Help! Is anyone else addicted to Vinted?! (Light-hearted)

Searchingforthelight · 20/03/2025 14:15

Was carrying so much extra weight for so many years and had lost interest in clothes which I had loved in the past. Now thanks to WLI I am enjoying clothes again... But am enjoying them too much! Have rediscovered lovely clothes in my wardrobe and have recently discovered Vinted. Started off well, selling larger clothes...and then I started buying. And buying. And buying!!!

So many bargains, paying a fraction of the cost of buying from the shop. I cannot stop!!!

Anyone else?!!

I could have written your post, I've went from size 18 to 10/12 and I'm addicted to clothes 🤣 charity shops too, I can actually get the nice stuff now and there's so many nice things.
I justified it by selling all my bigger stuff, but it's got beyond that now!

How much have you lost? I've lost 5 stone on Mounjaro in the past year, at my goal weight and loving life.

Ditto! 5 stone also!

I have about 7 pounds to go to get to my original goal, but I'm also fine as I am right now and loving the clothes a bit too much lol

Was also size 18 and I bought so few clothes for years.

How are we to limit ourselves in our newfound love of clothes?! ! Do you also feel you have lots of shopping 'to make up for' !!

Yes me too ...it's been life changing!

I also was always careful with money so before vinted I used to not want to waste money so bought safe clothes that I knew I would wear and suit me. Now I buy stuff on vinted I can be a bit more experimental as I don't have to worry so much about the cost.

What I will say though is it's really hard to buy stuff in actual clothes shops after vinted....how much?!😂

GordyMatthewson · 20/03/2025 14:49

I was slightly addicted. But then I had a bad run - incorrect sizes or right size but didn't fit or poor quality or labelled "new" but definitely not. It was really useful for weening me off Vinted 😅

Searchingforthelight · 20/03/2025 14:56

Yes, Vinted is marvellous!
But agree it sure ruins paying 'shop prices' @Comedycook

I always only buy in sales anyway, and had looked at a nice work dress, was considering it as really loved it. Then found it in as-a-good-as- new condition on Vinted ( tho it's still on sale from store). For the cost of that shop dress, I got the dress, three sweaters (new), 2 cardigans (new), a new pair of flats for the summer and a another vgc dress!

It's wonderful for getting all the kids stuff they need and selling on when they've grown out of them

@rosydreams it's just a wonderful resource, right? Can be well dressed for a fraction of the cost, I could hardly believe it when I discovered it ( just a few weeks ago for me, late to the game!)

Someone needs to sell a me a dud then!!
I've only had unbelievable bargains I'm happy with so far

I need to be stopped!!

very useful but agree with others you do need to be careful as people put wrong sizes up and stuff

PosiePetal · 20/03/2025 14:59

I am! I have bought most of my clothes from sellers on Vinted for over 2 years now. I love it.

LadyNairne · 20/03/2025 15:00

Great for quality. Thanks to Vinted all my clothes are now natural fabrics : wool, silk, cashmere. No polyester or plastic fabrics in sight! And they all fit better due to better tailoring especially from clothes which were so better made a few years or even decades ago.
I can’t bear all the current mass market high street made in China low quality now.

I guess I'll have a negative experience soon... I'll welcome it at this stage... I need something to stop me!!

That's wonderful, isn't it
Great quality clothes that last
Affordable
Avoiding fast fashion, it's just unnecessary with Vinted

I do. I look back at photos and I literally wore the same "mum uniform" for years. All dowdy, I didn't have the confidence that the plus size influencers have, but I think it was because I never wanted to embrace my size, I was slim up until I had my second baby and I piled on so much weight.

Now I'm the slimmist I've ever been in my adult life. Even more so than before kids, so my confidence is back, although I did lose my ass and boobs but it's a small price to pay.

I need a whole new summer wardrobe (after buying a whole new winter wardrobe) so I can't imagine I'm going to stop.

Try the charity shops too. Honestly I've bought so many nice things there!!

towhoknowswhere · 20/03/2025 15:24

I agree with quality! I buy a lot of old top shop stuff, so much nicer than the horrendous fast fashion around now

KitsyWitsy · 20/03/2025 15:24

I’m wearing a Vinted dress today. A lovely fitted denim dress. I look gorgeous.

grumpypedestrian · 20/03/2025 15:26

I love Vinted but refuse to buy anything where people are selling on from Shein etc.

It would be lovely if people buying from Shein etc ‘because it’s cheap’ tried out Vinted instead. I’ve bought fantastic work clothes from Vinted.

Manchesterbythesea · 20/03/2025 15:26

I had a bad experience with a coat. Said if was perfect, as new etc. It was rotten! Has put me off a bit. But I have found they sell jigsaws so am always looking at those now instead.

socks1107 · 20/03/2025 15:28

Yes! Two more parcels due this week 😂

Totally relate to the dowdy mum uniform
Equally if not more dowdy for work

Never embraced the size, and also dated from having kids. I even bought small clothes I loved over the intervening years in the hope that one day I'd fit them... Am wearing one today I bought about a decade ago, which had never been worn.

Vinted brings a whole new level of bargain, and we have lots to make up for!!!

I've not really tried charity shops, it could be my local ones aren't great, but also Vinted allows you to type in 'size 10 navy work dress' type of thing, and it's all at our finger tips

Dangerous!!!

I also have nothing for the summer but am well stocked for work and winter... I guess we'll keep shopping!!!

Yes but have learned my lesson not to buy footwear, bought two pairs of trainers recently, neither of them fit.
Great for tops/dresses though, got a lovely sweatshirt yesterday.

Goatblu · 20/03/2025 15:35

Is it difficult to start selling on Vinted? Or is eBay better for clothes? I've got lots of stuff that's been worn maybe once or twice as I bought lots of new clothes in the months before I began wli.

Oh it's so easy, I find it smoother than eBay. You might get more per item on eBay I guess, but to get the stuff moving, Vinted is great I find

Did you resell them then?
I guess footwear is riskier than clothes sizing...
