Friend is on here but I'm sure she can cope with me being 'public'. And hello, my darling!

But phone went off middle of the night telling me childhood friend had died. Turns out this is nonsense. Isn't that a really cruel thing to do to someone? I was throwing up. I'm not sure what I'd gain from posting here just a bit of feather soothing and 'relax'. I don't want anyone to say they deserve a kicking I just think that was a horrible thing to do

Really sorry it’s bad news after all. What did the message actually say that made you think it was a joke?

Sense of disbelief and the date and I didn't know who it came from at first.

It's a bit clearer now I know it's his mother.

It sounds like the mother was in shock full of confusion to phone in the middle of the night, anonymously like that to say her son had died.

I am so very sorry for your loss OP. Do you have a good support network irl?

Allwillbewell2 · 02/04/2025 07:14

So sorry to read your update OP. Hope you can take some time to process.

I’m sorry your friend died (not really sure why you jumped to it being a prank) but who is the ‘hello darling’ friend you mentioned as possibly being on here?

Wasn't expecting that time of the morning and given the day didn't know who it was from or if it was real.

Turns out it was real and from his mother but she was grieving. I need to shut up now and send her some flowers. I apologise for starting this thread.

@ThinkTink So sorry for your loss.

I’ve received a call from an unknown number before to learn that a traumatic unexpected event happened, and a friend was at end of life care & to come visit. I don’t think people ever really understand until they receive a call like this one. I’m so sorry again for your loss. Please be kind to yourself, surround yourself with people who loved your friend, take all the time you need & don’t be afraid to reach out for help when you’re ready x

I've just seen your update. That's really sad, I'm so sorry. 💐

Who was this referring to OP? Did you think a different female friend had pulled this prank, why? And wasn’t the mums email address visible when you received the notice?

So sorry for your loss, what a tumultuous way to find out. 💐

That bit didn’t make any sense regarding the updates. I asked the same question but got no response. I’m sorry if her friend passed but this whole thread seems weird to me.
