How have you been affected by the Tran's community?

As there are so many posts on here that discuss Transgenderism, has anyone been directly affected by the Tran's community, good or bad?
I'm quite young and only know one Tran's gender person, as far as I'm aware.

I’m sorry you feel worried that men are going to be female spaces. Maybe you can understand how other women feel when “trans women” think they can barge in.

I was in the post office and was cornered by a man wearing a dress, a wig and lipstick.
He then pulled up his dress to show me his penis that was covered by see-through white lace underwear. He then winked at me and said "I'm one of the girls".

This was really fucking traumatic as someone that was sexually abused.

Another trans identifying male threatened to put me on a list that was shared around "proactive" trans people and allies. Apparently they have lists where they work together to find the personal information of people who are outspokenly gender critical.

He then said I would be kept in a basement and beaten with a baseball bat.

I know one trans identifying female. She is neurodiverse and has always struggled with her identity. She was unfortunately sucked into the wrong online crowd and now believes she is a man. She has cut off her entire family because they said they would accept her for who she is and call her by her changed name, but they simply wouldn't say that she was a man.

I have had several very brief encounters with other trans people and have ended up removing myself from the conversations because they were clearly looking for anyone who showed the slightest hint of not worshipping them.

I'll be honest, trans identifying males terrify me. Every single one I have encountered has felt like they were on a knife edge of violence. Like incels that are not only accepted, but validated in their hatred of actual women.

It is funny (in a sad way) how these people actually stick so close to the traits of their actual biological sex. The men intimidate, threaten violence, violate consent and are aggressive..

The women cut off people who don't agree, but otherwise get on with their lives and keep their heads down.

Responding to the bit about the 'list'. Any kind of behaviour like that from anyone within the trans community would be immediately shut down - please rest assured that if any kind of list like that exists, it is not something the majority of the trans community is involved in or condones. It's vile.

Well i apologise if you feel there was a personal attack, I didn't intend that, I was interested in what you had to say.

Yes, so you could instantly start disagreeing with me. It's disingenuous.

I've been on MN a very long time. I'm well aware that women are actively looking for other women to deride. This is the point I made earlier. I've never been picked on by a trans person, but I've seen some truly vile attacks by women to women.

Look at how desperate some posters are to have a late night bullying sesh. That's not something I intend to indulge.

Yes I was born white but I feel strongly that I am black. I have my hair braided and speak patois. I won an award for being the first black woman to achieve the position I have in my company. There are other black women in the company and they are thrilled at what I have achieved and are sure they will get the same opportunties one day. I might not have had the same experiences as them (I have never been racially abused as my skin is white) but my experience is still as authentic as theirs.

This probably sounds grossly offensive. It is. So are men pretending to be women.

wtf does all this mean??

MN has gone mad

Tuttifrutticutiepie · 19/04/2025 01:01

I am sorry you feel that way, but it doesn't seem rational. You haven't made a convincing rational argument so my opinion hasn't changed.

I'm not interested in indoctrinating you into sharing my opinions. You think what you like - that's your business.

I'd appreciate it if I could state my own opinion without being insulted, but of course there's little chance of that.

It’s an analogy. And ever heard of Rachel Dolezal?

@Whatsgoingonherethenagain So what the Tran's community should be doing is advocating for Trans spaces to be provided?

If they don't want to use the ones available to their biological sex then that's the obvious solution

.

Yachtinggwoman · 19/04/2025 01:26

My son has left his wife and three young children to live as a woman. I am completely devastated. He is now an active member of the trans community.

None of my family saw this coming. We are all shocked and upset. The worst part, as far as he is concerned, is that he appears stressed and miserable.

I worry constantly about my grandchildren.

That's often true. I certainly didn't want that, more an exchange of views.

But you're not wrong.

I would feel more comfortable if people who looked like men didn't now have carte blanche to use the women's toilets.

Now any drunken idiot can just come in on a whim.

What on earth are you on about? Transgender men were always able to use women's spaces before this ruling, that hasn't changed because they are biological women. What has been cleared up is that biological men, whether or not they consider themselves to be women are not and never have been allowed, legally

onwardsup4 · 19/04/2025 01:39

I worked in a care home where there were certain female residents with female only care requests. We had a trans woman member of staff who was allowed to provide care to these individuals. The residents did not have the capacity the recognise the carer was infact a man and I think the families were felt too awkward to challenge it. This is wrong in my opinion

@SnowFrogJellyalso just completely failed to understand the Dolezal comparison.

His one line posts are dragging the average IQ of the thread down and not adding much.

They don’t understand that most women genuinely are quite comfortable with women who “live as” men. Or they pretend not to.

I'm 'on about' women who are telling trans men to use the women's toilets. I'm 'on about' how that makes me uncomfortable because I'm not used to seeing men with beards come into the women's toilets. I'm 'on about' how that makes me worried that any old hulking great man can now come in whenever they fancy it because apparently now we're inviting people who look like men into the toilets.

I don't mind trans women but I do mind trans men because that then opens the door for any man to come in.

I'm sure many women are thrilled about having trans men in the women's toilets but I'm not.

It’s a very rare trans person who “passes” completely as their intended sex. You can easily apot the difference between a trans man and a real, natal, genetic man. I wonder be too apprehensive on that score.

Giggorata · 19/04/2025 01:48

Yes, I got reported at work for pointing out to a young person what JKR actually said, and how it wasn't hate speech.
Similarly, when I would maintain my position as an adult human female and refuse to be called cis and wouldn't accept men in the women's loos.
A young man who wished he was a woman and several trans allies began dominating all conversations in and out of work meetings, on this one subject.

All this contributed to my decision to retire early, which has affected my income and changed my life. (It was bloody worth it, though)

Having said that, one of my closest friends was a trans identifying male, whom I dearly loved and miss every day, now she (courtesy title) has passed away.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/04/2025 01:52

I’m not really “inviting” women who identify as men into the toilets, but they have as much right to use a women’s toilet as any other woman.

I don't especially want to be stood in the women's with a man with a whacking great beard trying to assess whether he's trans or not.

And of course people pass.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/04/2025 01:59

You and me both. We disagree on which scenario it’s more likely to happen in.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/04/2025 01:59

The men rarely pass unless they transitioned pre puberty.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/04/2025 02:01

Not sure why some posters feel that shutting masculine appearing women out of women’s spaces is somehow desirable or progressive?

yoghurttops · 19/04/2025 02:20

In my teens my trans friend stole my boyfriend 😅

I had some of the best moments of my life with her, but sadly we drifted apart - I drifted apart from a few friends as my life changed significantly in my 20s.

This was in the 90s, she easily passed as a woman - but that was because when she hit puberty (as a he), they were developing female hormones. Things have changed so much and I worry it’s for the worst.

I have met trans people over the years. On a day to day they don’t affect me. But I do think it’s insane to change the law that will affect millions of women and girls and put us in danger to cater for 1% of the population. I really don’t know what the solution is, but
