Anyone worked for someone famous?

I’m working in a company for an influencer/z list celeb. She’s well known in a certain group of people and hangs around with some pretty famous faces. She has her own fashion company.

I don’t report into her, but work closely with her and she is an utter bitch. The way she comes across on social media is so…different. Her intern films her for content daily and she puts on such a smiley show. When the camera is off, she’s rude, demanding, bitches about everyone in the team, including members of the team that go above and beyond to make her business a success and make her happy…I could go on.

she contradicts herself constantly, making me feel like I’m going mad. I know if I died tmrw she wouldn’t care. She cares only about herself and her success. She’s not even nice about her husband, who is such a lovely guy.

I want to get out this company asap. It’s just difficult to know where to go and what to do next so in the meantime…has anyone else experienced similar?

I have lost all respect for this woman. She is awful and everyone that works for her knows it.

David Tennant was a disappointment. Snappy, rude and had a sense of entitlement. I thought maybe he was stressed and ignored it but the other staff said he's usually like that 😔

Noooooo. That's made me disproportionately sad.

Brokeandold · 25/04/2025 18:14

I worked in a Pre-school and met some families of kinda famous footballers, honestly cannot remember their names, menopause brain! Only met the Dads once or twice, very nice, quiet guys.
The mums were soo lovely, did alot for the pre school, helped to raise funds, gave us all such lovely gifts . The children were lovely too.

Kellybonita · 24/04/2025 11:58

I'm guessing OP is talking about Molly Mae or Charlotte Crosby

Lorna Luxe…?

Brutalass · 25/04/2025 18:17

I've worked for/with soooo many. Some utterly lovely, generous, friendly and down to earth and others beyond hideous and I just wish I'd never known them! I think you're right when you male A-listers are generally nicer and those climbing the ladder from Z upwards can often be mean and ruthless ... although there's always the exceptions! I could tell you a few who are absolutely NOT who they seem.

Some of the loveliest people I have worked and spent time with have been; the author Barbara Taylor Bradford (sadly now deceased), Richard Gere, Robbie Williams, Henry Winkler (The Fonz), Jasper Conran, Sean Bean, Craig David, Dean Andrews and Myleene Klass among others .... for the less so the list is endless - but let's just say that the star of Darling Buds is anything but a darling and the Queen of Shops ruled with an acid tongue and everyone who knew her hated her with a vengeance!

This is just between us ... right?

Many years ago I worked for a woman who is now a well known mental health guru. She was utterly toxic and a narcissist.

Ohhh… I wonder who this was!

@FiercelyFree

The Human League - all friendly and down to earth.

I worked with Phil Oakey, when he was but a lad of 19, and before he became famous.
Happy to confirm he is an absolutely lovely man.

So happy to hear that about Phil Oakey. I was madly in love with him as a teenager and still think he's gorgeous now. 😍

LpPp · 25/04/2025 18:19

My kids do a bit of TV.
Stephen Graham is absolutely lovely, really makes an effort with the kids.
Danny Dyer also absolutely lovely with the kids.
Sister Monica Joan from call the midwife was amazing with the kids and babies… running around making them laugh between scenes. She’s very energetic despite her age!

Is that Molly Mae?

How can it be Molly when OP said she has a HUSBAND

Leafy3 · 24/04/2025 07:58

I was once given a piece of A4 paper, written on both sides, by the staff of a famous singer that had rules such as "don't make eye contact with X", "do not attempt to engage X or their entourage in conversation", "when X walks past, turn and face the opposite direction"

Why do people go along with such sh*t?

Some people are very prone to being star-struck, I guess?

I used to work in the media so came across quite a few well known people over the years.
The sweetest were Michelle Collins, Boy George, Tony Benn, Debbie Harry, Susan Sarandon.
David Starkey was a total sweetheart although you wouldn’t necessarily expect him to be.
I met a piano tuner who tuned PaulMcCartney’s pianos who said Linda was the kindest and most down to earth person and Paul was very welcoming and friendly.
A friend worked closely with Stephen Fry on a shoot and said no one else was allowed to be funny and the atmosphere was very much about the star’s favourites.

David Walliams can be, I’ve heard, nasty if you’re not important.
Nigella Lawson was a sweetie.
I do have sympathy with very well known people as they lose all privacy and have to deal with constant assumptions and presumptions. It takes a lot of maturity, generosity and patience to handle that well , I Imagine.
its like the quote (maybe from Bill Murray?) that if you could choose to be rich and not famous - that’s the ideal.

There's a rum handful - that would be a good party!

We had a day working with Jordan North and Timmy Mallet, promoting Timmys artwork in our gallery. Timmy was as expected, playing the fool with customers, bashing them with his mallet etc. As soon as anyone showed serious interest in his art, he turned off the fool, and was instantly the serious artist. We also launched a range of art prints by Neil Buchanan, we had queues of people wanting to meet him and he was lovely, very good with any children who came in, and also with the heavy metal fans bringing his albums in to be signed, an oddmix. Unfortunately, his artwork totally bombed and we ended up selling them all at a massive loss, still, we had a nice day with him.

restingbitchface30 · 25/04/2025 18:32

I’ve known a few people who work in tv. Nicole scherzinger is apparently very hard work. It’s also known in those circles that paddy mcguinness was a bit of a bully to his wife and kids so that divorce didn’t shock me. David walliams is also pretty unpleasant I’ve heard.

StarkleLittleTwink · 25/04/2025 18:34

My daughter worked for a well known fashion designer who was a right bitch. It’s not uncommon. Some if these people are narcissists which is how they get to be where they do - they trample on others. Not all celebs are like that though.

GiveDogBone · 25/04/2025 18:34

A number of my friends work in film and tv, there are tons of people like this in the industry, not just those in front of the camera.

I can’t quite figure out why the behaviour is so prevalent in this industry and not others, indeed in most others it would result in instant dismissal. Clearly there are a bunch of enablers, and a certain element of “it’s always been this way”. Yet there are also truly lovely people as well.

Oh and I’ve friends who work in politics, certain MPs and ministers would fall into this category as well.

Timmy Mallett’s bombed or Neil Buchanan’s?

I have a tenuous family link to Kirstie Allsopp. She is a self-interested moron whose sole interest is money and she’d take sweets from a child. Honestly…the stories…awful.

Noooo. 😮☹️

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 24/04/2025 08:13

I did because I was a fairly low rung on the ladder, and unfortunately then I would have lost my much needed job had there been any issues. I worked in the industry for a long while after, and worked my way up, and wouldn't have tolerated such nonsense later on. But you live and learn!

Everyone's gotta start somewhere 🤷🏼‍♀️

OhNoItsThePinkyPonk · 25/04/2025 18:44

Angelina Jolie - delightful
Lauren Laverne - utterly lovely
Tom Cruise - charming
Barbara Cartland - hilarious
Jilly Cooper - equally hilarious

Least surprising of the thread. She's a ginormous twat

I must go and find the forum with airline cabin crew posting anonymously about the various celebs, who is up their arse, who is nice etc.
I used to read it, but haven't for a while

Please let me know when you find it. I'm new here

1Outsider · 25/04/2025 18:16

Lorna Luxe…?

The Geordie lass.... Vicki Patterson.
I hope it's not her because she seems so down to earth

MusicMakesItAllBetter · 25/04/2025 18:48

Not worked for but I've used property belonging to Mike Oldfield.
I was hired to sing for someone (allegedly a love child of George Harrison) and we used Mike Oldfields studio to record the music.

JungAtHeart · 25/04/2025 18:50

A friend’s daughter was Margot Robbie’s PA. She is apparently the loveliest person. She is sent an awful lot of free stuff and gives it all to her staff.

ConstanceM · 25/04/2025 18:50

BigDahliaFan · 24/04/2025 07:10

A friend’s husband flies private jets, he’s very discreet, but he said Ed Sheeran, take that and tiger woods were all lovely.

I imagine everyone is nice to the pilot so he lands safely and isn't kamikaze in anyway 😂

QuiteUnbelievable · 25/04/2025 18:50

@Middleagedstriker

Isn't that ironic and ridiculous
