Watching one of mg favourite films again, (Easy A) and it’s got Amanda Bynes in it.

I still feel so sorry for her. She was so talented and I loved her movies and it’s sad to see how she is now. I genuinely hope she gets all the help she needs

To be honest, any child actor or singer. The industry is relentless, and it's virtually a guarantee you'll get pushed onto drugs, sex, scandal, and absolute exhaustion.

LunaNorth · 31/03/2025 08:39

Paul Michael Glaser, who lost his wife and two children to AIDS after his wife was given infected blood during the birth of the first baby.

What an utter tragedy.

lolly792 · 31/03/2025 09:00

An earlier poster mentioned actor Nicholas Lyndhurst. He comes across as a very grounded, understated man. The horror of losing your child is unimaginable. I believe it was a very sudden illness, he and his wife discovered that their son had died overnight. Just awful.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta you mean “ au fait”

@groovylady I'd also add River Phoenix to your list of tragic young actors. So young and such mesmerising raw talent. A real shame the dark side of Hollywood got to him.

BunnyLake · 31/03/2025 10:03

I feel for Blue Ivy Carter, she doesn’t stand a chance due to her appalling parents.

Skimpyy · 31/03/2025 11:43

Kylie - not quite why. Sort of detect a saddness beneath.

Maybe because all of her relationships end and she doesnt seem to have the cosy stable suburban family life she was raised in.

I feel more sorry for him and his siblings upbringing, hippy parents wandering around the country no stable home or school life then joined a child abusing cult. I thought I read a story years ago about him and his siblings literally singing and begging for their supper in the streets.

it always amazes me the start of some celebrities life’s, how they can go from nothing to everything. I have so much respect for the ones that make something of themselves, not that I don’t respect those that don’t, but I think the ones that break the cycle and survive deserve extra praise.

This is gonna sound daft but I genuinely feel sorry for Melania Trump.
I can't imagine she ever wanted to be the First Lady.

Hmmm. I imagine compared with whatever she was doing before - "modelling" I think, it;s pretty good

Tonkie18 · 31/03/2025 18:21

Robin Williams ❤️

BobbySox71 · 31/03/2025 18:24

Prince Harry, I can’t stand Meghan and believe her to be a narcissist.

Harry was one of the best loved royals and I was happy for him when he found love.
He’s estranged from his family and old friends 😢

DonaldMacRonald · 31/03/2025 18:30

Katie Price. She is bullied by the media daily, it's disgraceful. No wonder her mental health has been affected.

Alan Davies -horrendous childhood

I didn't know this, just googled now. Wow I'm really surprised. I just assumed he was one of those high achieving privileged types that so often become successful on TV. I always liked him but now even more so.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 31/03/2025 18:39

I heard that 'stars in their eyes' song the other day, and I'd forgotten how good the lyrics are. It particular resonates with teen bands in the 90s and 00s and how they were mistreated

Remember they said you'd show them all
Emphasise the rise but not the fall
And now you're playing a shopping mall
Your mum and dad, they can't believe
What you appear to have achieved
While the rest of these users are just laughing in their sleeves
But since you became a VIPerson
It's like your problems have all worsened
Your paranoia casts aspersions on the truths you know
And now the tabloids use your face
To document your fall from grace
And then they'll tell you that, that's just the way it goes
That's just the way it goes

I can't find it in myself to feel sorry for Charlene of Monaco. Nobody forced her to marry Albert and she must have known what he was like re former relationships and children.

Yes. I'm sure I read his book. Weird sexual abuse I recall. Horrible.

Robin Williams ❤️

This really upsets me. I have awful health struggles so think about his situation.

Even now, people blame depression. He was actually suffering from undiagnosed Lewy body dementia. He was frantically trying to making sense of his decline with no answers despite trying to find them.

Only the autopsy revealed it.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 31/03/2025 19:00

Micheál Martin, the Irish Taoiseach (PM). His baby died of cot death at just a few weeks old. So tragic. Yet a couple of years later his little girl fell ill and died at age 7. You might not agree with his politics but you can't but admire the man, how he spends his life visiting hospitals and schools i don't know. Let alone listening to people moaning (however rightfully) about their heating bills and bus service.

Britney, I don’t know WTF is going on with her but it doesn’t look great.

Loana, the winner of the first season of the French Big Brother back in about 2001. She is on social media a lot and the comments she gets are horrendous but she carries on. Obviously she won’t be famous in the UK but she’s the first person who came to mind when I saw the title of the thread.

Have you read Les Enfants sont Rois (Kids Run the Show) by Delphine de Vigan? Loana features in that. Interesting book about the children of influencers.

I feel sorry for children growing up in the limelight, they didn’t choose it. And young people making normal mistakes with the world watching.
Definitely feel sorry for Britney.

Wishyouwerehere50 · 31/03/2025 19:10

@Dontlletmedownbruce love the name. I had an ELO night last week. Back to back songs on Alexa. I'm in my 40s but the music played to me growing up and nothing beats it. Even live now, he's absolutely killing it with his voice and the instrumental stage production. ( Total digression 😆).

Thisissuss · 29/03/2025 20:14

Katie Price. That woman had a lot of childhood abuse and was not given help until far far too late and far too many men had taken advantage. Addiction and MH problems galore. I don't think the things she does are right but she is definitely a celeb I feel very sorry for.

Kamala Harris - I do wonder if she would have had more of a chance if Biden had stepped aside sooner or any of the party around them had admitted he was too old to run again. I hope she gets another shot.

Kamala Harris had two major problems: being black and a woman. But if Trump keeps on screwing up, maybe she could next time.

Britney without a doubt. She’s been manipulated from a young age and her mind is warped now. She can’t even mother her children. Everyone she meets abuses her. Also prince harry. Still convinced he knows something about Diana’s death.. and he’s defo not Charles son.. I tho k the royals don’t push things with him incase he speaks out about Diana’s treatment. William and him are not full brothers. Remember he’s a ‘spare’

Wishyouwerehere50 · 31/03/2025 20:43

I read somewhere about Britney and there was a more detailed analysis of her treatment at the hands of Justin.

Of course you have to be cautious what you buy into. However, It made sense to me and it rang true. There was a discussion on this article regards what had happened in the lead up to the head shave incident. Justin walked away like some champ whilst sticking the boot in and appearing virtuous.
And the ex with the kids, he and his family all seem of the same mentality to take advantage with little compassion or empathy.

Britney's videos are off the wall, it needs to stop. However, she's a vulnerable and alone target for certain people who will take advantage and also abuse her. It started with her hideous parents.

Hard to really know their lives as I don’t personally know them and rely on media based facts. However:
Jennifer Aniston
Lisa McPartlin
Kate Garraway
Britney Spears
jacqueline Jossa (sp?)
Colleen Rooney
Bruce Willis
Warwick Davies
Eric Clapton
everyone that’s lost a child
