Anyone worked for someone famous?

I’m working in a company for an influencer/z list celeb. She’s well known in a certain group of people and hangs around with some pretty famous faces. She has her own fashion company.

I don’t report into her, but work closely with her and she is an utter bitch. The way she comes across on social media is so…different. Her intern films her for content daily and she puts on such a smiley show. When the camera is off, she’s rude, demanding, bitches about everyone in the team, including members of the team that go above and beyond to make her business a success and make her happy…I could go on.

she contradicts herself constantly, making me feel like I’m going mad. I know if I died tmrw she wouldn’t care. She cares only about herself and her success. She’s not even nice about her husband, who is such a lovely guy.

I want to get out this company asap. It’s just difficult to know where to go and what to do next so in the meantime…has anyone else experienced similar?

I have lost all respect for this woman. She is awful and everyone that works for her knows it.

The naming the airport ‘John Lennon’ - agree. Always thought McCartney the more worthy recipient, but I like to think he declined; that he is humble in comparison to John. Prepared to be given a reality check 😉

I may be faced with flaming pitchforks for this opinion, but I think an awful lot of the adulation of John Lennon is because of the fact that he died very young in tragic circumstances.

Nobody is denying his great musical talent, but his reputation and veneration has gone way, way above that over the decades.

Of course, this also means that the name of the airport was already taken long before the other three left/will leave us! They don't tend to name airports after people who are still alive, unless they're royal or national leaders. I presume they would have preferred to forego that honour and live considerably longer than John, if anybody could have given them the theoretical option, mind.

Obviously, none of us can ever know for sure; but imho, if John had not been murdered and was still alive today in his 80s, I'm really not convinced that he would be considered quite the national treasure or saint that he is as it stands. For all we know, he could have been cancelled and a pariah. His views about, and treatment of, women (and other 'categories' of people who weren't like him) were utterly vile. I'm not even sure that Paul would get on with him that well if he were still with us now. Granted, he could have gone the opposite way - been deeply regretful and apologetic about how he had been when younger and done a 180 in his (hypothetical) later life; but nobody could ever know.

I agree, it's version of "die young, stay pretty" isn't it.

I can’t believe it about George Russell. He comes across as such a nerdy dullard with nothing about him. How can someone who grew up in King’s Lynn be so full of himself? Grin And what’s the story with his gf Carmen?! I need more, people.

George seems to have made a few enemies on the grid and comes across as quite snarky imo. Lol at the Kings Lynn comment!

I’m more disappointed at the Lando Norris comment. Met him briefly and he was lovely to my six year old. Imagine they’ve all had lots of PR training though.

Newbie125 · 26/04/2025 15:13

I had the opposite experience, working with her when she was older. She was demanding and unkind then turned on the charm as soon as the audience arrived.

And why do people entertain it? Honest to god, how do you not laugh at request like that and tell them to go and fuck themselves? (I do understand if you were trying to keep a job, but my tolerance for bullshit is non existent, so I wouldn’t be able to stop myself).

I agree.
How can they be allowed to behave in such a way.
Is it tolerated when they’re with their families ?
Aren’t their parents ashamed of how they brought their child up, with such nonsensical and bad behaviour towards their fellow humans.

Julian Lennon is on record as saying PM was more of a father figure to him than JL and I believe they may be still in touch. JL is lionised disproportionately to his talent precisely because he died young. I'm not saying he wasn't talented just that the Beatles were the sum of their parts plus an inventive producer so it's wrong to say any one of them was more talented because it's more complex.

I've never heard anyone say a bad word about PM as a person.

I was on a Trade Mission thing in Manchester with The Japanese Ambassador and Andy Burnham was there. He was making himself a cuppa and made me one too and we chatted for a bit. Lovely man and his eyelashes are indeed that fabulous

Do you mean the current Japanese Ambassador and social media phenomenon, Hiroshi Suzuki? (I'm assuming the bit about making you a cup of tea and having fabulous eyelashes was Andy Burnham and not the Ambassador!)

Very true. See also: Princess Diana.

Dh has done some work for the Beckhams. Apparently, Victoria is very uptight about what she eats, but didn’t really spend much time around her to say anything more than that. But David is absolutely lovely. He gets stuck in, helping unload and set up stuff, very regular guy and treats people around him really kindly. Not a bad word to say about him.

I also did some work with (not for) Alan Cumming and he is also as lovely and sweet as you would imagine.

Is this the OPs employer perchance?

Yes, it was Andy Burnham who made me a cuppa.
This was in 2021 and I am afraid I can't remember The Ambassadors name. I am sorry to say that I was so starstruck by Andy that nobody else really registered.

It wouldn't have been Hiroshi Suzuki then as he has been in the role last November(? I think) and he visited Manchester and met Andy Burnham earlier this month (hence me wondering if that was when you met Andy Burnham). If you had met him I was going to ask you about that! Well worth following the Ambassador's account on X though, for anyone still on there, as he has been cheering up a lot of people with his posts, including making an origami daffodil for St David's Day and taking Paddington Bear on a trip to Japan.

Lol what a diva!

"No one agrees with you". That's rubbish.

Many women on this thread have agreed with me.

Are you able to read? All of their posts are still there.

Edited

They're probably your sock accounts and you're possibly a cellar dwelling 4channer with all your misogynistic nonsense.

If you are a women, I'm not in the least bit surprised other women don't get on with you from the eay you judge and denigrate.

And I like many other women on here think you are trying to spoil the thread with your nasty anti woman sentiments.

I've spent my life working with mainly men and they can be bulling, emotionally manipulative, generally over emotional horrors.

Poor guy. He will never live this incident down. Seems very OK to me. Maybe he was in a filthy mood that day or tired and exhausted or feeling unwell. Shame to be judged on just one incident

I think you’ll find there’s more than one incident! There are whole threads filled with horrible encounters, from people who’ve worked with him professionally to hotel & restaurant staff and members of the public, and I’ve yet to see a single person step in and say, ‘actually, IME he’s a lovely guy with a heart of gold’ 😂

He comes across in every context as a spiteful, self-important bellend. Whilst it’s true to say everyone can have an off day, and people can blow tiny encounters with celebrities out of all proportion, it’s rare for the consensus to be so unanimous if it’s baseless.

In life shit tends to stick to arseholes, famous or not.

EnjoythemoneyJane · 26/04/2025 16:13

James Corden, btw, for anyone who’s not RTFT.

ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 26/04/2025 16:16

I was in the audience aged 18 of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire in 1999, when my godfather Peter Lee was on and won £500k. My dad and his friend were both the "phone a friend".

After my godfather had won, obviously we went to see him backstage and celebrate etc. Certainly it was a brilliant experience for a wet behind the ears teenager, and i loved all the glitz of the TV studio etc.

Chris Tarrant couldn't have been more of an arse though, when I asked him for an autograph. He literally gave me the brush-off and briefest of answers before I could even say anything 😞😳😐 Luckily my godfather asked him to send me a signed photo after, and bonus points were achieved by me when I was recognised by the person working in Barclays bank on campus back at my university, who asked if I'd been on tv at the weekend 🙃 😆😉

I really liked Linda and I thought they were a genuinely devoted couple and it was very sad when she died so young. They obviously cared a great deal for animals too.

HelloDaisy · 26/04/2025 16:50

One of my friends has worked with several famous people and she’s always said how lovely Paul and Linda McCartney were. Very down to earth and genuine.

Gotback · 26/04/2025 16:56

My sister met Paul McCartney twice, quite briefly through her work in the travel industry and many years apart. He remembered her name. Lovely man.

Although I agree somewhat, as evidence for the defense I'd like to submit the hits The Frog Chorus & Mull of Kintyre vs Imagine & Jealous Guy.
