So how do I live in the female gender?

1000 replies

Definitelynamechanged123 · 18/04/2025 14:28

There are 8834 people in the UK who have a Gender Recognition Certificate.
I am one of them.

To get it, I had to show evidence of transition, surgery etc. Lots of hoops

I also had to swear a Statutory Declaration. I had to go to a Magistrates Court and swear a legal declaration in front of a magistrate. It was all very formal.

I had to swear this:

" have lived as a (insert ‘male’ or ‘female’ as appropriate)
throughout the period of years before the date of this statutory
declaration and I intend to live in that gender until death."

This declaration is legally binding. Apparently if I don't follow this, I can be done for perjury.

So...how do I live as a female and live in that gender until death - I have sworn to do this in front of a magistrate.

I was very surprised that so few trans people have Gender Recognition Certificates.

No, I didn't choose to be trans any more than anyone chooses their sexuality.

Would you date a transman?

Can you think why I might think my life is better?

No.

Tell us.

Well now you know what women have lived with for centuries. Worried about being assaulted.

You need to work on educating men to allow men like you use men's toilets.

It's MEN who need to reassess this not women.

Well said!

Definitelynamechanged123 · 18/04/2025 19:20

I am worried about the toilet situation.

I am worried about the increased level of hate crime towards trans people.

Why are you worried though? Genuinely? Surely men just go into the toilets to pee and leave just like women do? Why would men not just ignore you like they would any other person in the loos and go about their business?

Definitelynamechanged123 · 18/04/2025 19:25

LobeliaBaggins · 18/04/2025 19:24

Why do you think there will be more hate crimes and who will commit these crimes? Men, I assume? Shouldnt you be on Dadsnet then? Because the women on here are unlikely to assault men.

I am sure you can imagine why there has been an increase in hate crimes towards trans people and why that is going to increase.

Ok well let me put it this way: if I was fighting for my life in hospital and a trans woman was fighting for her life next to me, I wouldn’t send her out of the room. If I was on the board of a company and we wanted to hire a female and the person hired was a trans woman and excellent at her job, I would be happy that the company would be successful. I really don’t fucking get why we make such a big issue of 0.26% of the population. Live and let live. People who are fussing over this need to get a fucking hobby

And if your talented football mad 16 year old niece was knocked to the floor unconscious in a tackle by a 30 year old transwoman playing on the opposing team who was a full foot taller and twice the size of your niece you would think “oh well, clearly she isn’t as good a player as we thought, the better player won the tackle”

Currently most amateur teams in many contact sports, have no restrictions on transwomen playing for womens teams. Though fingers crossed on that one, another wrinkle to be sorted.

LobeliaBaggins · 18/04/2025 19:27

Unless you define a hate crime as not letting you into womens spaces, all crimes against you will be committed by men. You should preach to men about that.

What increase?

More than women face very day? Rape? Assault?

As a 'woman', you should feel more vulnerable anyway.

But I guess that if you have the stature of a man, you have no idea what it's like to be a woman and feel vulnerable.

It is somewhat ironic that all your posts show that emotionally you have no idea at all how women think or feel. Your body may have been adapted so it doesn't have male genitals but your brain is still a man's. That's very obvious.

I was sexually assaulted by a man when I was walking home.

It'll be fellas who commit them, though.

As someone else said, you need to educate men.

Not us women. We already know what it's like to be in danger of assault from men.

Because as I have said before, 99% of men can kill a woman with their bare hands, the same is not true the other way. A trans woman is a man, they are at the same risk in the men’s loo as they would be if they were living as a man. Whilst I am sure most men are perfectly nice and would leave a woman alone if they were in the same loo, if they didn’t there is a 100% chance of the woman being raped or murdered. A trans women has the same level of being hurt as biological man

I was sexually assaulted by a man when I was walking home.

So was I.

I was also sexually assaulted by an ex, who invaded my home and terrorised me.

As I said, you need to address your concerns to men.

Hairyesterdaygonetoday · 18/04/2025 19:31

someone would have to define what living as a woman / living in the female gender means.

The trouble is, it could mean anything you like, or anything anyone else likes, or nothing at all. It can’t be genuinely defined. The concept is nonsense.

Women, like men, live in many different ways depending on their interests, their circumstances, their income, their family status and a myriad other factors.

I almost always wear trousers, never wear make-up, started my career in a heavily male-dominated occupation (and loved the work), and learned to drive a tractor before I could drive a car. As far as I know, I don’t have any of the gestures or traits that transactivists describe as ‘feminine’.

But I also like jewellery, think babies are gorgeous and have the unfortunate female-conditioning habit of putting other people first and feeling responsible for solving their problems.

Every woman I know could give similar lists of supposedly masculine and feminine traits. They’re nothing to do with what sex you are — even putting other people first is just a result of social conditioning, not sex.

The GRA is the only law I know of that requires people to pretend to believe something that all sane adults know is untrue. No matter how well-intentioned, laws enshrining a lie can never be good law. (And the GRA’s effect on women was never well-intentioned — women’s rights were never even considered.)

Well if my niece was that talented (rare) and she would be knocked down by a trans woman (even rarer) both of them would be scouted for man united as clearly they are both so talented. Also most amateur sports like football are grouped in age years, so a 30 year old wouldn’t be playing with a 13 year old. Tell me, how many trans women have you seen on your football pitch knocking 13 year old kids. You must have seen it many times to be this concerned

Crispynoodle · 18/04/2025 19:31

In all honesty I think most people will be happy to let you live your life how you see fit so it shouldn’t really change for you. Many women would agree that despite your surgery, your choice of dress and name you can never really understand a biological woman’s lived experience of misogyny and real fear of attack from men. That’s why safe spaces such as public toilets and female only changing spaces are so important. You can never know the embarrassment of a young girl who discovers she has bled through her clothes while out and about. The reason many will have hackles raised is simply because it’s not about you or any other trans women/men the issue is about biological adult (and children) human female’s rights

WilfredsPies · 18/04/2025 19:32

Flowergirlie91 · 18/04/2025 19:12

But why would you eliminate if it you cause upset for tens of thousands of people who already live a difficult life? So a bigot can sleep better at night to not be scared of something that was never going to happen anyway? Get off the internet obsessing over a thing that doesn’t affect your personal life and get a hobby. Or have you been assaulted by a trans woman? Because if that’s the case ok sure Im happy to listen to your argument

Nearly every single risk can be broken down to a none issue. But here’s the thing. You can eliminate it all together. By saying women only
Also please don’t assume the only issue with men being in women’s toilets is that they might assault a woman. It’s far more nuanced than that

She asks you not to assume it’s just a fear of being attacked and tells you that it’s more nuanced than that, and you continue to insist it’s about ‘bigots’ fearing they’re going to be attacked by trans women? Are you taking any notice of what people are actually saying? Or have you got tunnel vision so badly that you can’t see past mean old women refusing to be kind?

Just purely based on numbers, the chances of being attacked by a trans woman is incredibly slim. It happens. Of course it does. It’s regularly reported on and the proof is out there. But it’s not just trans women we have to think about. It’s the creeps with AGP who want to drag women kicking into their perversions (also heavily documented because they can’t help themselves posting on their social media about what they’ve done). It’s the predators who notice how nobody is questioning men going into the women’s toilets, or yelling for them to get out, and decides to make the most of that enclosed space. It’s the women who have suffered trauma at the hands of men not wanting to be in a confined space with them. It’s women of religion who now can’t use those facilities because they aren’t single sex anymore. It’s about wanting privacy if you need to wash your hands after a menstrual flood. Is any part of that ringing a bell with you?

plantsnpants · 18/04/2025 19:32

Tbh I think you are taking a legal ruling over the protection of women’s rights personally when it won’t impact you. Unless you plan to compete professionally as a female in sport etc

it will safeguard the rights of women, it will mean that the safe spaces women have fought for years are protected.

your rights will be protected under different leglislation - but this will not be at the expense and detriment of women

this is my limited understanding
