Anyone worked for someone famous?

I’m working in a company for an influencer/z list celeb. She’s well known in a certain group of people and hangs around with some pretty famous faces. She has her own fashion company.

I don’t report into her, but work closely with her and she is an utter bitch. The way she comes across on social media is so…different. Her intern films her for content daily and she puts on such a smiley show. When the camera is off, she’s rude, demanding, bitches about everyone in the team, including members of the team that go above and beyond to make her business a success and make her happy…I could go on.

she contradicts herself constantly, making me feel like I’m going mad. I know if I died tmrw she wouldn’t care. She cares only about herself and her success. She’s not even nice about her husband, who is such a lovely guy.

I want to get out this company asap. It’s just difficult to know where to go and what to do next so in the meantime…has anyone else experienced similar?

I have lost all respect for this woman. She is awful and everyone that works for her knows it.

I've always thought that Ronni Ancona's impression of Ruby Wax is (bizarrely and totally illogically) more like Ruby Wax than Ruby herself!

Ha! Cilla was legendary in TV for being an absolute pain in the arse to work with. Almost on Esther levels...

Yes, I almost fell off my chair when I read that earlier comment saying how nice Cilla had been!!

AInightingale · 25/04/2025 14:25

Andrew's nickname in the forces was 'Pin Head' according to my brother who was in the Navy at that time. He wasn't just unpleasant but a bit dim. (Andrew that is).

The Queen, Anne and Duke of Ed were all very highly regarded though.

Do you hate women or something? Very strange generalisation there.

She seems to have a huge chip on her shoulder about something, and it's ruining am interesting thread. Shame, really.

That’s so weird about Cilla. A couple of MNs have made negative comments so far. My mum worked for over 40years in a Theatre meeting all the celebs from her time there starting in the mid 60s to 2005.
She always said Cilla was lovely. One of her favourites in fact and my mum had to deal with all the demands they made for their dressing rooms when there. Plus clean up after them and prep for them every day.

Mums usually a good judge of character 🤷‍♀️
wish I could find our autograph books….the signatures might be worth something 🥳

Oh can we have a thread about all your experiences??? Danny Dyer by all accounts is a sweetheart, I was a non believer before "Rivals" but I'm on board now

I wish I had time as I have many experiences and my dad's stories are great and very interesting. This is a photo of my dad with Clint Eastwood and Richard Burton at a private birthday party for the man in the middle who worked on the set, it was his 21st birthday and they surprised him.

They had a programme about sex education through the years on Channel 4 some years ago, featuring famous parents and their children.

Danny was on there with his DD Sunnie and he came across as a really genuine, caring dad - and person in general; nothing like the bolshy 'lad' that people might have expected.

I knew someone in the press who met with Meghan a few weeks before she started dating Prince Harry.

She was absolutely desperate to be famous. Because she was very unknown in the UK (prior to Harry) the friend in the press didn’t want to bother meeting with her / writing an article about her but Meghan and her agent were relentlessly pushy as they wanted to get her profile up. She was desperate to land any man who would boost her profile / get her some attention and at the time she was messaging Ashley Cole.

I don’t doubt that this is all true as the friend told us this when her and Harry had only been together a few months, before everything went sour between her and the press.

This reminds me of what my friend (PR in London) told me about Meghan Markle when she was very first dating Prince Harry. One day MM decided her profile wasn't rising fast enough, so (against the advice of her PR person) got all tricked up in revealing gym wear, full make up etc and went into Whole Foods on Kensington High Street and bought a bag of groceries.

She then spent several hours marching up and down Kensington High Street, with said bag of organic groceries, desperately hoping a paparazzi would photograph her.

I wasn't commenting on the reason he was cancelled- more the loss of an outstanding historian generally.

So maybe step down from that high horse.

I why is it a shame that a racist historian was cancelled he wasn't that great!

HarryVanderspeigle · 25/04/2025 14:59

I didn't know this about Van Morrison. Saw him at a festival once and got very annoyed that he didn't thank his band. Didn't speak to the audience either, would have had the same experience on Spotify frankly. But not thanking the people playing for you felt proper dickish.

grumpygrape · 25/04/2025 15:05

Back in the early 1980s my husband was in a charitable organisation (Lions) and they had celebs to open their annual big earning events. First year I was involved, Jeremy Beadle came, said a few words, walked around sneering and left. Next year David Jason opened the event, stayed all afternoon, participated (it was an It’s a Knock Out type of event) by cheering teams on, helping/cheating with those on the losing side and generally being a great bloke. Signed autographs all afternoon and had a few beers at the end of the day.

Oh, David Blunkett was lovely when I shared a lift with him, his security staff, and his dog Lucy, and Lucy tried to get into the bag with my lunch in !

Umanresources · 25/04/2025 15:05

A friend worked for Michael Caine in his restaurant in the 70s and said he was horrendous to work for. Nothing like his public face. Very rude, condescending and arrogant to his mainly foreign staff.

Blimey, I've always fancied Marti. Definitely not now 😳😱

I fancied him too until I met him. Rude and up himself.

I must go and find the forum with airline cabin crew posting anonymously about the various celebs, who is up their arse, who is nice etc.
I used to read it, but haven't for a while

My late husband was a computer game writer and met Alan Sugar when Amstrad was a big thing - apparently he was exactly the same as he is on The Apprentice. He also met Barry McGuigan when he was world champion and DH 's company were doing a Barry McGuigan boxing game - he was a very nice, humble man

My DH probably know who your DH is 😅
He's very knowledgable about games coders from that era.

I worked for Lady Rothermere (Bubbles). She was known for being bubbly and sociable. Have never worked for a more miserable person. A maid would come in at 6 p.m. to wash and dress her; even put her knickers on. After this, a hair and make-up girl would arrive to do her face and wig. The whole day was spent in bed taking pills and shouting at staff.

She is constantly advertising for grooms, that tells you she's not good to work for

He's been known to turn around - on stage at live gigs - and just stand there reading his newspaper with his back to the audience during instrumental interludes!!

The current lady rothermere (jeongnshun lee) or the previous one (bubbles)?

A mate of mine is literally one of Van's biggest fans; he 's seen him live literally hunderds of times, and has written a (self-published) book about him. Even he admits VM is not a very nice guy. I asked him if he'd had any feedback as to whether VM liked his book, but apprently Van doesn't like anyone 'coat-tailing' him, as he so charmingly puts it. But his daughter (and I think my friend learnt this through her) is absolutely lovely, apparently.

Jeremy Beadle was super proud of the enormous amount of money that he raised for charity over a number of years - you'd have assumed that somebody like that would have been an ace at the charm and the good guy image (whether genuine or not); but then, Savile also raised loads for charity (I'm in no way accusing JB of committing any crimes like JS did, to make it very clear).

I think Jeremy was very good friends with Richard Desmond, wasn't he? When RD owned The Express, JB was mentioned frequently in schmoozy celeb pieces - and this was long after his heyday in the public eye.

Richard Desmond was very, very well-known indeed for... not being an especially nice porn baron person.

I know someone who works for Paul Heaton (Beautiful South), and he's as normal and pleasant as you would expect.
