I've just had the nastiest April fool whatsoever

Friend is on here but I'm sure she can cope with me being 'public'. And hello, my darling!

But phone went off middle of the night telling me childhood friend had died. Turns out this is nonsense. Isn't that a really cruel thing to do to someone? I was throwing up. I'm not sure what I'd gain from posting here just a bit of feather soothing and 'relax'. I don't want anyone to say they deserve a kicking I just think that was a horrible thing to do

No not at all. I think you have my friends muddled up. Friend who purported died completely different from others.

I just don't understand why I I was contacted the time of the morning and what exactly happened l was nowhere near

So have you checked that the original friend is ok?

I don't think I've done that - thing that I've been severally back and forth about is did this happen and if so why was I contacted after 2am. I'm not a close relative

Why could you type and spell with coherency in your original post but all of your updates are completely non-sensical 🤣 you said in your first post it was nonsense and a joke - now you’re saying you don’t know, and your biggest concern is why you were contacted at 2am? Anonymously?

You said your friend is here, as if the fake phone call was from her. But later you said you didn’t know who it was from.

OP, you had a couple of bereavements including your mum recently. Then you had a thread called ‘stream of consciousness’. Are you okay? Do you feel muddled?

This makes no sense. Surely you would have asked details, who’s calling you, how the friend died etc?!

As pp have said, you seem quite muddled and upset. Have you got someone to talk to about this? Have you friends or family around?

OP, I think readers need some clarity from you.

Did you receive a withheld number phone call or a withheld number text message?

Did the caller or the text mention the full name of the person who they alleged had died, for example, did they say "I'm contacting to let you know that Mary Smith has died."?

Or did the caller or text only say something vague, like, "Mary has died." or Mary from your old school has died."?

If the latter, then it could have been kids messing around and dialling random numbers using a common name that happens to be the same name as a childhood friend.

And why have you posted:

if this is not the childhood friend or a person you think might have contacted you anonymously?

It's because I don't KNOW. I thought at first that he had died then started to get confused about if it was genuine and it was from a new email account no signature.

I didn't mean for the thread to be 'interesting' or fodder as such it just upset me a lot so I tried to reach out. I'll have to wait for another childhood friend to get back so no dramatic updates here.

Can ask MN to delete if it upsets anyone else

Thanks yes I have been very confused recently with other deaths.

Turns out this was from his mother so yes it's real and case closed. I wish she'd said that in in the first place really confused me yesterday if it was a joke or not.

So game over he's died.
