Anyone worked for someone famous?

I’m working in a company for an influencer/z list celeb. She’s well known in a certain group of people and hangs around with some pretty famous faces. She has her own fashion company.

I don’t report into her, but work closely with her and she is an utter bitch. The way she comes across on social media is so…different. Her intern films her for content daily and she puts on such a smiley show. When the camera is off, she’s rude, demanding, bitches about everyone in the team, including members of the team that go above and beyond to make her business a success and make her happy…I could go on.

she contradicts herself constantly, making me feel like I’m going mad. I know if I died tmrw she wouldn’t care. She cares only about herself and her success. She’s not even nice about her husband, who is such a lovely guy.

I want to get out this company asap. It’s just difficult to know where to go and what to do next so in the meantime…has anyone else experienced similar?

I have lost all respect for this woman. She is awful and everyone that works for her knows it.

When I did my a levels we went to see some speakers at the Houses of Parliament and Tony Benn was on the billing. He had the whole room of mainly 17/18 year olds captivated. And at the end we all mobbed him to ask questions and he was so gracious and lovely. A real class act.

I posted earlier about meeting him and how lovely he was and there have been a few other comments saying the same which is heartening to read. I have heard him speak too and will always remember it. Wonder what he would make of the world today?

I was once given a piece of A4 paper, written on both sides, by the staff of a famous singer that had rules such as "don't make eye contact with X", "do not attempt to engage X or their entourage in conversation", "when X walks past, turn and face the opposite direction"

Why do people go along with such sh*t?

They mean it was written by the staff, not the celeb.

Why do people go along with it? What they get in return for association with the celeb. Celeb adds profile to the event or whatever it is.

I think its kind of to prevent any awkward moments being captured on camera, to make sure that the event they are supporting also has a good time - celebs being associated with events boosts the celebs profile too, there may be a strategic reason for atttending ghe event, you never know if it goes well then it could develop further. It puts responsibility on the event - they can't say they didn't know, if some nutter runs up to the celeb. And at the end of the day, if something dangerous did happen, there's liability and insurance.

I agree that the micro managing approach seems a bit ludicrous though. Most people aren't stupid.

Yup … you are so wise. A person can only be considered a desired object for so long before becoming in dire need of peace and privacy.

I agree. I would be called two faced at the very least I think. I'm a very outgoing, bubbly and chatty person 90% of the time but if I dont feel like being that way I just wont go to events and stay home instead. I imagine popping to the shop on a day like that and getting a camera in my face (even a fans phone camera) and someone would be told to f**k off! I hate an I justice too so am quick to tell people off if they're being rude to others, that would definitely be caught on camera and I would be labeled as unhinged. Probably just stay working for the NHS I think!

Not working but I used to visit a holiday park near where Keith Richards lived. One day I was cycling and fell off my bike. He came over to see if I was OK and put the chain back on for me. I had no idea until afterwards who he was. He was a real gent to me and was wearing a pair of jeans and tracksuit top, very down to earth

Profhilodisaster · 25/04/2025 12:36

A family member has done some work for Tom Cruise and Jason Momoa and Pierce Brosnan he said they were all very nice. Tom cruise sent one of his famous cakes .

I’ve never heard of this Tom Cruise cake so thanks for posting about that.

Apparently Tom Hanks said he would want it as his last meal !

Just looking up copycat recipes to give it a go. 🙂

I used to do a lot of work for Ginger Gilmour, ex wife of Dave from Pink Floyd. Very demanding and much the perfectionist work wise but, personality wise, really warm and lovely.

I also worked somewhere where a few famous people came in regularly. Fanny Craddock was absolutely awful and I had to try hard not to laugh at her pencil line 'eyebrows' that were drawn on halfway up her forehead. Christopher Timothy was the most rude, arrogant man I've had the misfortune of meeting.

Dominic Wood of 'Dick n Dom' is adorable. So polite and just lovely!

Completely unhelpful and not adding to this thread but my husband came back from the gym in a hotel in Singapore and said I've just been in the lift with Dave Gilmour and his wife. We live in a very small Northern village, Janice Battersby lives near and we see here and the bloke that played Billy Corkhill in Brookside so seeing Dave Gilmour was very much a step up!

I definitely think most of us start out nice.

Then after we go through several life traumas we become colder and crueler.

After we go through deaths, break ups, stress. Most people are not extremely nice to strangers.

I feel I used to be nicer to restaurant staff for example.

After going through some huge traumas, I'm now more snappy and cold with people.

But that's because I'm suffering in my own mind. It's nothing to do with them.

Edited

Still no excuse to be rude. Quiet , reserved , yes understandable but not rude.

He's someone that you never seem to hear bad things about now that his (very) wild days are in the dim and distant past. He comes across as charming and witty and another thing in his favour is that he has been married to the same woman for over 40 years which is a rarity in that world

My son works in am industry that has many famous clients, he said his favorite is Danny dyer as he is always up for a chat and a laugh. They have many events that my son has invited me to but I'm not the star struck person as I was brought up with my dad working in the film industry. My dad's favourite was Clint Eastwood and he got to use his motorbike, my mum said Elizabeth Taylor was lovely and had really tiny fingers as she let my mum try on her engagement ring. But my mum didn't like Peter o toole or petula Clarke.

Oh can we have a thread about all your experiences??? Danny Dyer by all accounts is a sweetheart, I was a non believer before "Rivals" but I'm on board now

LillyPJ · 25/04/2025 13:30

@DinoLil Slightly related... I once wrote to the author of a book of short stories I'd enjoyed - Polly Samson. She wrote a lovely letter back (not all authors do) and I only found out later she was Dave Gilmore's wife.

Yes, stepson laid flooring for Prince Andrew.
No surprise but he was vile.
They were told not to look in his direction, not to attempt to speak to him etc.
He witnessed the way he spoke to his staff and it was shocking.

I worked at a consulate in China in the early 2000’s and Prince Andrew came to visit. He walked into our office where we were all sat at our desks, and I could instinctively tell he was not a nice person. I was the only one who didn’t stand up from my desk when he came round to us to meet us and shake our hand. It was probably incredibly frowned upon, but I am proud I didn’t subserve myself to him.

I’ve not worked with them but I once bumped into them coming out of a bar as I was going in. Marco Pierre white let the door go in my face. Gordon Ramsay rushed back, apologised for him and held the door open for me with a big smile.

I've got a bit of a crush on Gordon too

my mum's neighbour's son was in the Falklands with Prince Andrew, said he was vile and arrogant. Interesting that this seems to be the same response from so many who have encountered him

Met loads of famous people and stil do due to work. Nicest: Colin Firth Graham Norton Greg James Radiohead (really) Zoe Ball Naomi Watts George Michael (the best). Worst. Oh loads but Cilla Black the absolute worst. And I know she has fans on here but Meghan Markle was not so much horrible but completely over the top fake sweet. And to the Bob Geldof obsessed women boss hating poster who seems intent on hijacking the thread: I am a female boss myself. I can’t speak for my staff but I have never had complaints. I also have a female boss. You seem to be incredibly frustrated and out for a fight. Sad.

I'm so in love with Greg James, my world would end if I heard he wasn't anything other than perfect

MyDreamyRoseOrca · 25/04/2025 14:03

@LT1233 He was genuinely nice gorgeous and normal. And tall! Just unassuming like you’d expect.

DailyMaui · 25/04/2025 14:05

I'm in broadcasting so have worked with many, many celebrities over the years. Most are really nice. As another poster said, usually the more famous they are the nicer they are to everyone. Brand new reality or talent show slebs are often the worst for rudeness and entitled behaviour.

But Marti Pellow is pretty much the only one who was vile, bordering on aggressive with me. It was like he was channelling Begbie from Trainspotting.

Doseofreality · 25/04/2025 14:05

Had many dealings with Louise Redkanpp over the years, and she was a complete witch in all of them. Has become a lot more witchy and up herself since the divorce.

Coleen Rooney - thick as pig shit and hard as nails.

Mo Salah - very sweet, very smiley and very shy.

David Walliams - the antichrist.

There are always going to be wildly differing opinions on the royals - with some more popular than others - and support for whether or not the monarchy should actually exist; but if PA had not been born into the family, I can't imagine anybody ever choosing to propel him into the world of fame.

Even the celebs who are widely known as being deeply unpleasant in real life - Van, Cilla, James Corden, Anthony Cotton, Karren B and many, many more - are mostly in their position because of their considerable talent in music, writing, performing, TV presenting, business etc.

Even aside from the elephant in the room, what skills or efforts has PA actually ever demonstrated for the enjoyment or appreciation of the public at large? If he'd been born to Maureen from Wigan instead of to the late Queen, would anybody have ever heard of him, or would he have achieved such a life of extreme luxury, privilege (and shielding from the consequences of his life choices) on his own merits?

Ahhh.... He just seems like he'd be the best best friend ever, so funny and normal. I proper love him.

Blimey, I've always fancied Marti. Definitely not now 😳😱

Not quite the same.. but when l was a student l worked for my friends family catering company.. they did outside catering too.. one of the contracts was for Emmerdale ... back when it was Emmerdale farm and filmed in Esholt.
We had big cafe vans.. with seats n tables and we would make bacon butties/ sausage butties .. tea/ coffee etc.. for the cast and crew.
Everyone was lovely except Shelia Mercer who played the Mum.

Naomi is vile. She used to stay in the same penthouse as P Diddy regularly at my place of work. She used to upset absolutely everyone for no good reason. I’m sure she’s from Croydon. Obviously has forgotten her roots

My cousin was a fashion stylist back in London back in the 90s and worked with Naomi Campbell several times. Apparently she was absolutely vile to everyone, except the photographer, and often reduced people to tears. She was an ignorant, aggressive chav who just happened to look like an angel.

So I've now read the whole thread and realised who this is. I have zero ability to figure these things out evidently, still racking my brains to even start to guess on the ones with initials! Please just say their names!!! Some of us are terrible at puzzles 🤣

I'm gutted to hear Ms Wax is/was a toxic narc. What a shame I've always believed her schtick.

DH & I sat next to Cilla Black in a bar in Barbados. We chatted for about 10 mins before she & her friends left. She was really was lovely although I did notice her accent was far more refined than it was on her tv persona, at least on that particular evening.

Ha! Cilla was legendary in TV for being an absolute pain in the arse to work with. Almost on Esther levels...
