Watching one of mg favourite films again, (Easy A) and it’s got Amanda Bynes in it.

I still feel so sorry for her. She was so talented and I loved her movies and it’s sad to see how she is now. I genuinely hope she gets all the help she needs

Why would you feel sorry for a manipulative narcissist? 🤔

That's your diagnosis. Not everyone has the same view as you.

I feel sorry for her. But let's not turn this into an I hate meghan thread... the RF board is over there ⬅️

I think she`s alright.

Freddie Mercury.

An immense talent, died of AIDS far too young. Just a few years later the treatments had massively improved and people can now live relatively normal lives with HIV.

His generation were very unlucky in just missing out on life saving treatment.

Had his condition been 3 or 4 years later he'd probably still be here today.

Danny Baker posted an offensive meme on Instagram. He lost his job, rightly, and was absolutely vilified. No newspaper printed or supported that.
I am very sorry that Meghan's had severe MH problems, but there could be many and various reasons for that.

Actually the daily fail took great delight in printing it. And the way they bully Megan os revolting

They reported it. I'm not one to support the DM, but "delight" is incorrect. They said all the right things, and condemned it.
As did everyone else. Quite rightly.

Yes, Freddie was amazing. What a shame.

This is gonna sound daft but I genuinely feel sorry for Melania Trump.
I can't imagine she ever wanted to be the First Lady.

True, but I have never seen a face more cold and calculating. If she hates him why doesn't she leave, she'll get a fortune in the divorce. No she's staying for a reason, and it's not for him. I have no idea what it is though.

While not a celebrity by any means, I was recently very disturbed to read about Maria Kovalchuk, aged 20, the Ukrainian OnlyFans model & 'influencer' who travelled to Dubai, was missing for 10 days and was recently found by the roadside with a broken spine and broken limbs. She is currently in hospital, but cannot speak, so it is impossible to know what exactly happened to her.

Recent news report alleged that she may have attended one of these 'Porta potty' parties that 'influencers & Instagram girls' travel to Dubai to make easy money. Regardless of your thoughts on sex workers, nobody attends a party thinking that they'll come out of it with these types of injuries, which will affect them for the rest of her life. It is horrific to think that she might have been tortured (as implied in some articles). Nobody deserves that.

I hope she recovers and can eventually tell her story of what actually happened to her.

Years ago, I worked with a bright young woman, who gave up a perfectly good office job, to become one of those 'Instagram influencers.' When I last heard about her, she had progressed to posting bikini shots for likes to suggestive lingerie shots to OnlyFans and the person who told me about it implied that she was now doing sex work for a living. I will never understand why some young women are attracted to this as a career, but I am not here to judge.

Prayers for Maria Kovalchuk. This is a really sad story.

Model missing for 10 days after Dubai ‘sex party’ found broken, bloodied on side of road

Maria Kovalchuk told friends she was attending a hotel party while in Dubai, but her family grew worried when she missed her flight two days later to Thailand.

Amber Heard... I can't defend her or Jonny Depp.

Both very toxic towards each other.

She shat on his bed. He's still missing a finger tip.

Boak. Neither of them came out of that well.

She came out much worse.

The Karen trope (entitled, obnoxious american white woman) is her to a tee.

He had no intention of going through the courts and wanted to settle things amicably in private. She being the Karen she is, plus the fact she has had a minor career in contrast to him, went for a public spectacle to garner attention and thought she would be pandered to. It backfired spectacularly as her character was exposed (if you have a unlikeable personality it's best to keep it concealed). She is on tape having instigated many fights so it wasn't just him, and he is recorded trying to get away from her. His exs including Kate Moss vouched for him.

Ultimately he is an immensely popular charismatic star who wanted to keep things amicable and private, while she is a publicity seeking Karen whose name awareness relies on being associated with him.

PoppysAunt · 30/03/2025 13:19

@Charlize43 what a disturbing story.
I heard something similar from a person who was a nurse there.

Robin Williams. He was such a talented and yet, tortured soul.

I was watching a little clip,on Instagram, of him with his very funny mother. He is laughing so much as she talks and they are clearly close. It’s so sad how he struggled.

Doesn't have a history of violence? Maybe not but what he said about wanting to do to Amber in messages shows he has a very violent streak and dark ideations. He was found to have raped her in court in the UK. But of course you think because Depp is an A lister she is automatically guilty and he can do no wrong. I believe if he were a D lister or less you wouldn't defend him.

Ahhh yes the great British justice system where evidence was deeply flawed bias and withheld. The case was against the news group newspapers and not between heard and depp themselves. And the judge who found the allegations to be “substantially true” had a son who worked for the defendant. The whole case was riddled with conflicts of interest, the judges immediate family, wife and son having friendships with defendants, firm supporters of heard. The whole ruling was based solely on Heards testimony, and we all know what a liar she’s turned out to be. So I really don’t hold much stock in a verdict where a judge rules in favour of his son’s employer rather than recuse himself from the case due to the convict of interest.

I think I’d rather believe the televised court case where evidence was shown and the whole world could see what actually was happening and the lies and abusive nature of heard was there for the world to see.

i said I already think what Depo was was disgusting but I fully believe his anger and violent streak in that relationship was as a result of being in a toxic violent relationship with the main instigator being Heard.

Depp owned his behaviour, Heard didn’t.

Im not a violent person, but I’ve been in abusive toxic relationships where my behaviour was not something I’m proud of but I was reacting to my violent situation at the time. What I see in the Depp v Heard case is the same, except the woman was the instigator in their case.

Entered a construction site and fell. The so called authorities actually think people will believe this.

I don’t want to victim blame, but why the fuck to people mainly women go to these countries where women are treated as shit and have no rights 🤬

I’m in no way saying she deserved this! I really hope she’s ok, physically and mentally.

Mary Berry. seeing her talk about her son dying at 19, so sad.
Toby Jones, his daughter dying.

I didnt think Toby Jones had lost daughter? Do you mean Jason Watkins?

PleaseDontFingerMyPouffe · 30/03/2025 14:48

I saw enough of Depp in the televised court case to see red flags aplenty, completely changed my view of him. I also have zero sympathy for any man who can write such misogynistic texts (ditto for Paul Bettany).
Amber Heard may not have been the 'ideal' victim society expects, but that doesn't mean she wasn't a victim.

Melania Trump is allegedly very transactional and possibly the only one with influence over her husband, according to an interview on one of the political podcasts I listen to. That's enough reason to stay, I would imagine. I also think she must agree with much of his politics. No sympathy whatsoever.

They're led to believe it's a life of glamour and easy money.

stayathomer · 30/03/2025 14:55

Our local mechanic is infamous- he came into the supermarket at Christmas and the place practically went quiet- he’s the best in the town and always booked out- everyone was whispering‘it’s Tom!’ I wondered did they have cars with him or were they waiting for an appointment. I didn’t envy him😅

Waterweight · 30/03/2025 15:00

@Charlize43 as bad as it is being found on the side of the road unable to speak & badly injured is the absolute best case scenario for a young sex worker who went missing in a foreign country. (Death being the most obvious alternative)

As for the scum who did (& I don't doubt others were involved) I hope their caught & punished severely

I feel the same: an imperfect victim is still a victim. What clinched it for me was that I never searched for it, never clicked on an article, but whenever I went to YouTube there was a screen full of anti-Heard videos. Same for Meghan at times. Somebody wanted the hatred to fall on her. That tells me plenty about Depp. Nobody who has a decent case goes to the lengths of hiring people to make sure all that 'content' is right there in front of people.

Alan Turing was too. A different case altogether, but had he been here now he'd have been celebrated, rather than chastised and chemically castrated. He's on a bank note I believe and has has a posthumous pardon. Bit of a joke IMO-yes it means 'we' recognise that we did wrong, but the poor man is now dead-it doesn't mean anything to him.

They are free to leave their celebrity behind anytime. So no I don't. Those who step outside or just try to be normal I admire eg Kate Bush. But it's a hard thing to leave I would imagine. Watched that Boyband series and could see the toll it took.

I agree. Lots of them actively court publicity and media attention when it suits them, but then expect privacy when they want it on their terms. Being famous doesn't work like that. It's rough with the smooth. But having said that, lots of "Slebs" manage to have a relatively private life. They can choose to walk away from the limelight any time they choose - if they're doing nothing controversial and not putting themselves "out there", the media very quickly loses interest. There are huge numbers of "ex" slebs who are pretty much forgotten and invisible.

They usually court publicity when they're doing promotional work to advertise their product (movie/album/trashy reality show/whatever) which is their job, no?

There are some who use their private lives in that, but by no means all, and yet they get written about five days a week in the tabloids because they're good clickbait. I don't see that as a fair situation, especially not when the stories are often bollocks. It must be exhausting.

taxguru · 30/03/2025 15:43

The obvious one I felt sorry for was Olivia Newton John. Struck down with breast cancer in her 40s which basically halted her music and film career in it's tracks, led to the break up of her marriage, and seemed to have harmed her very young daughter's mental health (I think she was only 3 or 4 at the time!). She'd already suffered multiple miscarriages in desperation to have children, and had been hospitalised before the birth of her daughter after an epidural injection went wrong which took a while to heal/rectify. That was also after the failure of her business (due to bad advisers) and a couple of legal cases against her record labels (again due to bad advisers). Prior to all that she'd been an active animal and nature advocate and I think a UN ambassador. She'd also been honoured by the Queen at Buck Palace. After she survived the first cancer diagnosis, she spent a lot of time and money advocating for cancer charities and ultimately set up her own cancer wellness centre in Melbourne. Her music/acting career stumbled on with a return to small scale touring, a few "self" releases of new music and a few low key acting roles. But the big producers, record and film companies couldn't risk (and couldn't afford insurance) for a cancer survivor! Despite having had cancer, she still organised her fund raising walk on the Great wall of China, and had loads of her famous clothes, awards, gold records, etc auctioned off for her charity. I believe she even sold one of her properties with the proceeds going to her charity when she knew her cancer had come back for the third time and was terminal. Had it not been for the cancer in her 40's, she'd have rivalled Madonna, Cher, Tina Turner, as she was absolutely huge in the US, Australia and Japan, even though she'd been largely forgotten in the UK (ironically where she was born and had been "discovered" by Cliff Richard who put her on the TV which led to her fame!).
