I am back on Mumsnet potentially briefly I was on here a lot from around 2009 to maybe 2012 when my children were small and i was deep in sleepless nights etc etc all seems a distant memory now mine are teens. I’ve flitted in and out very briefly over the years. But really I remember when this was all fields 😂.

Are there any long term posters still going? I had an accident so my memory isn’t that great but so far on my brief travels I am yet to see any familiar names on any threads.

id update you all on my car crash life but I seriously doubt anyone remembers me its been that long

@ShowOfHands oh wow you still have it! I remember reading your description and thinking it was the same one as I had in my cupboard (lovely mug but I never used it - I think it was from Boots gift range one year with hot chocolate powder). I’m delighted you still use it.
I remember we exchanged a couple of nice pms back in the day. We still go on holiday regularly (in an eastward direction) - nearish to you

D0g · 22/04/2025 21:05

I am not used to new Mumsnet cant work out if i click to reply on stuff or not. Also my email inbox has gone totally savage with MN emails can I make that stop?!

I remember you DOg. I have had a lot of name changes so not sure what one you might remember, I’ve been on here for ages though. Sometimes I think of whomovedmychocolate and wonder if she still has a ghost ! Photos on profiles, that went quite a while ago. It was so much friendlier too.

Yes fairly certain I remember whomovedmychoc not the ghost though but my memory is extremely bad.

We're still here in the East.

I remember trying to describe it. CHUNKY and SORT OF SEPIA featured a lot!

I genuinely think of you every time I use the mug. It was such a kindness and when MN is burning in an AIBU fire and people are being utter guttersnipes, I remind myself that individuals on MN have affected my life in the most wonderful of ways.

I do think back to ggglimpopo and expat and onlyjoking and riven and misdee and EMIN and BitOfFun and on and on and on and remember the sheer brilliance and tenacity of women.

cheedle · 22/04/2025 21:09

I was on from 2003 - god knows, and have just come back here to post on drain worms. Obviously name changed. Mwah. Mwah. Mwah to the old timers 😘

myplace · 22/04/2025 21:10

@D0g there have been a few tough times involving data leaks and outing, so people got much fussier about name changing.

However, welcome back- it sounds like you’ve already been round by some old friends!

Yes, change your settings or it will drive you mad!

weegiemum · 22/04/2025 21:12

Joined in 2002! My registration number is in the 3000s, so I have been here a very long time.

wasn’t well known enough to become a mouldie!

D0g · 22/04/2025 21:14

@ShowOfHandsall of those users are definitely familiar. I am still fb friends with most of my prenatal 2009 mum group. But you have summed up the spirit of mumsnet far more succinctly than I could have. It was a big part of my life back then and a slice of grownup time when I was surrounded by CBeebies and nappies but also not just mindless tosh!

I’ve been here since 2011 when I became pregnant, but name change loads and even deleted my account at one point after the password/emails leak. I am a massive lurker though and hardly ever post.

Sandylittleknees · 22/04/2025 21:26

This is bringing back some memories! Been here since 2007, but like everyone else many name changes! Back then so many of the names were familiar and there was no worry about things being picked up by the daily mail! It really felt like a group of female friends. Now it’s still interesting but more like a group of strangers- I don’t recognise any names at all these days! I wonder what happened to everyone that’s been mentioned - are you by all still here, reading this, but with different names?

TheFairyCaravan · 22/04/2025 21:29

I’ve been here since about 2006. I have name changed though, but I do remember you @D0g. I remember your first accident. I’m really sorry to hear of your second one. Your husband sounds like an utter cunt, sorry but he does.

D0g · 22/04/2025 21:29

I must’ve been totally oblivious to leaks etc. but have seen posts come up on facebook via news stories and found that odd.

SharpOpalNewt · 22/04/2025 21:29

I think I first posted in about 2011.

ItsCalledAConversation · 22/04/2025 21:30

I’ve been here since around 2012, off and on and under various usernames. It’s good to know there’s a mix of old and new here!

Mxflamingnoravera · 22/04/2025 21:31

I joined when The Talk (Gurardian) ended. Must have been around 2008.

I am sorry to hear about your accident @D0g. But it sounds like you’ve made an incredible recovery.

I also had a friend whose pony drowned. It was tragic, I’m not sure she ever recovered.

I’ve had many names too, they always used to start with Orange but I ran out of orange brainwaves and have had this one a long time now (or variations of this one)!

I certainly remember the original penis beaker!

ICanBuyMyOwnFlowers · 22/04/2025 21:33

My name used to be Wills and ive been on here since 2002

D0g · 22/04/2025 21:34

Thefairy, realistically it’s possibly my fourth big accident 😳. Yes he is a total cunt I think in his favour he probably had a bit of a breakdown himself. But he has yet to redeem himself, in fact screamed at me a few weeks ago. Despite me having tried my best to be amicable for co parenting sake but he can take my good intentions and shove them right up his arse now horrible little man! So never apologise to me he is a pos

I remember a French lady or she lived in France…always had the air of wanting to portray that life is easy and that some of us were making it hard! Things I remember include that she would wake her child up a few minutes before school and give her breakfast in the parental bed. Due to this she didn’t think dcs needed to go to bed early like many of us did. I remember on a thread about packing for holidays she came on to say it was a 20 minute job, no stress. I’m fairly sure she was genuine and that she was quite a calm and efficient person.

BlueTitShark · 22/04/2025 21:36

Me 👋👋👋
live had to re register but have been here since 2005 ish after researching stuff for the birth of my second child.

Im thinking you’re going to struggle to find names that date from back then, simply because people will have change name at least once since then!

I have to say the introduction of FB made me name change even more often!
And nowadays, the way some posters automatically check ‘who you are’ ie your old posts means I’m always changing name if I start a thread for myself too.

BoredZelda · 22/04/2025 21:36

Yeah but I name change so often because there is nothing more cringey than these MN royalty threads.

D0g · 22/04/2025 21:38

I genuinely didn’t start thread to bitch about ex btw despite it being the hardest time of my life most of that was fear of the unknown I have met someone really lovely now and genuinely never felt happiness like it. Ex h and I were quite unhappy I think but weirdly I didn’t realise how unhappy he made me till it was all over.
