What are you spending your Nationwide £50 on?

Those of you who like me have got a free £50 from Nationwide and are fortunate enough to be able to spend it on something frivolous, what are you thinking of spending it on? I’m torn. Possibly perfume. Or something from the folio society. Or jewellery. Or cheese.

Lego!

Luxury pedicure with my chiropodist next week, get my hobbit feet summer ready.

criminallyvulgar · 11/04/2025 15:27

I am going on holiday next month so it's gone into the holiday spending money

seaduck · 11/04/2025 15:28

@jumpintheline We have one joint account and joint mortgage but got paid it twice so you should both get one.

EilishMcCandlish · 11/04/2025 15:29

It will just be subsumed into my bank account. I don't tend to think along those lines of allocating money for something particular.

TooManyCupsAndMugs · 11/04/2025 15:29

I treated myself to some new summer bedding and a storage bag for my winter clothes!

seaduck · 11/04/2025 15:30

Ours is going towards some outdoor tiles for the patio, we got £100 as joint account!

hattie43 · 11/04/2025 15:40

Not sure what I’ll do with mine as I don’t need anything , maybe put it towards the Lego sunflowers .

2JFDIYOLO · 11/04/2025 15:41

I've just spent mine on a super-glamorous piece of self care:

The local pharmacist sucking the clogged earwax out of my ears with a teeny hoover.

£60.

WORTH IT.

The world is ... BETTER.

I thought it was a scam text! So thank you. I can't find any account details and don't think I've used account since I moved house so I'm going to go into a branch and claim that £50!!

24CRZZNKKA · 11/04/2025 16:06

Iv put it towards my impending maternity leave

That sounds brilliant, to be fair.

Books - I am going to a large book signing event in Summer and will buy a couple of more books than I planned.

Vipersgonnavipe · 11/04/2025 16:13

My household got it x4, we all have current accounts with nationwide.
I have got new sandals. DH needed some new tops.
The kids spent some of theirs on junk food for a movie night. The fact they cooperated was priceless! They even get interest on their accounts so I guess it will gain some small amount too.

Ener · 11/04/2025 16:14

A water pillow

Xmasbaby11 · 11/04/2025 16:52

I'm going to take the kids bowling. They've not had an exciting holiday (visiting elderly relatives, entertaining themselves while I study) and they love bowling but we never go as I think it's a rip off.

I do need to look out for offers to get a bit more for the money though -at our local place, one game each would cost £32!

You don’t need to do anything to claim it, it just appears in your account.

Me & my OH got £50 each but we each have a current account.

We did too, joint mortgage and both have savings accounts. Our £100 is going in the holiday pot! Hoping it will be joined by another fairer share payment later in the year.

MotherOfCatBoy · 11/04/2025 17:15

We haven’t had ours yet - both got savings. Can’t remember if it’s supposed to turn by transfer or cheque but either way it has t arrived yet.

LoveDandelions · 11/04/2025 17:23

I'll probably stick it in my S&S ISA. Spend it when it's doubled 😁

WearyAuldWumman · 11/04/2025 17:24

It was going to be spent on plants, but I took the Jetwash to my car this afternoon and then a ruddy wing mirror slid right off and smashed...

Cynic17 · 11/04/2025 17:27

Whilst I appreciate them giving it, it's a very small amount, so it just goes into the account and I won't really notice it or allocate it to anything. Slightly lowers the overdraft? 😂

redfishcat · 11/04/2025 17:32

Ours has gone into the bills account.
but expensive scotch sounds like a much better Plan, especially an Islay malt.

EffortlesslyDecluttering · 11/04/2025 17:33

I think towards a takeaway or meal out, my DCs are off uni and college this week (they both got it too but I’ll treat them as they are poor students). DH sadly doesn’t bank with Nationwide and mine isn’t a joint account.

Sevenamcoffee · 11/04/2025 17:34

It’s going towards a weekend away with female friends
