Is there any celeb you feel sorry for?

Watching one of mg favourite films again, (Easy A) and it’s got Amanda Bynes in it.

I still feel so sorry for her. She was so talented and I loved her movies and it’s sad to see how she is now. I genuinely hope she gets all the help she needs

Meghan.

It might seem a bit more frivolous than some of the above, but I feel sorry for people who end up very famous but don't earn anything like the amount that most people assume that 'somebody on the telly' must earn. Not saying they're on the breadline, but hardly rolling in it.

I bet they get people trying to tap them and beg from them all the time, 'friends' expecting them to pick up the bill every time. People calling them tight when they live to their actual means, rather than their assumed celeb riches.

If they go on a celebrity edition of a gameshow, anything they win is automatically for charity; yet a member of the public who also happens to be a top lawyer, CEO of a successful company, head teacher at a private school etc. may well earn far more than they do, but get to keep the lot on an 'ordinary person' edition without any controversy at all.

It must be the worst of both worlds having to put up with being in the public eye but without being loaded in exchange for it!

TakeMyLifeAndLetItBe · 29/03/2025 22:36

Robin Williams. He was such a talented and yet, tortured soul.

TheBuffetInspector · 29/03/2025 22:36

Drew Barrymore... I don't feel sorry for her but she is one lady that overcame everything that was thrown at her too young after being perfectly cast as Gertie. I'm actually quite I awe of her.

Ohioatdawn · 29/03/2025 22:36

Definitely Justin Bieber.
Having gone down a rabbit hole recently about P Diddy and all of his sexual abuse towards others. Boy do I feel sorry for Justin now I know what I know. Much more than 'feel sorry' for actually. That's sounds trite in comparison to the sexual and mental abuse Justin has been subjected to.

Funnily enough I too found myself feeling sorry for Milania when I watched the inauguration. I found myself unexpectedly scrutinising her body language and facial expressions and the fact that she chose to cover her eyes completely with her hat. I wasn't expecting to pay so much attention to her. But I thought she silently spoke volumes by the way she came across at the inauguration and I definitely had a sense that she is very deeply unhappy.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 29/03/2025 22:40

@IfYouPutASausageInItItsNotAViennetta I know what you mean and funnily enough I was thinking earlier about people who used to be famous personality types, like Kerry Katona for example who isn't on telly or in the press these days but still has never had to get a proper job. I saw online that she's touring with Katie Price now😬 but she also has nice houses and cars. Where's she funding it from?!

LeaveTaking · 29/03/2025 22:41

Lily Allen.
Unusually targeted for vitriol for whatever she does or doesn’t do.
In a way I don’t think would happen were she a man. Same for a lot of female celebrities I think.

midlandsmummy123 · 29/03/2025 22:44

I'm surprised at the amount of posters who feel sorry for Katie Price - whilst I don't disagree that she was taken advantage of and has MH and addiction problems, her youngest daughter at what age 8? live streaming attempting to make herself noodles late at night on Christmas day because she was starving was very sad.

Presumably she wasn’t forced to marry Trump though ?

You only have to read a few threads on MN to know that a lot of women marry men who subsequently turn out to be pretty difficult to live with.

Ohioatdawn · 29/03/2025 22:46

@Thisissuss
What childhood abuse did Katie have?

WhatAPrettyHouse · 29/03/2025 21:33

Freddie Mercury.

An immense talent, died of AIDS far too young. Just a few years later the treatments had massively improved and people can now live relatively normal lives with HIV.

I know. Makes me so sad to think he just missed out on treatment 😢

Terry Hall. Beautiful man.

I know he's gone now but my heart will always ache a little when I think of him.

I feel the same. He was the music of my youth.. I first saw him when I was 17, and again a year before he died. He was probably a grumpy bugger, but always seemed a little bit sad. 😕

Charlize43 · 29/03/2025 22:23

I feel sorry for Nicole Kidman because it must be impossible for the people around her to tell if she's happy or sad, unless she tells them. Also having to wear all those wigs all the time...

Nicole Kidman wears a wig???

Stardust286 · 29/03/2025 23:12

Katie Price. She's been through so much but she's self destructing. People are saying she's had her teeth done again, she hasn't she's just lost so much weight her face is gaunt and her teeth are now too big for her face. She needs an intervention before it's too late

I expect it does help if they happen to be a multi millionaire or even a billionaire, Beats worrying about whether you can afford the rent or to put on on the heating.

They are free to leave their celebrity behind anytime. So no I don't. Those who step outside or just try to be normal I admire eg Kate Bush. But it's a hard thing to leave I would imagine. Watched that Boyband series and could see the toll it took.

Under her father's conservatorship, Britney Spears was very much unable to leave her celebrity.

I feel sorry for Giles. Mary seems insufferably prim and affected.

I've met them a number of times for non celeb reasons and they seemed like a lovely couple, I think all of the above is just their schtick for goggle box

This is gonna sound daft but I genuinely feel sorry for Melania Trump.
I can't imagine she ever wanted to be the First Lady.

I’m stunned she married him at all!

Tipofthecattoes · 29/03/2025 23:25

Yeah, poor melania who also wore this shirt in the height of discussion around Trump

‘ I really don’t care, do you’

she’s an absolute arsehole.

I saw him in 2016 (17?) blimey, the years go by...

The Specials and Fun Boy Three... I would have been too young to see them live late 70s or early 80s (well, born 75!) but music was mine and my older brothers life. Still is in some respect.
I loved his version of 'She'... I'm thinking original was Charles Aznavour but I have just completely made that surname spelling up 🤣

Kate8889 · 29/03/2025 23:26

Sharon Tate

I feel most sorry for Bradley Walsh. People have continuously pointed out his sexual inappropriateness and it must be hard for him

Edited

The first inauguration or the second?

She's not new to this gig.

I see him and so often, I sometimes expect to find them in my kitchen.
