I am back on Mumsnet potentially briefly I was on here a lot from around 2009 to maybe 2012 when my children were small and i was deep in sleepless nights etc etc all seems a distant memory now mine are teens. I’ve flitted in and out very briefly over the years. But really I remember when this was all fields 😂.

Are there any long term posters still going? I had an accident so my memory isn’t that great but so far on my brief travels I am yet to see any familiar names on any threads.

id update you all on my car crash life but I seriously doubt anyone remembers me its been that long

I remember you DOg - and quite a few others on the thread.
LindorDoubleChoc - were you Mme Lindor?

Has anyone mentioned Talcandturnips, ChaosTrulyReigns (with her dodgy phone that did multiple postings), Pagwatch or Hully?

@mumofoneAlonebutokayso ex sold horse while I was still in post traumatic amnesia thats a sorer subject!

@D0g

i remember you!! I was here from almost the start, kept the same name for years & years, but MN had so many security breaches & got so big (with some strange bods outing people) so I name change a lot now. Sorry.

there are lots of posters still here from then, but very few under the same name, unfortunately & it's vastly different now.

i'm glad you're now feeling that it all happened for a reason & you think that DH what's for the best in the long run, but what an utter wanker leave when he did & worse still selling your horse, that's unforgivable in my book!!

As per my username, I had a couple of strokes (in January) and life a bit shit just now, but you're very inspirational and I hope you stick around!!

I joined around 2003/4. Remember lots of these names. One of the first threads I read was by Nutcracker.

@Ihad2Strokesgosh you poor thing. How are you managing now? I can really empathise as I imagine much of our side effects are similar. You are also in the very early days recovery wise. I promise it’ll get better. I was horrendous in the early days I felt like life was over and all doom and gloom. I wish I knew then that everything would be ok. But i felt massively alone and just wanted to die. (Tried once or twice too) It must be hard to have something like that happen and nothing as such to blame other than bad luck if you get me. It weirdly gives me some relief in a way knowing it was my fault I fucked around and I certainly found out no one else to blame as such but me. Does that make sense 🤔

I’d completely forgotten that I had to sit at the desk and use the big desktop for mn at first. That seems a mad idea now! But gosh, all these familiar names! It felt like everyone had small children or were pregnant then, a real all in it together feeling. Seasonal name changes were fun and when emojis appeared it really felt like someone had actually given you a glass of wine. And the hmmm emoji was really quite strong, and could cause offence. Then of course the arrival of the biscuit, was it Gordon Brown who wouldn’t answer the ‘what’s your favourite biscuit’ question that started it? You could offer a hug but people always called them an ‘unmumsnetty hug’. Although I can remember many of these names I can’t remember what mine was!

EarlsAllsort · 23/04/2025 06:57

I remember being on holiday and getting the email about the Mumsnet security breach and email hacking. It was 2015 - and then all the trouble that Justine had with the guy who doxxed her. Didn’t he try to get into her house? Whatever happened to him? That was an angry man.

EarlsAllsort · 23/04/2025 06:59

Yes, the biscuit debates! I asked Jeremy Corbyn the biscuit question which he refused to answer and it ended up in the Daily Telegraph 😳

Energe · 23/04/2025 07:06

I’ve been here since 2002, I nc frequently now after what happened several years ago.

I can remember lots of names, sadly I don’t recognise any of them on here anymore. I liked the old times a lot.

Sandylittleknees · 23/04/2025 07:07

It wAs so funny though, you could really feel his terror at alienating a particular demographic through his biscuit choice, despite not worrying that his policies might do that.
When I first joined, I posted saying I wasn’t sure if I would bf or not and what was the big deal anyway. I got absolutely slaughtered over about 1000 posts. But it did lead to me learning a lot and bf for two years. I’ve still a copy of the ‘politics of breastfeeding’ somewhere!

stayathomegardener · 23/04/2025 07:07

I remember you D0G, sorry to read about your accident.

Yes was Gordon Brown, the curmudgeon.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 23/04/2025 07:12

I joined in 2009 which seems a long time now. I used to check recent posts and I don't think it all moved as fast as now. I remember a lot of people kept their names (did we have to then?) so I used to kind of "know" different people's stories.,

It was a real lifeline as I was fairly isolated and loved hearing what was going on with everyone.

Can't believe it's 16 years now though and my baby is 16.

We're low income and loved following some of the more wealthier posters and their lives. One I was fascinated with in London turned out to be compeltely fabricated (can't remember their name) and one in France I remember.

I was all about the breast feeding and sleep then.

I guess so many will have had kids that have grown up already.

I remember one poster posting videos of her daughter dancing.

And the person who got into the swimming pool without her knickers.

Penis beaker at the time was thought to be lowering the standards. Can't believe that's so long ago.

And yes the whole thing with the police squad

And She Who Must Not Be Named /Gina Ford.

Forgettingblue · 23/04/2025 07:14

Been here since about 2010/ 2011 but name change all the time!

Ohyoudodoyou · 23/04/2025 07:18

I’m enjoying reading these and D0g, sorry to see you’ve had such a dreadful time over the years.
on a lighter note, we haven’t seen Terry Wogan’s cock or that 🦇 puppet in a while!

Similar time as me. I went to school with Nutcracker and we discovered that Cod was our old history teacher. I don’t think Nutcracker is on here anymore but I “see” her regularly on FB

bigknitblanket · 23/04/2025 07:19

I’ve been on here ages but I change my username regularly. My first post was about a friend who was judgy about fat people and I didn’t want to spend time with her anymore (and I don’t)

D0g · 23/04/2025 07:20

I do remember the no knickers swimming now you mention it, i remember being really amused by it 😂. Iirc the poster was quite pregnant at the time.

yes I also remember when we had to log on on big ass computers, i remember moving house and how I was without internet for a while and people were quite shocked i was just using a phone to post on, that must’ve been at least 16 years ago now! As dc3 was a baby and she is now just gone 16.

I remember biscuit gate well this is a lovely trip down memory lane and my memory is actually a bit better than i first thought

Anyone remember the poster who ‘died’ and then posted as the partner /friend and got called out?

cheedle · 23/04/2025 07:23

Yes vaguely - there was always some sort of gotcha back then, as I say there weren’t as many of us and you could watch these events unfold over a few days. Better than Corrie!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 23/04/2025 07:25

Yes I used a laptop in 2009. I think it was a year later my husband was convincing me I needed Internet on my phone and I was wondering what for!?

I used to curl up braastfeeding with the laptop on the table next to the sofa.

Gosh how many hours must I have spent here in 16 years 😬.

I remember a lady who ran a bookshop who have birth same time as me.

But so much is fuzzy. I feel old.

cheedle · 23/04/2025 07:25

And the poster having an affair with another poster’s husband ?

Yes I do remember checking in and keeping on top of all the news. And the roundups.

I was probably online a lot less than I am now too!!

Lazlothevampire · 23/04/2025 07:29

I joined in 2003 when my first dc was 1.

I’ve had a million different registrations though, due to forgetting passwords, changing email addresses and of course, countless usernames.

I’ve wasted so much of my life reading random shit on here.

Lazlothevampire · 23/04/2025 07:34

I don’t know if anyone had mentioned it (I’m sick as all fuck and can’t read every comment), but does anyone remember the thread about the hamster falling into a pot a stew and being eaten? Must have been 20 years ago now, but I still think of it. It turned out to be totally made up, and I had a similar name to the poster so I was fucking hounded afterwards by a couple of idiots who were determined to prove I was her with a slight name change. Had to get mumsnet to intervene in the end to prove I was a different person.
