It's an obscene amount of money.

Apart from the usual house, car, holiday, helping friends and family and charity, what would you do with it?

I'd put it towards a week at Centre Parks in half-term.

Just about cover the deposit.

lemonwrighty · 28/03/2025 13:27

I would buy out my parents business so they could retire early and also give them £10 million. I would sell the business as I have no intention to take over but as I wouldn’t need the money the sale can be a slow process. I would give my MIL and FIL £5 million each (not married anymore and both already retired) and all the siblings on both sides of our family £1 million each so that would be £5 million. I would put my niece into private secondary school. I would sell our house, buy our forever home, buy 2 electric cars, go on a once in a lifetime holiday and then start IVF. Other stuff would be to speak to a FA and invest etc. build a community centre for those with special needs and an area where there’s a nice park for them. Help the local charities, donate to dog charities and also buy a property with acres of land to rescue loads of dogs, mainly those who have been in rescue for years

Rockfordpeach · 28/03/2025 13:27

I'd open a community centre for adults with autism and learning disabilities. It would be amazing. I'd have music and art therapy rooms, a sensory garden and fully equipped sensory room, a social hub, a life skills kitchen, maybe some animals. A swimming pool. I'd be so happy.

No no no, 3% interest on the 3% interest! Grin

3% a year on 202 mill = £6,060,000

3% interest on £6,060,000 = £181,800

/ 365 = £498/a day!

@PsychoHotSauce 🤣🫣💷

I would absolutely love to spend ages thinking about which causes to help and how much to give. It would give me so much joy.

whitenoisewave · 28/03/2025 13:31

I would buy myself a huge house, a few family members too. I would arrange a big holiday, sign myself up for a birkin bag, treat myself for a few bits of jewellery. I'll hire my child a tutor and take him out of school while we travel around the world. I will also hire a nanny. A year later I will decide on how to invest it so it could last a few generations.

The initial win is tax free but any interest is subject to tax and anything you give away will be subject to tax for the recipient.

Gifts are tax exempt for the recipient. It's only a problem if the donor dies within 7 years of making the gift and then it can be subject to inheritance tax.

idrinkandiknowthings · 28/03/2025 13:31

I'll let you all know what I'm doing with it when I win it tonight 😁

Here4thechocs · 28/03/2025 13:34

rwalker · 28/03/2025 12:46

For staters you’d kiss goodbye to an enormous chunk of of it in tax

Isn’t it tax free ?

Rossi94 · 28/03/2025 13:35

I know first thing I would do is hand my notice in at work 👋 would be great being a lady of leisure and not been left to wonder if I will finish on time 😆

That amount of money wouldn't just change the lives of the winners and close family - it would change how everyone who knows about it looks at them forever.

I think I'd have to keep it as quiet as possible, for my own sanity.

This.

I'd tell no one for ages. Then tell family I'd come into some money but not how much. I'd pay off my siblings mortgage and give them a lump sum and same for my nieces and nephews in trust. Probably some to my parents to enjoy.

For my mental health i'd carry on as normal though. I work part time anyway and DD would still need to goto school. So may as well work to do something. DH would probably also go part time. Day to day wise i'd stay similar to we are now. But would spend money on the extras, do up the house, a second car and first class holidays. I'd probably move house after a little while.

I don't have close friends who'd notice. So easy enough to hide. There's wealth management firms so i'd utilise them to manage the money somewhat.

I'd give to smaller charities and anonymously gift to some people or organisations who need it. For example our local primary school, child fundraising for a specialist wheelchair. But i wouldn't be throwing millions at friends.

ohnowwhatcanitbe · 28/03/2025 13:49

202M? I know what I'd do with it.

I don't usually partake of a EuroMillions ticket, but actually... today I might buy one.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 28/03/2025 13:51

Apart from the obvious things - help out family, new house, car, holidays - I would have enough land that I could set up an animal sanctuary. I'd be skint after a year! 😂

fromthevault · 28/03/2025 13:51

I am honestly not sure what I would do with that amount of money. It blows my mind. DH and I have just had a conversation about how we are going to afford to get the car through its MOT, so the idea of having over £200 million quid in the bank is incomprehensible.

I'd like to think I'd do some real good with it, after ensuring that my loved ones were secure for life of course. I like the idea of choosing a random charity every morning over my coffee! I'd also donate a ton of money to my local town, which has so much potential but is very deprived.

(Even more mindblowing when you realise you'd have to win that jackpot 1718 times over in order to have as much money as Elon Musk, who has somehow managed to do not one iota of good with any of it...)

KatzenRatzen · 28/03/2025 11:17

I would buy a huge estate and rewild it and set up a study centre so that people can come and study the environmental consequences of various interventions, which I would fund.

l would also put lots of money into the arts, especially widening access.

This would be my goal. I’d plough it into the arts, especially improving access for working class people.

TheFormidableMrsC · 28/03/2025 13:54

I’ve bought a ticket. I don’t usually. I was thinking how wonderful it would be to be mortgage free and be able to set my kids up for life, also the rest of my family. I would probably not move but pay for my whole house and garden to be redone. I could do so much good with it, really make a difference to people’s lives.

Ihavepandassurvivalinstinct · 28/03/2025 13:56

I am building self contained village. I am Mayor for life. But they can vote, of course on matter affecting the village.
Large enough gardens to enjoy and to grow things. No roosters allowed. Buying informal on nearby council staff so I can blackmail them into providing solid public transport😂
Cannot decide between Tesco, Aldi or M&S for local store🤔 Maybe we make our own.

QuirkInTheMatrix · 28/03/2025 14:03

Just bought a ticket, you should be on commission OP.

I wouldn't be going to work on Monday for sure if I won!

overthinkersanonnymus · 28/03/2025 14:06

I’d like to set up a not for profit care home for people who don’t need nursing but have no family or contact with people on a daily basis. They just come and live out their last years being comfortable, no worries about the heating and making new friends.

Conundrumseverywhere · 28/03/2025 14:06

How do you actually buy a ticket now? I haven’t bought tickets for about 25 years.

BigDahliaFan · 28/03/2025 14:09

I'd buy up one of the old churches in my area - one of the big old ones, and convert it into a nice cinema, with a licence, that would show interesting films and have a community feel about it and it would host exhibitions in the foyer. And have a nice coffee shop staffed by people who need a little help in life.

Not the same thing but a local millionaire opened up a very nice Japanese restaurant where we live as he was missing the food. It's not the kind of place that has very nice Japanese restaurants but he wanted to know he could always have a plate of perfect sashimi or bowl of noodles exactly as he wanted them. So we have the benefit of that.

I think I'd like similar for niche films.

On the app or the old-fashioned way -in a shop - they still have the lotto machines.

dizzydizzydizzy · 28/03/2025 14:16

Apart from giving friends and family money, I would donate handsomely to some medical charities. I'd probably then spend lots of time in the Caribbean. While there, I'd get somebody to come and teach me to paint and I would paint the scenery, the people and the wildlife. Just wondering if I would find the time and motivation to hand my notice in at work?

YesHonestly · 28/03/2025 14:19

theressomanytinafeysicouldbe · 28/03/2025 11:45

Firstly, I would go to the Supermarket and do a big shop!

I would help out my family obviously, and i'd also like a big family holiday

I would give a lot to charity, dementia, childrens charities & cancer

There is a big old office block which has sat empty for years which I would love to acquire and turn it into Studio/1 bed apartments for people struggling, who have found themselves on the street or left abusive homes or just left care.

I would love to also put some into the community for young people that have nowhere safe to go on evenings and just hang around - like youth clubs, sports clubs, etc. that are free to use

I would also support the local food banks but maybe offer free lessons on how to feed the family cheaply but healthily

There would be just so much you could do to help other people and make their lives better, i might even set up my own charity

I'd also love to help people with start ups/new local business, build the high street back up again

It would also mean I would no longer have to work, so all those hobbies i've always wanted to start I could actually start doing, art, pottery, photography, glass making, etc

Possibly have some work done (I know, I know) but my boobs could be higher and my stomach flatter - teeth straighter and whiter - nothing more than that though

I would look after myself more - so some nutrition & cookery classes (obviously I would be able to afford all the ingredients now), hair appointments and facials, mani pedis.

I'd get the grandchildren whatever lessons they want, dancing, gymnastics, horse riding, whatever they want I will take them - everything I couldn't afford to give my children when they were growing up.

One purchase would be a baby grand piano - I can sort of play but this would be one to add to the hobby list i've never gotten round to doing.

Wow, I've never really thought about it that much before!

As someone who works with care leavers, this is lovely. I really hope you win.

TheTwirlyPoos · 28/03/2025 14:20
