Cause' and 'Current Thing' going as a substitute for any real engagement with human beings! He actually sounds quite similar to many 'activists' today, the monstrous 'be kind' brigade.

I think you've hit the nail on the head, there.

Leafy3 · 27/04/2025 10:07

CameltoeParkerBowles · 26/04/2025 18:06

Exactly. He's virtually got 'arsehole' written across his forehead. Why would anyone think he was remotely decent?

I don't think Martin Sheen has spoken out about Gaimain either?

I'm inclined to assume they've both been forbidden from doing so by the execs of Good Omens...there was a later-than-expected and carefully worded statement released about the ongoing production which would seem to support this.

I know if a senior exec at my place of work made public headlines for such abhorrent behaviour we'd all be instructed not to say anything

AnneElliotsBestFriend · 27/04/2025 10:07

I taught Beth Mead. She was lovely. The boys wanted her to be stopped from playing football at break as she was too fast for them and kept getting the ball before they did.

Edited

I agree with watching Get Back. It really highlights that McCartney was the talent and the workhorse behind The Beatles, when John and the boys were busy dicking about, being late etc.

You can name the royals, none of them are going to sue you 😉

Guy Pearce is an underrated actor I think, although his profile would probably be higher if he didn't shun celebrity (not a criticism!)

Sean Connery was a wife beater

I still can't believe the bbc etc continue to give Tennant a platform after his terrible comments on tv about Kemi Badenoch (I'm no Tory, but publically trying to silence a woman and then say she shouldn't exist is such clear entitled misogyny that i find it so odd it's been ignored.

Not surprised he's been described by some on here in such a negative way.

That was incredibly nasty of him - I think anybody who still thought he was a nice guy would have finally seen his true colours then.

By all means go to town against somebody's politics, but an ad hominem attack - one where even you sense the need to clarify afterwards that you don't want to perpetrate violence on your political foe - is vile beyond words.
