Why are people wearing those ridiculous Cliff Richard glasses?

I know I’m old and stop press people like different things etc etc but I’ve just seen Gwyneth Paltrow in a pair and honestly they just don’t do anyone any favours. Some fashions should not come back!

I thought that about skinny jeans when they first came back (15/20 years ago?), after boot cut, and look at us now. It's amazing how things become easier on the eye once "everyone" is wearing them.

No they’re not sunglasses (well Cliff’s might be but it was just to illustrate the shape). They have thin metal frames with that bar across the bridge and they make even the prettiest person look ridiculous - in fact I think that’s the thing ‘hey I’m so pretty I can pull off these ugly 70s rejects and still look amazing’.

But they do look like Aviators to me. Maybe just slightly bigger lenses?! I love them and I wear them. I have a pink pair or Aviators that I am sure are like that.

I remember them well. I always thought Cliff looked ok in his and I remember being very impressed by the gorgeousness of a Butlin's redcoat who wore tinted ones (I am going back to the 70s here!) but I don't ever remember seeing a woman wear them until that Apprentice contestant with a northern accent a few series ago.

Agree they are awful. As are the really thick square frames like the free NHS ones you got in the 80s. Nobody looks nice in them.

It won’t let me post the image but I know the ones you’re talking about and they are way worse than Cliff Richard glasses- they are Jeffrey Dahmer glasses. Seriously, google his mug shot. They are identical.

Those are aviators. One of the most classic designs out there. The fluted lenses are less classic but these are hardly some bizarre aberration
