What IS Dubai chocolate?

I'm seeing it having two bar limits imposed on the media I'm seeing it being expensive.

What is it?

Is it some sort of witch magic that's going to change my whole entire life?

It's got pistachio something in it. That's all I know. I love chocolate but am strangely not even tempted to try it. Maybe it's the name putting me off! 😜

dementedpixie · 29/03/2025 11:33

Something to do with pistachios i think

dementedpixie · 29/03/2025 11:33

You can buy jars of the pistachio cream stuff
It seems to be in high demand too

Pistachio sauce + kunafa crunchy topping + chocolate casing = Dubai chocolate

Pistachio sauce/paste/butter: similar to a peanut butter, but pistachio

Kunafa topping: Crunchy very thin spun dough (like vermicelli)

Costs a tenner and leaves a strong aftertaste of KitKat. IMO.

Pedallleur · 29/03/2025 11:48

More trendy bollox and over priced

CheesyRaver · 29/03/2025 11:49

I assumed it was related to Dubai porta potties 😂

roses2 · 29/03/2025 11:49

I was given some at Christmas, it was very nice.

They sell it in Lidl now. Lindt also make a version.

Blondiney · 29/03/2025 11:49

The oozing green centre puts me right off 🤢

Tilda86 · 29/03/2025 11:49

You're only going to get the proper gooey ones you see in the images online if you make it yourself at home. Anything from a shop or online is going to be dry and not as decadent. I bought a bar from a seller on Ebay. It was overrated for the price.

pearbottomjeans · 29/03/2025 11:50

I’ve only heard about it on MN and one instagrammer from Brighton who went into a ‘Dubai chocolate’ cafe (? 🤷‍♀️) and it looked like some chocolate & fruit combo so not really lining up with what MN says (pistachios)

If you want some reeeeally lovely Middle Eastern choc then get some Patchi chocolates 😍

NotOnThsAsosChristmasCardList · 29/03/2025 11:52

I'll wait a couple of months and get some when it gets in the bargain bin like those drinks people went OTT over a year or two ago!

Am I the only one who thought this was gonna be some weird sexual act ?

Not even funny when you think about it

vandelle · 29/03/2025 11:59

If it was called something else I'd try it, something like Pistachio Paradise. But with that name all I can see is bling and false everything, including the teeth, boobs, and tan. So it can't be real.

ohnowwhatcanitbe · 29/03/2025 12:09

I'm a huge fan of chocolate in all its many forms, but even I think this sounds horrid.

diddl · 29/03/2025 12:14

Was just reading a Good Housekeeping article & it gave the Lidl one a good review also one called Rifai that was 5 times the price!

That said, they have a recipe that uses Shredded Wheat as a sub for the pastry!

Chewbecca · 29/03/2025 12:17

I tried some at a food show, not yummy at all to me. Hype!

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 29/03/2025 12:18

i bought a teeny tiny bar this morning in the Turkish food shop. Shared it with my 2 daughters so we had the smallest bit each (think 2 finger kitkat shared between 3) I liked it far more than expected though it was quite sweet so don’t think I would want much anyway.

CautiousLurker01 · 29/03/2025 12:21

Hotel chocolat do praline paste filled chocolates. Lovely and nowhere near as expensive as this stuff. Someone, somewhere, in a marketing department will get a great bonus this year. It’s just a nut paste filled chocolate bar FFS.

reelcat · 29/03/2025 12:21

I wasn't bothered about trying it but got some as a present and it was delicious. I won't be going out of my way to purchase it though as it seems very expensive!

I was going to say, I bet you could make your own by sandwiching shredded wheat with pistachio paste, and coating in chocolate 😂

SwanOfThoseThings · 29/03/2025 12:25

Another silly fad product that idiots will rush to buy because they've seen someone eating it on TikTok.

diddl · 29/03/2025 12:26

Those that have tried it, does it taste similar to anything esle?

I notice that Ritter Sport now do one with roasted pistachios in.

Also the Lindt one is "Dubai style".

Shredded Wheat chocolate is grim 🤢 I hate those Easter egg nests. They taste like slightly chocolatey straw.

You can buy the pastry premade. It’s actually very quick, easy and fun to make your own. You just squeeze the batter from a bottle or piping bag into a hot lightly oiled frying pan in a squiggle or spiral. It takes a few seconds to cook.

Feta or saganaki wrapped in the pastry and baked is amazing. Even better if you serve with a drizzle of honey.
