Anyone worked for someone famous?

I’m working in a company for an influencer/z list celeb. She’s well known in a certain group of people and hangs around with some pretty famous faces. She has her own fashion company.

I don’t report into her, but work closely with her and she is an utter bitch. The way she comes across on social media is so…different. Her intern films her for content daily and she puts on such a smiley show. When the camera is off, she’s rude, demanding, bitches about everyone in the team, including members of the team that go above and beyond to make her business a success and make her happy…I could go on.

she contradicts herself constantly, making me feel like I’m going mad. I know if I died tmrw she wouldn’t care. She cares only about herself and her success. She’s not even nice about her husband, who is such a lovely guy.

I want to get out this company asap. It’s just difficult to know where to go and what to do next so in the meantime…has anyone else experienced similar?

I have lost all respect for this woman. She is awful and everyone that works for her knows it.

I've met Davina McCall through work and she was nice, and not shouty!

Also have regular dealings with one of the interviewers on The Apprentice, they come across as really nice, completely the opposite of their tv persona.

mondaytosunday · 24/04/2025 10:49

My cousin used to work in films in LA. Whoopi Goldberg was lovely and gave all the crew a gift. Ray Liotta not so pleasant. Director Bryan Singer was an utter jerk. Mel Gibson was nice enough.

Worked for a YouTuber. Utterly clueless egomaniacal cunt.

Three initials by any chance?

I used to work in a hotel in guest relations, so I often was allocated to assist any famous guests during their stay.
Shirley Bassey was amazing - warm, polite and funny. She sang to me in the lift, a moment I will never forget!
Status Quo - one was funny and charming the other was rude and arrogant.
The Human League - all friendly and down to earth.
Valentino Rossi - cheeky, really funny.
Wet Wet Wet - very down to earth apart from Marty Pello who refused to stay on the same floor as his band mates and made ridiculous demands night and day.
Mick Jagger - lovely man who wanted Welsh Rarebit making all the time.
Robson Green - very shy! Polite and friendly but didn't enjoy the attention at all. Very low maintenance.

It's so funny because I think Ed Sheeran's a twat when I see/hear him, but you always hear such good things about him and in fact DH has a friend who works with one of Ed's BFFs and who has also met him as a result and, of course, can't say enough lovely things about him in real life. Grin.

DH had a friend who worked with Pierce Brosnan on Mamma Mia and apparently he was lovely. He had all these pics of PB just hanging out with the team, having drinks etc. (I realised, typing this, that we didn't get feedback on any of the other stars. I wonder what that means!? Grin) And a colleague of mine met him once on a holiday and said the same. I remember him saying something like, "it took me a while to realise that the bloke I was fishing next to and having a beer with was Pierce Brosnan".

DS was beside himself with excitement recently when a famous footballer was having a casual coffee with the guy who cuts DS' hair. He lurked and got a pic with the guy who was, apaprently, really nice about it! Grin

I once met Harry Redknap, walking his dog. Very friendly, down to earth chap.

Haha I don’t know who that is either

Years ago I worked in PR in the arts and entertainment industry and met loads and loads of C-list celebs - TV actors and presenters etc. The worst people were usually jobbing actors who actually wanted to do theatre and film but had been cast in something like Peak Practice or Bad Girls for which they had to do PR interviews occasionally, and thought it was all greatly beneath them. Also major soap stars, the type who play iconic household name characters, often seemed to be utterly vile.

Hoppinggreen · 24/04/2025 11:19

I wouldn't say famous exactly but I am a Relocation Consultant and have worked with some high profile Sports people and Business people, one in particular has a pretty high profile in the media right now.
I don't give details of any of my clients anyway but I do have NDA's for a couple of my contracts as I have some information that The Press would certainly want to print
Without exception they are all lovely, it tends to be the people a bit lower down the chain and/or hangers on and PA's who can be a pian in the arse.

I used to do a lot of work for Ginger Gilmour, ex wife of Dave from Pink Floyd. Very demanding and much the perfectionist work wise but, personality wise, really warm and lovely.

I also worked somewhere where a few famous people came in regularly. Fanny Craddock was absolutely awful and I had to try hard not to laugh at her pencil line 'eyebrows' that were drawn on halfway up her forehead. Christopher Timothy was the most rude, arrogant man I've had the misfortune of meeting.

Dominic Wood of 'Dick n Dom' is adorable. So polite and just lovely!

What was her job? She worked herself?

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 24/04/2025 11:24

I've nannied for quite a lot of famous people. All I can say is that they're often so, so different from their personas, it's freaky! Also, much MUCH less beautiful in real life than they appear in the media!

CherryRipe1 · 24/04/2025 11:42

I was a PA for a fairly well known producer, director and writer for a while until he died. He was quite generous, funny & personable but didn't suffer fools gladly. He would openly discuss his fetishes and those of other celebrities, quite shocking, also liked the old sniff! He was blunt about who was nice & who was a c*nt in showbiz.

Ooh Christopher Timothy bought a porno mag from the well known high street stationer's I worked at as a teenager. Twas the talk of the staffroom!!

Dontlletmedownbruce · 24/04/2025 11:49

My pal worked with an international footballer, i am not allowed say who. One of the most famous people in the world. Insanely rich. She worked with the kids in the family home. He and his wife were respectful and kind and tried to live a normal life but had to deal with extremely strict security always. Their inner circle was tiny. My pal never gave any info away which is why she stayed in the circle! So I have no gossip but I thought the whole lifestyle seemed a bit tragic. Gilded cage.

surreygirlzz · 24/04/2025 11:53

Why did you feel the need to mention their looks? Surely we'd all look different after make-up artists and stylists have finished with us?

Radiatorvalves · 24/04/2025 11:55

Someone I know worked with Sven Goren Eriksen and said he was utterly charming and a delight to be with.

My sister worked for Diana Ross' husband, and she used to come into the office often. She said she was lovely, very unDiva. Happy to make her own coffee!

You lucky sister! oh to meet Diana Ross!

Kellybonita · 24/04/2025 11:58

I'm guessing OP is talking about Molly Mae or Charlotte Crosby

Kellybonita · 24/04/2025 12:00

But who is nice?

I think that most women I've met with and worked with are not nice. Most of them are competitive, selfish and nasty to other women. Especially to younger women.

It just seems to be how women are.

BoredZelda · 24/04/2025 12:00

It’s no surprise that the narrative is always generally “female celeb was such a bitch but the male celeb was so lovely

But that's always always the experience.

The male is nicer to the woman obviously because there is sometimes a small sexual attraction between a man and woman. Or if there is no sexual attraction, he doesn't see the woman as someone to be jealous of.

The woman is not nice to the woman because there is no sexual attraction (usually) between woman and woman. The woman instead often sees the other woman as a competitor. And so she is often jealous and nasty to her

beguilingeyes · 24/04/2025 12:05

'Status Quo - one was funny and charming the other was rude and arrogant.'

I can guess which one's which! I met Roger Taylor and John Deacon (of Queen) and Rick Parfitt from Quo at the theatre once. I was an obsessive Queen fan. Both of them were perfectly nice, but Rick Parfitt was one of the loveliest people I've ever met. A total sweetheart.

That’s so surprising about Christopher Timothy. I came across him once in a real life setting and we chatted for about an hour about all sorts of things. He was very friendly and chatty even though I was just a passer by.

That has been my unfortunate experience of female managers. Call me sexist but 9 times out of 10 I’d take the male manager.
