I am back on Mumsnet potentially briefly I was on here a lot from around 2009 to maybe 2012 when my children were small and i was deep in sleepless nights etc etc all seems a distant memory now mine are teens. I’ve flitted in and out very briefly over the years. But really I remember when this was all fields 😂.

Are there any long term posters still going? I had an accident so my memory isn’t that great but so far on my brief travels I am yet to see any familiar names on any threads.

id update you all on my car crash life but I seriously doubt anyone remembers me its been that long

'Just put butter in your coffee'

It was (apparently) genuine advice. Milk in coffee not considered essential. Use butter. Or cheese.

MrsEndeavourMorse · 23/04/2025 17:06

I've been here about 12 years and currently on my 31st name change 😂

I wish I could find the greated cheese in coffee comment again. I remember that specific thread and that’s what made me leave mumsnet for about a year after.

The sheer fear induced madness of a hell of a lot of people all posting in one place actually made me worry for the state of the world. People were just whipping each other up into a frenzy on those threads. If you went to the shop to get a pint of milk, you would most definitely be the cause of death for someone’s grandmother.

All the frothing over how they had seen someone buy a garden chair! a garden chair! People are dying and they are buying garden chairs in B&Q, they should be arrested! Martial law, now!

It was completely batshit, out doing each other on who could stay inside, suffer the most and be the most virtuous about it.

I've name changed over 200 times.

But back in the day, we used to name change all the time for a laugh. Particularly on funny threads or troll threads. I remember Chris Corcoran of Cbeebies coming to do a web chat about some vitamins he was the face of and we spent the whole time either objectifying him or asking facetious questions about his weird puppets. I believe I changed my name to ChrisCorcoranIsMyPimp after the conversation took a very strange turn.

Does anyone remember a thread about a dad who was scraping up roadkill and feeding his kids squashed badgers?

I remember Cod and her mates. Major mean girls vibes.

EeyoresLostTail · 23/04/2025 17:54

I joined a very long time ago but have done several name changes more a lurker than a poster I used too go on a Nannying site as that was my job back in 2006 and they all went on and on about Mumsnet so i came to check it out and stayed

Lovely to see so many old names, I joined in 2007 and have fond memories of how it used to be and how you ‘knew’ posters. Mouldiegate was very confusing for me.
I used to love Pagwatch and MrsDeVere on the SN boards.
The Friday night drunk thread was always fun.
Penis beaker was when the rot struck in.

All I can remember of Cod (or iCod or Godfather or whatever she called herself) was that she was always coming back with a new Cod related name (was she banned a lot?) and that her typing was in text like the Sex Pistols designs.

I remember Mile for Maude, and Pink Peter. And Riven and her lovely dd. And the poster with the beautiful dd Billie.
And the hilarious booble plate thread, and the 'he ate a fat ball'.
It was frequently the same names on threads so there was more of a sense of community.
Mouldie gate was painful - it was obvious who were part of the in crowd and who was not.

Penisbeaker was naff and contrived. MN lost its way afterwards.

I don't post much these days. Dc are young adults. I come, I read, I disappear.

Billie was the daughter of MrsDeVere

That's it - thought she was, but wasn't certain. Thank you :)

RampantIvy I've found the old thread, I was on it under the used name ifonly4. DD studied Sustainability at Edinburgh Uni. Very few openings locally in that field, so she was lucky to get a job in an Environmental/Sustainability consultancy nearby. Not sure I'll every have the time to tag the main posters on the thread, but it'd be interesting to hear what's happening.

I don't suppose you could post a link to it.

I have often wondered how other posters DC are doing now. Well done to your DD. The graduate market is brutal right now.
