I'm seeing it having two bar limits imposed on the media I'm seeing it being expensive.

What is it?

Is it some sort of witch magic that's going to change my whole entire life?

I assumed it was related to Dubai porta potties 😂

I had never heard of this and now I’ve heard/ read it twice in 2 days 😬

Brought this back from Dubai in February, about £5 a bar, really delicious but very thick, you can’t eat much of it at once. I looked online to see if I could order some more, and this brand is £20 on Amazon! Wish I’d brought a load of it back now to sell on!

My advice would definitely be go try Nestle Damak instead. It is very widely available now in lots of independent retail and corner shops etc. It's apparently the world's oldest pistachio chocolate brand and is really amazing value at about £1 for a wafer bar or a bigger choc bar at about £1.50 . It's so yummy !!!!

It’s the new Prime drink type fad and equally horrid.

Comefromaway · 30/03/2025 18:41

It’s a chocolate bar with pistachio paste & kunafi that was “invented” by a shop in Dubai. It went viral on TikTok & now everywhere is doing their own version of varying quality.

I love pistachio & have been eating normal pistachio chocolate bars for about 5 years. My favourite brand is Venchi. Very expensive but so worth it.

Our Eastern European supermarket had loads at the weeekend. But, 8.99 for a teeny bar!! I bought baklava and chocolate for a similar experience.

I tried the Lindt one and really liked it, but at €10 per bar I probably won't buy it again.

The words 'Dubai' and 'good taste' don't really go together in the same sentence as far as I am concerned.

I wonder why people in Mumsnet have such a negative view of Dubai? I thought it would be a hideous place, but went to visit a friend who now lives there recently and had a really good time. I was very surprised to like it.

It's not because you can't have a good time there.

For me, it's primarily because they don't treat people equally. It doesn't help that it is big, bland, flashy and is all about the money (money, money). But treating some people like shit is not okay.

I bought a bar of the Lindt Dubai chocolate for £10 in Waitrose and it is utterly delicious! It’s very rich but you really only need one square instead of half a bar, so each square is a bit like having two very posh fresh chocolates. There’s lots of pistachio cream with a crunchy pastry layer in between. I would highly recommend as a special treat. Don’t think I’ll be buying it regularly, but would love to receive it as a regular present!

My colleague bought me back a bar from Dubai. It’s made in UEA. It is bloody delicious - not sure how it’s so creamy but the crispy bits stay crispy?! Anyway I won’t purchase anymore as now I’ve had the ‘real thing’ I’m sure the others will be expensive disappointments.

Am I the only one who thought this was gonna be some weird sexual act ?

Yes you are 🤣

The original Dubai chocolate was created by a small company called Fix Dessert Chocolatier which is on Instagram (@fixdessertchocolatier). The woman behind it came up with the recipe as a result of pregnancy cravings and reminiscing about a dessert her mother used to make when she was a child. It went viral on TikTok and is now sold twice a day on Deliveroo in Dubai and sells out pretty much immediately every day which adds to the hype. Dubai airport had a pop-up recently.
Fix have a few flavours but “Can’t Get Knafeh Of It” is the one known as Dubai Chocolate-knafeh is the pastry mixed in with the pistachio cream which makes up the filling.
I’ve had the original (a present from a friend) and really didn’t want to like it as I didn’t think anything could live up to that much hype. I had to admit it is nice but as a PP said very rich so you can’t have more than 1-2 squares at a time.
All the other Dubai chocolate we see everywhere is a dupe of the original with some being closer to it than others. DD made a chocolate, pistachio cream and knafeh dessert at home instead which meant we haven’t been tempted by the dupes.
